When the family and I moved to the PacNW, we expected torrential showers and cloudy skies. Little did we know that being further north meant 5am sunrises and 10pm sunsets. Our beautiful new home in Felida had numerous ceiling to floor windows to capture the great outdoors, but without window coverings we found ourselves desperate for assistance. We met with numerous companies and received some astronomically high quotes and long lead times, and we began to worry that we'd have to spend an entire summer battling rays of sunshine and a total lack of privacy, but then we met Alex and the good folks at Blinds Northwest. Alex provided a range of patterns, colors, and options for our blinds. His prices were very fair, and most importantly, his lead times were very reasonable. We made a downpayment and began counting the days to delivery. To our surprise, they came in sooner than expected, he was out our house just a few days after confirmation of delivery, and he installed over a dozen blinds in some gigantic windows in just a few hours time. I was looking for cellular shades and had shopped around with 3 other companies. Blinds NW was the most competitive in terms of price for Norman Blinds. After I reached out, the owner Alex came out, showed me the sample book, and measured all my 32 windows. The estimate came quickly later that evening. I put down an 80% deposit and he told me that it would take about 2 weeks to receive the blinds after he placed the order. Without fail, two weeks later I received an e-mail saying the blinds had arrived and I was lucky enough to get installation done the next day. Arik was the person that came out to install my blinds and was able to install all 32 windows within 3 hours. End product looked great and I am very happy with the quality of the blinds. My experience was initially good. Alex was prompt to respond to my request, and offered a competitive quote. We wanted roller shades in the whole house, with sun shades in the downstairs and privacy shades in the upstairs, especially in the bedrooms and bathrooms. I explained to him that I didn't want people in our driveway to be able to see us getting out of the shower or changing clothes. Alex recommended sun shades in the entire house, with a higher opacity for the upstairs, so we would have privacy in the bedrooms and bathroom. I was careful to check with him that the higher opacity would mean that no one would be able to see through them at night from outside when the lights were on inside. I looked carefully over the contract when it arrived, checking that all of the windows were listed and all of the sizes looked correct. I then paid the deposit. However, when the blinds were installed, I realized the blinds weren't all correct; the master bedroom had privacy shades, but the other upstairs blinds were all sun shades, meaning that you could see through them from the outside at night. When I notified Alex about the error, he pointed out that paying the deposit meant agreeing to the contract, which listed the opacity of each window shade. Looking back, I saw that he was right -- each line had a percentage printed as part of each line item, e.g., DINING ROOM - SOLAR SCREEN A400 (5%) / RIGHT CORD. Not being a blinds expert, I didn't understand what the percentages meant, instead trusting Alex's verbal assurance that the bedrooms and bathroom blinds would provide privacy. Frustrated, I asked Alex to make it right. Surely, he remembered our conversation and had taken notes about it. We are currently expecting a baby, and I had shared this with him and stressed to him how important to me that people outside not be able to see our daughter changing her clothes or getting out of the shower. I was surprised when Alex still failed to admit that he had done anything wrong, again referring back to the contract language. On this point, he was technically correct; the contract clearly states that paying the deposit means that the customer agrees that each item is listed correctly. Alex said the best that Blinds NW could offer would be to replace the blinds at a 50% discount. For four windows, this still cost me an additional $415, and took an additional month to arrive/install. In the end, I am happy with the quality and look of our shades, but I'm not at all impressed with the lack of integrity of Alex as the business representative in the area. With so many options for blinds at competitive rates, I would not contract with Blinds NW again. read more

We recently bought a new home, and while it's lovely it was full of dated blinds that really needed replacing. Alex and his team at Blinds NW did an amazing job of making our house look like a million dollars, even though we only had to spend about $300/room. Quite the good deal! The entire process was easy and relatively uncomplicated. I knew basically what I wanted (honeycomb shades), so Alex brought out a big book of styles and colors to look through, and explained what sizes and opacity levels he thought would look best. The blinds I chose are of much higher quality than what you'll find at the big box stores: I know, because some of those were already in our house and I could see the difference once the new ones were installed. His suggestions were very helpful, and I'm thrilled with what I selected. There was a small delay due to two wrong-size shades being shipped from the factory (not Blinds NW's fault), and in the interim we decided to add on one more room than originally planned. Alex came out, measured for those windows, and waited until everything was in and installed before billing me for the remainder. Alex and the rest of his team were always exactly on time, and if anyone was running late they'd call or text me. Email communication was great (something that really matters to me), and they made everything part of a simple process. When looking for blinds for our new place, I chose this place based on yelp reviews and they did not disappoint. Alex and Yana were great -- it's a local place and they respond quickly and make time to come when it's flexible for you. Our appointments for both the consultation and installation were around 6:30pm, which most places won't do since it's after business hours. I was expecting to only do the downstairs windows and leave the spare rooms for another time, but it ended up being so affordable we did the whole house all at once. They have a great selection of blinds, and if you need decorating advice, Yana definitely knows what she's talking about. They quoted a three week turnaround time, but it ended up being about two weeks and two days. The blinds are great quality as well. Great service and quality products! My wife and I shopped around for our new home, Blinds Northwest was by far the most affordable and with the quickest turn around. Other places take weeks and is almost twice as expensive for the same product. They also have great selection of different styles/colors. I think the hardest part is just narrowing down to what we like. Yana is also very friendly and easy to get a hold of when we needed to change the quote. She also directed us into what will look nice in our home and gave us solid advice on maintenance. I cannot comment on the blinds, the price, the installation or the delivery interval. There is a reason. I scheduled an appointment with an estimator, and told him exactly what we wanted. He parked on the wrong street and couldnt find the house and brought in the wrong samples from his car. He watched me change from street shoes to slippers after escorting him to the house, and he ignored the cue. He never sent an estimate. your mileage may vary, but I consider this a bust. read more

