In some cabinets by the back wall there are some food products available to purchase (I didn't look too closely). My friend (with whom I was dining) chose this place to meet for lunch as they have some good deals on set menus. For around 20 zloty you can get a main course (with rice), a samosa and naan bread. I decided on Chicken Jalfrezi, while my friend had the Chicken Tikka Masala. I was slightly surprised when the waitress asked us how spicy we wanted our meals. I was feeling slightly cowardly and opted for mild, my friend chose medium. The restaurant was fairly quiet when we dined and the food arrived fairly quickly. The starter was a samosa with two very colourful sauces. It looked really colourful and tasted amazing (the samosa was pretty difficult to eat with a knife and fork). The main course was quite nice (although I marginally prefer RotiRoti for overall atmosphere and Yellow Dog for its food). It was certainly filling. I didn't actually finish my meal. My dinner companion finished hers completely (normally it's her who leaves some food). The only criticism (from her) was that she ordered medium and her meal was actually quite mild. This isn't too surprising as in some Polish restaurants the food is "adjusted" for the Polish palate.

I've been to Hot Chili a number of times already. Nearly every time I see some Indian guy eating at…read morea table. That's usually a good sign that an ethnic restaurant offers authentic cooking. For my part, I like this place for a couple reasons. First, when you're order something spicy, it will be pretty spicy. The hotness scale employed here is closer to what one expects in America (as opposed to Continental Europe). You have to be used to eating spicy food to handle the "ostry." Second, they make good naan at Hot Chili. Fresh off the oven, it's the best thing to go with whatever stew you've ordered. Most other places in Kraków don't make it properly. I've had naan that's dry as cracker biscuit at a certain place down in Kazimierz before. There was never anything amiss when it comes to service. They seem to have nice waitresses. The place is pretty small, which could be a problem if you have a large party. P.S. The Chicken Madras is the spiciest dish in the house. It might well be the spiciest dish in all of Poland. The waitress gave a warning when I ordered it, And she was right. I was in agony while eating it.

The food here is good enough to warrant five stars. But other areas let this restaurant down…read more Service is very slow. It took them about an hour to take our food order (perhaps this is a deliberate ploy to sell more drinks?). So it was a full hour and a half from the moment we entered the restaurant to when the food arrived. The waiting staff were border-line rude. They practically told our slightly noisy group to shut up when they couldn't hear some us trying to place our order. Also, when taking a drinks order quite late in the evening it would of been nice if they'd told us that they were closing very soon. It seems this place is all about the money, needless to say they didn't get a tip on our 800 zloty bill. The interior isn't exactly pleasant either. The decor and lighting is fairly dull. Our group of a dozen or so people was seated separately in an oddly-shaped side room, getting in or out of the room involved asking half a dozen or more people to move. It would have been nice if they had some Indian style music playing in the background. One of the paintings had a swastika logo on it, which we thought was and little strange and some people may find offensive. The food was very nice (although at one point I felt like popping out to MacDonald's due to the long waiting times). The lassi was very nice. I tried both the mango and banana variety of this yoghurt-based drink. It was 12 zloty a glass and very addictive (especially if you are waiting for your food). Fortunately it was served in reasonably large glasses. My main course was chicken balti (served in a little bucket as is traditional), served with rice and naan bread. The chicken was very tasty, but very very mild despite the fact I had ordered medium. The hotness scale is something many Indian restaurants in Poland fail to get right. Portion size was good. All other members of our dining party enjoyed their meals. So to sum up, only go there if you have a couple of hours to spare and are not annoyed by poor service.
