I live on a busy street and these inserts definitely dampen the noise quite a bit. I can still hear rumbling from the cars but it no longer sounds like they're right outside my house. They're plexiglass with tubing on the rim for a tight fit in the window casing and fit over your existing windows. I was able to install them myself on three large windows without help - it took about 20 minutes. They're expensive but I found they were worth it because I can sleep now and they look great - can't even tell they're installed. They work exactly the same as glass window inserts I got on other windows in my house. You could do a DIY option by making your own plexiglass inserts, but I liked that these were easy to install, fit tightly, easier to remove than glass inserts, and had a safety chain on the inside. Shipping took a few weeks and they send a laser measuring tool so the inserts fit tightly even if the windows are odd sizes. I got the acoustic commercial version with white tubing. read more

Be careful of this business of unethical conduct if in the end you don't choose their product. I needed some window insert for noise reduction and talked to their consultant. In the end I decided to go with another local provider. However a couple months later I see my PayPal account has an invoice charge from them in $175 for their "measurement kit". I never went through with the order and never even gave them my Paypal account. They just used my email to charge me for something I never ordered. I marked the invoice as scam in Paypal. read more

I placed an order for inserts back on 9/15 and was supposed to have received the inserts by now. We're 6 days past the deadline. Indow has not delivered the order and provided me a tracking link that does not work. When I reached out to get an update on the order status, I was told that I had to contact their supplier who was having some sort of issue with their IT system. I again asked Indow to provide an update on where my order was and when I could expect it to arrive. I also asked about how long a replacement order would take since it was looking pretty clear that neither Indow nor its supplier had any clue where my order was. Indow refused to provide this information and told me to be patient. Indow seems to think they are running a charity, not a business. Update: They are now refusing to provide me a refund, despite their rep saying yes when I asked about a refund yesterday. This company seems to be a complete scam. 5 stars for a great product. I live next to a busy highway and it's been incredibly disruptive to my sleep. Indow has cut the decibel level in my room by HALF. Impressed. My only gripe: Shipping took about a month, and instead of just saying "shipping takes a month" (which I would have been completely fine with) the company auto-sends an email after purchase saying "We have worked hard to absorb the supply chain issues that have affected the entire world". This is unprofessional and annoying and as dated as listing your pager number on a business card or fax number on your website. Companies need to stop blaming acts of God for your poor customer service department or slow response/delivery times. Deal with things out of your control, and stop making excuses because of them. I recently bought an old house with lovely single paned windows, and didn't want them replaced. I decided to get 16 Indows to improve energy efficiency and, hopefully, decrease the terrible condensation that formed on my windows when it got cold. I was also worried that the Indows would be really unattractive. After inserting them, I found that they look nice, and are discreet so don't take away from the beauty of the original windows. As for condensate, 12 of the 16 windows have no condensate at all, while a few do get a little bit of moisture at times - mostly in the afternoon with those windows getting sun. I am not sure why some of the sun facing windows get moisture and others don't. Overall, much better than before I got the inserts. The measuring is a bit time consuming, and installing inserts can be a little slow at first. I did get live video help with my measurement questions though, which gave me more confidence. read more

We recently purchased and installed Indow inserts for our historic home in Northern Utah. Our home is located in a historic district and has 42 windows which are original single pane wood windows. We looked into replacing the windows and with the regulations that apply to historic homes they would have to be replaced with similar wood framed windows and the cost was way beyond our budget. With the Indow inserts we were able to keep the historic look and get the energy efficiency benefits of new windows at a cost that we could easily afford. We have had the Indow inserts in since mid July and now it is mid January. During the summer our home stayed cooler with the A/C running less and now during the winter our heater is running less and we do not feel the draftiness that we had before installing the Indow inserts. After a complicated and at times frustrating self measure process for the window inserts, we still decided to move forward with ordering them because we had invested so much time and there are not many competitors in the marketplace. We committed to updating our review and rating if the inserts were effective. We placed our order on April 16 and the inserts arrived on June 8. We have the inserts in the two windows of our master bedroom where we hear traffic