Had a very painful top tooth. Got through the night, called first thing in the morning. I was seen the very next day. Fit in at noon. Turned out the tooth had cracked and was fractured. It needed to come out, it was infected. Steer clear of this place. My wife and I have a lifetime of taking good care of our teeth and dentists telling us so, including just a few months ago at our last cleaning. The first time we come here, we apparently have developed serious periodontal disease and need $1200 "deep cleanings". Look up the "deep cleaning upsell scam" on YouTube and see what dentists who do this are really up to. I was more than willing to pay them for a cleaning and exam, but they wouldn't even give either of us a standard cleaning. They'd only offer to reschedule us to come in for our very expensive upsell cleaning or nothing at all. What a waste of time. The thing that upsets me most is that they are trying to scare people into buying things they don't need, and using their authority as a professional to make people think they need it. I had very clearly scheduled a teeth cleaning and even confirmed in advance that I would be taking antibiotics as per usual. But when I arrived, I was told that it was just a new patient exam and that they had not put me on the calendar to have my teeth cleaned. I looked it up and this practice is owned by a private equity firm and it was instantly obvious to me that I was trying to be roped into more expensive procedures after being given an exam and x-rays for free. When I explained that I couldn't afford extra procedures right now and just wanted to have my teeth cleaned they basically shrugged and told me they were payment plans. Beware of the Modern Dentistrys in the valley if your dental work is complicated. My issue was with the front office staff's bait and switch strategies. Before the work is done, if you have insurance, personally check with your insurance to be sure it is covered. Also know that they will have you sign a financial responsibility stating that any work not coveted by insurance is your responsibility. I signed it believing that all my work was pre-approved. I was initially advised that my crown would be covered by my insurance. After the procedure was done, on the next appointment. I was advised that it was not covered. Not only that no staff from the office inquired if it was covered. Oh the real insult, I was charged the insurance fee $350 vs $800 which is what it would cost if I had no insurance. I disputed the charge all the way to the regional office and was told that there would be no adjustment. I was required to pay otherwise I would be reported to the credit bureau for not paying. He is absolutely fantastic and today I met my dentist for the first time because I actually need some work done, his name is David Mendoza DDS and he knew exactly what was wrong with my tooth and exactly how we were going to fix it and I just had a really good feeling about him so I'm so excited that he's now my dentist (at least as excited as you can be) and all the ladies at the front desk are so nice and helpful read more

Patient here for 3 years with moderate care under a staff that is always different on each visit. Seems like Dr Tran/owner hires very young dentists right out of school with little experience. They do well, considering they are new to the profession but usually leave quickly. The front office/counter staff makes errors occasionally and seem to hustle patients for extra payments when insurance coverage will cover the costs. I sent a respectful letter to Dr Tran that went unanswered; I'm gone. Update: The same day I posted my review here, Dr. Tran called me to ask about my dissenting comments. We had a long, positive conversation about staff problems and that he never received my initial email/letter of concern. He seems positive that he will be able to address these issues and wished me well. While I'll be seeing a new dentist after his staff let me down in many ways, I'm hopeful that other patients will find improvements at this office. read more

I was a customer for many years but was treated very poorly by the manager Lilly regarding a problem I had with a tooth. I was told I had a cavity so I decided to have it fixed despite having no issues/pain with the tooth. I was told by the Dentist during the procedure that I would not need a root canal. The cavity wasn't close to the nerve but ever since the procedure, I've had extreme sensitivity to hot and cold. I went to see the see the Dentist about it and he said to give it 2 more weeks. It wasn't improving over the next 3 days so I called the manager. She kept saying they can never guarantee a root canal wouldn't be needed but the dentist said I would NOT need a root canal. The manager was rude and kept saying the same thing over not acknowledging that I was told I would not need a root canal. I'm filing a complaint with the California Dept. of Consumer Affairs and BBB. I was also told by the dentist when he said I had a cavity that this tooth has 3 roots and it would be more expensive to do a root canal even though the cavity wasn't even close to the nerve. The manager said the cost is the same no matter how many nerves/roots there are so I was lied to them to create an urgency to get it fixed. Unfortunately there's a lot of shady dentists out there. The manager never offered to pay for even some of the cost of the root canal. Stupid because they lost a customer for life over maybe $1000. read more

