Unfortunately, I'll be updating this review to reflect a recent interaction I had at the salon. I made an appointment for a simple bang trim. I go in, and the stylist Stephanie is over 10 minutes late to the appointment due to a phone call. That should've been enough for me to just leave, but I stayed, because I never had an issue with this salon. When she finally took me to her chair, I mentioned that I just wanted a simple trim, and for my bangs to blend into my side pieces - which I already had going on, but side pieces need trimmed too sometimes. I looked down at my lap and found HUGE chunks of missing hair, probably 3-4 inches in length each. My bangs were blocky and not blended whatsoever, and correct me if I'm wrong, but a bang trim usually doesn't warrant several inches of hair removal. I mentioned this to the stylist, and all she said was "I'm sorry we weren't on the same page." I go to pay, mention that I'm unhappy, and they tried to charge me $12 opposed to the $8 I've paid every other time. Apparently, Stephanie was a "higher level" stylist. Ironic. I paid the $8 and left. It generally is not a good business practice to be 10+ minutes late to an appointment and then also mess up someone's hair. It will take me months to grow out my bangs and side pieces to the length they were before. If you go here, just don't go to Stephanie. Everyone else I've ever had there was fine. It only takes one awful experience to sour years of good ones. read more

Very VERY professional staff! They all share their knowledge and tips instead of watching another stylist struggle and that means so much to me. My hairstylist is Chloe she is mostly quiet but very nice, she makes my hair wishes come true and the results have always been more than stellar, I have not left this salon unhappy with my results. My experience while in the salon was awesome. Staff was friendly and timely. The salon was very clean, up-to-date, and had a variety of regular and gel colors. I'm just disappointed in the quality of the work because I went on July 21st for a gel manicure and pedicure. It is now July 24th and I have bubbling under one of my big toes and a moderate sized chip off one of my nails. Do not let a woman named Hailee wax your eyebrows. She didn't listen to me trying to tell her that I want them done a particular way when I tried to show her. She just insisted on me sitting down without listening to me. She also proceeded to wax my eyebrows without telling me what she was doing. And was giving her advice...but she refused to fix it...so of course I said ...why ? She keep telling me I misinformed her!! How much more clear than a picture can I get?? Then another stylist started SCREAMIMG AT ME to leave that I was disrespecting the original stylist...I said really!! I am the one that is upset...look at my orange hair!!! I am the one being disrespected!!! She screamed at me agin to l3ave the shop and that I wouldn't be charged...I said I have no problem paying g for the sevice, I just want it fixed!! She the said YOU NEED TO LEAVE NOW!! WE DONT WANT YIU HERE!!! GO NOW!!! I could not belive it...I have never been so mistreated by an establishment...they literally ganged up on a customer!!! 2 months later, thanks to Covid 19, I finally got my hair done. It looks fabulous as always! I was very impressed with how the salon was set up to abide by the regulations set by the Governor. I was informed when my appointment was rescheduled of how the new process would be from having to wear a mask, call when you arrived, temp screening, hand sanitizing, the cleaning process in between clients. The screening process was followed as well as the social distancing. I felt very safe while being in the salon. As for the last review, unless you have lived under a rock these last 3 months, masks are required for such services...we all have to make changes and small sacrifices such as wearing a mask to keep each other safe! For my first year or so at Virginia Tech, I waited until I went home to Richmond to let anyone touch my hair. That is, until I was referred to Andrea by a coworker for waxing. She is hands-down the best esthetician and one of the greatest stylists I've ever been to, and trust me, I've been to my fair share in several states. If it were feasible I'd still make the trip to Roanoke to see her every few weeks, but unfortunately, I'm living in Maryland and I don't have a private plane. Andrea is great for several reasons. First, she has mastered the combination of professionalism and friendly, comfortable conversation in what can be a really uncomfortable situation. She tailors her technique to each individual client, and if something isn't working, she changes it. I can't sing her praise enough. I never gave anyone else at Indulgence a chance because I was specifically referred to Andrea and she won me over immediately, but I have always been warmly welcomed into the salon and other stylists chat with you as well. This review is long overdue, but as I've been searching for a new esthetician and hair stylist in my new area, I've realized just how good I had it with Andrea. I would sincerely recommend Amanda B. any time you want a pedicure. I also want to say that shortly after I wrote my original review, the owner very kindly reached out to me to make amends but I never took her up on it. I'm raising my rating from 2 stars to 4. Original review: My husband got me a gift card and I decided to use it for a mani-pedi. It's been 3 weeks and I still get upset when I think about how terrible a job the girl did. My nails were smeared, smudged, and streaky. She even filed a couple of nails crookedly. I really wish I would have said something before I left but it took longer than I expected and in my rush to leave I wasn't paying as much attention as I should have