from roads about a block away. We have slept with the inserts in for two nights and the sound I would say is not different. The inserts fit very snuggly and we still hear the traffic just the same. I believe the website says you can have a refund if the inserts don't fit but not if they don't work. That was a red flag for us in ordering which is why we started with a test of just these two windows. Our investment for two bedroom windows was $1,000. That will be where our investments stop. i ordered 12 windows for one tall wall of our home and once we got through all the sizing that takes a bit of time i ordered the product. the main reason for us to order this window insert was due to the extreme road traffic noise that we have to live with. the four angled windows also installed like a charm they are correct our sound decibel dropped by 50% as we have existing dubble pain windows. i can't wait to save money on heating this winter. i recommend this product, although very expensive i do believe that it is worth it. read more

This is not a review of the product, but the company's business practices. I didn't order the Indows, because I was not happy with everything beforehand. I ordered the Indows measurement kit over the phone. Several times I mentioned 'please mail the kit to our PO Box because mail is constantly delivered to the wrong address nearby and we try to send everything to the PO Box.' I mentioned the PO Box _three times_. yet Indows went the kit to our home address. I did the measurements over a single weekend and sent the info to the company. We wanted to try Indows in only two (2) windows to start, and I specifically mentioned that fact but measured the entire house at their recommendation. About a week later, they got back to me asking for a few corrections. Fine. I re-measured in a day and sent the info back to Indows. About a week later, they emailed to request more re-measurements and corrections. I remeasured in a day and sent the info back to Indows. Another week later, they asked for MORE corrections and re-measurements. Now I was getting worried. If Indows doesn't get the measuring kit back within 30 days, you lose the $150 deposit. We're 3 weeks into that 4 week process and I'm starting to smell a rat. I re-measured and sent the kit back with about 5 days to spare for Priority Mail delivery, which usually takes 2-3 days. I emailed to tell them I'd sent back the measuring kit before the 30 days. No reply. Sure enough, Indows claimed a few days later they didn't get the kit within 30 days so I lost the $150 deposit unless I ordered the Indows and would get a $150 credit. And they sent me an invoice for ALL the windows in the house not just the 2 small windows we wanted to try. Being familiar with the 'sunk cost fallacy', I told Indows I wasn't going to order anything. I suspect they drag out the measurement process to avoid paying refunds of the deposit and to make people feel more emotionally committed to this arduous process... 'I did all this work, I might as well order something!' No thanks, that's scummy, manipulative business practices. They only refunded by deposit after I complained to the Fair Trade Commission, Consumer Finance Protection Bureau, and the Oregon Attorney General's office. read more

Terrible experience as an interior designer placing a simple order from beginning to cancelation. Their website asks for your contact info and then dimensions of the window(s), along with photos... which i completed. I then placed an order for 1 single window for a skylight and selected the type (acoustic vs standard). Then i was taken to an order page and charged $175... apparently this is a deposit for a laser measuring kit that they ship to you to take more measurements. I received a shipment the next week and performed the measurements of all potential windows, but i wanted to try 1 Small window to see how effective or ineffective before ordering for the entire house. I submitted everthing online and the next week I received an email with an invoice of $510.84 for a 20" X 45" window insert! The cost for this ended up being $269.00 PLUS there was a $199.00 PANEL FEE.. tax,and hardware totalled $510.84. I sent a cancelation becuase i had no intentions of spending this much on such a small piece of acrylic and gasket for a skylight. I received a response back 4 days later with an explanation of fees, and my window "Fit Specialist" told me about the extra fees/handling fees, on any orders under $1,500 and a $50 "processing fee" to cancel. Needless to say I will not use this company and I think its very shady to do business this way. I will post this review in other public forums so people dont waste their time and money on nothing. We live in a condo - one of six carved out of a large brick home built in 1896. One of the 'windows' is actually three windows - two tall rectangles on each side of an arched window. We were quoted $1800 for custom storms. Indow did all three windows for $375 including a custom insert fir the arch. Their laser tool made measuring simple an easy. The custom insert fit perfectly and the trim matches the window exactly - unless you look closely, you can't see that they are inserts. I got one window insert about 6 months ago for a large window frame. I'm not sure if it works to reduce the noise, it may, but it is extremely unwieldy. The process of measuring, with the laser, took forever. The insert was delivered in a huge wooden "Trojan Horse" that took a couple of