So far Ive had exrays, a cleaning and the start of a bridge on the first quadrent of my mouth with 3 more areas to go. Never having had this much dental in my mouth I had a lot of anxiety. They address this with empathy which I appreciate. It put me to ease, as much as someone who's always been frightened to be in a dental chair for anything more than X-rays and a cleaning. I was quoted over the phone (after getting the original dental plan) that a tooth extraction would cost $795, including a $100 off coupon. At the office I was told the cost would be $995. When I informed the clerk about the phone quote, her response was WHO? The lady who answered the phone! Modern Dentistry - Indio If I could give this business a -10, I would. My initial visits with Dr. William Kim, who is no longer there, were pleasant and professional. I got upper and lower partials. There was a great deal of adjustment necessary to the bottom, due to pain caused by the plate not fitting. Visibly the teeth were not in alignment. The solution would be to remake the plate using wires that would be visible, at my expense. Dr. Kim did his best to adjust the faulty plate which required several visits. At our last visit, he politely informed me that he was being chastised for taking so long and taking up time that could be applied to other patients. I could tell he was not pleased with that. I canceled my last appointment with him because there was nothing more that could be done with the faulty plate. I began using dental adhesives on a regular basis. A year and a half later, the bottom plate was literally falling out of my mouth. It required repeated application of dental adhesive during the day and before every meal, to keep it in. It became so bad I decided to see how much I would have to pay to have it replaced. Prior to my appointment, one of the teeth that anchored the upper plate literately broke off at the root. Now my visit would include having it extracted and what could be done to anchor the upper plate. The worst was yet to come. I arrived and found the last parking place in front. As I got out of my car the alarm on the car next to me sounded. I did not touch the car. Upon entering, an employee was using her remote to silence the car. The employee at the desk was on what became obvious to be a personal call. She did not look up, she did not acknowledge me. I stood there for several minutes until she finally looked and asked, "Your last name?" I told her and she replied, "I'll tell the doctor you are here." and went back to her phone call. After Dr Toan Nguyen examined me he immediately informed me that the bottom plate would need to be replaced and began showing me an implant option. I stopped him and suggested we address what I felt was the more pressing issue, removing the root. I said I wanted to focus on that and we could discuss the rest later. He then began to explain what would need to be done. The same employee who was on the phone informed me that it would cost $2,500.00 dollars before insurance brought the cost down to $1,200.00 and I was scheduled to have it done immediately. I said no, I would think it over and get back to them. She informed me if I didn't have it done then, it would be the end of September before they could get to me. She escorted me out of the examining room and wanted to make an appointment immediately. I said I would get back to them. When I got home, I had received an email setting up an appointment in September. There was no employee on site that I remembered from my previous visits. I suspect Dr Kim left realizing his talents were wasted with this high-pressure - high-ticket dental sales business. read more

Dr. Tran, the owner of the dentistry, personally reached out to understand what went wrong with my appointment so he could take that feedback and bring it back to the employees. He found a time for me to get my teeth cleaning when we chatted on the phone and had his office confirm later in the day. I asked if I could get a discount to compensate for the inconvenience when the office called to confirm the new appointment; they were able to take care some of it that wasn't covered by insurance. When I arrived, everyone was attentive and the office manager personally apologized for the poor experience. It was smooth this second time around. Wow! I can't say enough good things about this office. I was seen by Dr.Dewenter and she was absolutely great, she made me feel comfortable and she was nothing but kind even though I was nervous and kept asking questions. I had a wisdom tooth removed as well as a filling in one of my molars and I had very minimal pain for about 1.5 hours after anesthesia wore off, 12 hours later I have zero pain.