been. The mistakes were much more obvious in the sunlight than they were inside. This was my only experience here, so I can't say if this is typical or not. I just know that I still have $25 left on my gift card that I will never use and never give to anyone else either. I came to Indulgence for a Brazilian wax based on a recommendation from a friend and the fact that indulgence uses hard wax. They were very friendly on the phone and also made accommodations for me based on wacky schedule changes. Rose did my waxing (eyebrows, lip and Brazilian) and did an AWESOME job. We were laughing and chatting the whole time. She was really fast and thorough. The result looks great. Honestly the pain factor was really minimal considering the area. I've been dying to find a good salon since I moved to Roanoke, and of course I find a good one right before moving away! The salon is tucked into a strip just off Orange Ave. It's very clean, modern and inviting. I had called ahead to get an appointment, and the receptionist was very pleasant and professional. I came in and was greeted by the receptionist who checked me in. My stylist was running a bit behind, but they said they had back-up just in case she was more than 15 minutes late, because she didn't want me to wait on her. I'm glad she came though! Rose gave me amazing color and a great cut. I would highly recommend her! My overall experience was excellent. The salon itself is fine, typical salon nothing fancy, average pricing. There were some scheduling issues and I wasn't allowed to have my ends "dusted" because the receptionist didn't book an additional 45 min block on top of my color time. It literally takes 2 mins to dust my ends so I was a bit disappointed. The way my stylist handled the issue was very unprofessional just making it worse. Then minutes later she had another appt come in but wasnt finished with my color. She left me to do their makeup. She asked another girl to do my blowout. I had my hair cut here last fall and it was not at all what I expected, especially considering the price that I paid. I did not get the haircut that I asked for and my hair was not even straight in the front afterward - one side was slightly longer than the other. Family and friends could tell. It only recently grew out long enough after my poor experience here that I finally got it trimmed somewhere else. I just got a haircut with a coupon somewhere else for $8 and it was a much better deal, plus they did what I asked. I came for a haircut, mani-pedi, and eyebrow wax, and a Brazilian if they had time. When I walked in the receptionist was on the phone, she took one look at me, her smile turned to a judgemental frown, and she turned away from me. I ignored it, sat down, and waited for her to finish her conversation. She continued to ignore me for a full minute after she was done. So I went up to the desk and asked if they had any availability for a haircut. She put on the fakest smile she could muster, asked the girl behind her if she was 'on the book's' today, to which the girl answered no (in an extremely snotty tone), as she was sitting in a chair picking at her nails, and said they were all booked up for the day, even though they didn't appear busy at all. So it appears that the receptionist makes decisions about which customers will be allowed to proceed into the back of this illustrious salon to be graced with their services, and it is based on looks. I was wearing track pants and a Jefferson lab t-shirt. I am mildly overweight. I don't know which part of my appearance excluded me from being allowed a part of their exclusive clientele, but I promise I won't spend much more time thinking about it. Left more upset than ever. I made an appointment via the website which was super convenient and professional. I thought it was odd that there was only one girl with openings and that she was open for every single time slot for every day of the week lol, but I trusted that she knew what she was doing so I went in since I only wanted a small trim of about 2 inches. This girl has no business cutting hair! Cut about 5 inches off my hair because each layer she pulled down didn't line up. She decided to straighten my already fried hair that I don't often apply heat to to verify "all layers are the same". Well this trick did not work. I get home and my sister took a picture of my hair being all types of jagged and different lengths in the back. ALSO, after she kept pulling my earrings (I have a lot so not too big of a deal) But after the 5-6 time she laughed and told me about a time she accidentally threw a hair spray can at someone and it hit them, and then she told me about how she accidentally has been snapping peoples masks with her comb as well. I went to Brittney Stanley for quite awhile for Brazilian and leg waxing. Brittney was nice, professional and very good at waxing. I would only see her. During last appointment I had she did not seem herself, she was quite and it was like she was upset about something. The wax was bad. It hurt more than any time she had ever done it and the wax was constantly breaking and she would have to pull up the part that was still on me. Like the wax was too thin, maybe. I told her that it was really hurting but she said it may be a change in the season or something. After that wax, I started getting ingrown hair like crazy even though I was following all her recommendations. Long story short, after multiple doctor appointments, I have an appointment with a surgeon to get a mass removed from my groin area that has been draining for a couple months with multiple hairs coming out. I understand everyone has bad days but this bad day has costed me a lot. If you do not feel like you can do your job to the best of your ability you should not work on the public that day. read more
