We rented a car in Barcelona using Indigo. The actual supplier was Goldcar.
The car was a bit "bashed about" with many scratches and small dents and we were reluctant to take it but, having been told that we would have to wait a long while for an alternative, we agreed to take it.
I pointed to the rental man many damages which were not marked on hire sheet but was told they were less than 5cm so it was no problem. I personally added a couple of marks, which seemed particularly bad onto the sheet before signing it.
We returned the car and another rental man checked it and started making marks on the rental sheet. I asked him what he was doing and told him that all these damages were there when we took the car. That we were told they were small and did not matter.
He said that he was just making notes for himself.
I asked if we were going to receive all our deposit back, this which he said CLARO, meaning of course!
Only then I signed the sheet and we rushed off to the terminal.
Imagine my disgust when a couple of days later nearly £600 was deducted from my deposit without a word from Goldcar.
I immediately contacted Indigo with whom we had a contract.
Cherie Carter, from this first call, was helpful, reassuring and calm telling me that she will to everything in her power to get these monies back.
We then exchanged many mails, she was always just as friendly and helpful and she and I were writing to Goldcar to complain and get the resolution.
Eventually I received reply from Goldcar refusing to reimburse us. I wrote back telling them that they were a dishonest outfit and were taking our money to cover the damage made by somebody else.
Little did I know that Cherie never gave up and today, some 10 days after Goldcar mail to us, I just got a message from Cherie that she managed to get Goldcar to return in full the money they deducted.
This is what I call an excellent customer service.
Throughout this unpleasant situation I felt Cherie was on our side, believed our version of events and did her utmost to help.
I recommend Indigo to anybody who wants a honest, good value rental in full knowledge that, even if things should nor go as one would hope, Cherie and her team will to everything to resolve the problem to customer's' satisfaction. read more