hours to disassemble and dispose of. Indow failed to tell me in advance that I would need a drill to prepare some holes in the window frame. After drilling the necessary holes installing the insert was not difficult with the help of a friend. But I live alone so though I can take the indow out of my window frame, in order to let some air in the room, I can't put it back on my own. This is extremely impractical. The videos on the Indow website made it look so easy to move the inserts in and out of the window frame. Indow gave me no idea that this insert would be impossible for one person to put in the window frame. There is a "chain" on the front of the indow that is supposed to allow you to quickly remove your Indow, the first time I tried to use it it broke off immediately. That a $1200 product, thank you Indow. That's why there's no warranty on quality or effectiveness. You may find it easier to work with your Indow if your window frame is small like, for instance, 3x5'. In that case you may find that Indow has value but I would still compare to products like double pane windows, cellular shades, and other window coverings which can reduce noise and regulate temperature but are way easier to work with. I had previously looked at this company a few years ago when our cul-de-sac opened up to massive traffic. Instead of getting an Indow we got new windows to try to Stave off some of the nonstop obnoxious noise. Well the new windows did not work out so well , actually they were worse than the original windows the house came with!! So I once again contacted Indows and I'm sorry I waited so long!! Super nice, professional people, super-efficient the Indows came in a timely manner, very ez to install! We are very very happy with them, you can hear a little bit of the loudest trucks and traffic. Nice looking , clean Indows in a variety of colors! We are very happy with them, it has really changed our lives , thank you so much Indows! Don't waste your money like I did! I had the same experience with some of the reviewers here who gave 1 star. I requested for a quote back in July and the Indow inserts were delivered November 29 (16 weeks). Spent over $2000 for 5 small and 1 big insert. It's definitely not worth the wait and money as it didn't do squat to reduce road noise. I had 1 room that had inserts on all windows and they don't make a difference. Cons: 1. Installation was as difficult as others have mentioned. If you get the inserts, expect to keep them on forever. You won't be able to open your windows anymore. 2. Very expensive and final sale. No refunds even if the product doesn't work. Buy at your own risk. 3. Measurement is done by the customer using a laser kit which proved to be a terrible process. 4. Fit specialist was not transparent and never mentioned that partially covering a room will not work. They're really only after the sale. 5. They will insist that the products fit your windows and that the solution is to reinstall until it fits. Pros: Can't think of any. I decided to give Indow a shot in one of the coldest rooms in our home - the kitchen. Our house was built in 1857 and has many original windows, so it's drafty and pretty cold during NJ winters. My wife is cold in 80 degree weather, so we didn't have much hope that we could do anything about it. I worked with James Werth and he was terrific - answered all my questions, guided me in selecting the best option, super responsive to every random inquiry I threw at him, etc. I received the laser measuring kit and while it was tricky measuring everything and then uploading the data (sometimes incorrectly on my part), the website was able to kick out a few angles that needed to be remeasured to ensure proper fit and we were on our way. I started with 3 inserts - 2 in the kitchen and 1 in our laundry room/mudroom that is situated right next to the kitchen. The order was processed quickly and arrived in really secure packaging. They popped in in about 15 minutes total for all 3. It honestly took me longer unwrapping them from the box they arrived in then it took to physically install them. Unbelievably, my wife has noticed a significant difference immediately. We're no longer feeling drafts coming in and the inserts are so subtle and seamless, that you can't even tell they're installed. I have to specifically point them out to people that visit because they can't wrap their brains around it. Really happy with this "test phase" and will be moving on to the living room and dining room in the coming months. I'm a voice actor, working out of my home studio, and dealing with ambient noise from outside my home is one of my biggest hassles while recording. I ordered an Indow insert for my studio and was delighted in the decrease in background noise. My noisefloor is consistently at minus 65db, which is often hard to obtain. The whole process was painless - great consulting work by James, quick manufacturing turn around, and the instructional videos effectively guided me through the process - from measuring, to installation, to cleaning. Granted, the inserts are not inexpensive, but the alternative would have run me about over $4000, which in the end, made Indow inserts a bargain. I highly recommend Indow. We have had the window inserts installed in our downstairs for a couple of weeks now and all I can say is - THEY ARE GREAT! I could feel the difference the moment - literally the second - I put them in (they are that effective, and my windows were THAT drafty).I left