Quoted me one price. The guy who came out to measure laughed when I told him the quote. Then he quoted three times that amount. I showed him my bid from another company and he didn't want to honor their company advertisement of "we will beat anyone's bid by 10%". Said they would install the next week. WRONG COMPANY to get window dressings from!! (Unless you're rich and don't mind reordering 2-3 times). Poor communication and Alex ordered the wrong blinds!!!! We first ordered our blinds in May; Alex came to the house and I had to request he wear a mask. Then a month went by with no word, so I emailed him again and he claimed that because we never gave him a down payment, he did not follow up. Of course, he NEVER asked for a down payment nor said where to send it. So got that sorted out and he placed the order. He did not tell us that corded blinds disallowed top down, bottom up, so when he asked if we wanted corded versus the hanging, since stronger, we thought if stronger, sure, do those. So he transcribed a new order without top down, (changed from which we requested AND discussed with him in person and in email ) and ordered corded loop, never telling us he was changing the order of top down to accommodate corded loop. So none of the blinds that we requested with top down, bottom up were sent and he refused to take back and correct the order. We contacted the blind company, Norman, and they said "the lift systems are not interchangeable." So, basically, tough! Not going to help unless you dole out more money. Lesson: if you deal with this company (against our recommendations!!), make sure you get him to spell out every detail, question him on every item and double recheck the last invoice making sure he hasn't changed things. I found him totally indifferent to the fact that he had messed up our order and had the gaul to think we would continue to use him to get the blinds we want. read more

Unreliable and not trustworthy. Called on Tuesday to schedule for first available opportunity. Agreed on date and time that was convenient for the company representative. (Clue #1 and strike 1--customer is not first.). Appointment time missed by company. No call. (Clue #2 and strike 2... customer is still not first.) I called them to inquire about arrival. First excuse... They "emailed" me to reschedule. (Dishonest... I did not provide my email.). Second excuse, they didn't realize we were not in Portland metro. (Dishonest... They had our full address indicating Yamhill county.) Strike 3... You're out! Don't waste your time or energy. Go to someone reliable. If I could post with zero stars, I would. read more

NW Blinds offerred the lowest estimate on blinds for my house by several hundred dollars, which is what I have to remind myself when I look at my windows. They did not take the inner molding into account when they measured, so the blinds stick out and look a little strange on several of the windows. My husband and I bought a townhouse with windows that had no coverings. When Alex came out he told me that his family owned company provides the lowest price on window shutters. Of course, I had to validate this on my own. I made an appt with another company for a bid and was shocked to hear the price per square foot and that they also charged for installation. The third company was not any better. Blinds Northwest not only provided the lowest price on basswood blinds that I ordered, but their turnaround time was 3 weeks as opposed to 6 weeks for their competitors and they do not charge for installation. Lastly, they match the color of your window frames to the shutters! The others did not offer the color match, instead they use the 'best match' from their color swatches. I am so pleased with my transaction with Alex and his uncle who did an exceptional job installing the shutters on 18 windows. I'm really impressed how Blinds Northwest, and the manufacturer they buy from, stand behind their product. I got prices from Blinds Northwest, Budget Blinds, and the Costco blinds company for an entire house of blinds. Not only was Blinds Northwest the most competitive on price, they proved to be great where it matters most, customer service. To make a long story short, I had a sliding glass door blind that slowly lost tension over a period of months after it was initially installed. Alex came out and tried to fix it, but after awhile declared it defective and said he would contact the factory and replace the entire unit. Eugene brought out the replacement unit and did a wonderful job installing it. Northwest Blinds even gave me a free handle for another blind in my house, one I had admittedly broken negligently. Definitely put these folks on your short list of blinds companies to consider. read more
