Since day one of living at 2321 North College, I had nothing but issues. Prior to my move, my friend did TWO visits to the location. Also in this time she took pictures and allowed me to speak directly with your representative as I was living in New Jersey and would be unable to visit before the move. Immediately I could tell the apartment was filthy. The walls, carpet(which should have just been ripped up),baseboards, etc. You name it, it was disgusting. BEFORE sending my deposit I sent several emails to Brittany confirming the place would be cleaned and repairs would be fixed. I was told yes that the items were fixed AND cleaned, several times. So I took her word and sent in my deposit. Once I got out here, Kendra, you were the one who signed the lease with me. The look on your face when you asked if I had actually SEEN the property prior, I knew right then that nothing was done. Knowing full well I had no other option I took the keys and went over to the apartment. What I walked into was the most deplorable, filthy apartment I had ever seen. How can you honestly sell this as your product? You are putting your name on this and you are okay with selling something like this? I regretted signing my lease that very moment. The odor coming from the kitchen alone was enough to make me run. The front door would barely open passed a 45 degrees angle. I called right away to alert my concerns as my movers were showing up shortly after and didn't want any damage to the front door. Being met with sarcasm clearly indicated your company's legit concern for damage as well. I was TOLD to wait until my move in walk through, to list out all of my concerns and issues. When your representative came in her surprise was the same as mine as NOTHING had been done. When your employees don't even want to touch the banisters because they were filthy, you know there is a problem. I will just post a small portion of the cleanliness issues I incurred. Neither the apartment itself nor the carpets were cleaned or have been cleaned in God knows how long. The walls had brown fingerprint like smudges on SEVERAL walls, the baseboards had layers upon layers of grime, the kitchen had grease splatters all over the fridge, food splatters on the walls, food STILL in the fridge, the sink caked with who knows what, the cabinets beneath the sink is completely rusted and eroded, the bathroom floor was so filthy and sticky I did not feel comfortable walking barefoot in my own home, the areas surrounding the toilet and sink were filled with dirt, hair, beads(from the previous tenant), the bath tub had not been cleaned ever I'm going to say its safe to assume. Walking barefoot caused you to risk having BLACK feet on supposedly clean carpets, now how does that make sense? When I approached Ruth regarding the carpet cleaning, she was reluctant to give any information and could not completely verify when in fact the carpets were cleaned. Shall we talk about the mice Issue? About 3 weeks in, I started finding mice droppings everywhere. They were coming in from the MASSIVE hole just behind the toilet. Let me guess I would have been responsible to fix this as well?
I debated for a couple weeks as to what to do. Do I stay in this disgusting apartment or do I forfeit my deposit and move, yet again. The same friend of mine that did the initial visit was willing to ATTEMPT to rent a house from Indiana Realty Partners and the issues she was met with were beyond ridiculous. She had to practically beg for Abi to take her deposit and even then she was met with complete discourse and rudeness. I convinced her to do a stop payment on the check and look elsewhere. Since Indiana Realty Partners did not want to return my phone calls for my last and final issue regarding the mice, I decided it would be best for me to just move on. Upon moving out, the electricity still was not fixed, the stove was turned on by a gentleman who reeked of alcohol, the front door knob had fallen off completely(it is still in the doorway if you want to reuse it since everything is based around monetary issues.),the apartment STILL is not clean enough. I did the cleaning myself as the two people I tried to hire to come out and clean it said it would be about $200-250. The carpets are still filthy and will remain that way as I doubt anything will be done. I moved in on July 15th and had slept there 5 times. Five. It would have been less if I didn't have to work from home those days. I basically paid Indiana Realty Partners to be a storage facility for nearly two months. I probably would have been safer and cleaner had I stayed in an actual storage facility. I do not think Indiana Realty Partners deserves the $1400 dollars they've acquired from me over the last two months. I do not think this apartment should be rented to any one else, either. I do believe the owner of this property needs to be made aware and I plan to do my best to find the owner and alert them. read more