on a work trip for a week shortly after installing them, and when I got home all I could do was remark about how much more comfortable the house felt. Also - you really can't see them, and guests definitely don't see them. I live across from a park in a district with many schools. That being said, it was very hard to sleep at night with all of the soccer practices, skateboarding and constant chatter throughout the day. So I looked to indow, hoping that it would resolve the issues. Note that I have pretty large windows (5 ft wide) Here's what I like about indow: 1. It's a clear acryllic(?) window that allows for sunlight(unlike acoustical foam) 2. It actually works , it's much much quieter, although not 100% silent or anything (not that I was expecting it to) because that lies in the construction of the actual space. Foam is comparable and effective, but I would say indow is still slightly better. What I don't like about indow: 1. Expensive, I paid about 1K for acoustical inserts 2. It's SOOO HEAVY, I was sweating bullets to put it into my window frame- I can't ever take it out because it's such a pain. I think it's like 70 lbs for my window size. That being said, I feel somewhat happy about it, but wish it wasn't as expensive or ridiculously heavy. read more

We considered purchasing new windows and paying for professional installation but found this route very costly. Then we found Indow. The idea of solving our problem with an easily installed product that blends with the window style seemed appealing. We purchased and installed the Indow insert and it has certainly met our expectations. The insert seems most effective with mid-to high pitched sounds, doesn't do much for low frequency sounds like rumbling engines. But since our installation, that annoying whizzing sound from passing cars has decreased from a nuisance to barely audible. We found the measuring process relatively simple and our insert came snug in a well built shipping crate. I purchased acoustic inserts for my bay windows to reduce the noise coming from the freeway which is not too far from my house. I'm very happy with the purchase, noise in the living room is now much less disturbing than before! I can read a book quietly while sitting in front of the bay windows now. Be aware of the long wait for custom shaped inserts! I originally ordered two circular panes in May 2021 and got them 5 months later. One of them had a huge gap to which their Claims department proposed sending extra tubes to fill. The other is too big so doesn't fit the opening so I had it remade. I am very pleased with my Indow Window Inserts. I wanted to cut down the noise especially barking dogs and music so I decided this was a good option, after a lot of research. I decided to buy two acoustic inserts for one room to start so I could test if they worked as advertised. I received the two and parked my car outside those windows so I could set off the alarm and see the difference. I set off the alarm before installation of the inserts and then repeated the process after the insert installation and recorded 20 seconds of each video and it made a minimum of 50% reduction in the noise I could hear. I also played barking dog sounds and music from outside the windows with the inserts and the windows without the inserts and again it made a big difference. I then bought inserts for the rest of my house and have a very peaceful place to live in with noticeable reduction in noise levels. I received great customer service from Brian throughout the whole process. The materials came packaged very professionally. I considered the matter closed because when I spoke with Mr. Eisenberg about the lack of noise reduction and the thickness of my acoustic acrylic insert, he replied, via email: "Our Acoustic grade nominal 1/4" product has a manufacturing spec of .220" with mfg tolerances." The acoustic inserts were purchased for my windows. I can say without reservation from first hand experience they are 100% a waste of money! They simply do NOT work! You might as well open your windows and toss your money out them! The company is located in Portland Oregon so you would be purchasing them through a local seller recommended by the manufacturers. Once you order and pay for them, you own them! There are caveats potential buyers should educate themselves about before putting thousands of dollars out for these. The customer service was fine but once you purchase them and find out they do not work, you have no recourse! I can not speak to the 5 star ratings that are listed. I can only say they're plexiglass with a rubber edge holding them in place! I would recommend if your considering a purchase. Indow window inserts are truth in advertising. I live in a historic home and the Maryland Parks and Planning Commission oversees the external portion of our properties. If you can scrape together one to three thousand dollars they will match it by ten fold if you win a grant enabling you to make external improvements. Thus the place looked crappy on the outside and the single pane windows equal noise pollution as heavy as if I never closed the windows facing the main road where people average 50mph and it's 24/7. Indows are expensive. But I just had them instaed in my bedroom and the result is that 80 percent of the noise is gone. Two 3'x4' window inserts we're $1020.00. I need to get ten more windows done. I am hoping for a discount but I doubt it will materialize. Great product if you can afford it. read more
