This year was the best ever! The Blue Door Cottages are now owned and operated locally. The rooms are very clean and constantly being updated. The grounds are beautifully maintained. The manager Brent is be commended. He really goes out of his way to make all guests feel very welcome. He even drove out of his way to a local restaurant where we were having breakfast to say good bye to our familyl after our 3 night stay. We rented the Squach House for our Independence Day wedding and reception. It was a multi day…read moreevent with our two very large families staying at least three days. The venue was a great value compared to all the other places we had considered. Plenty of space for the reception. We held the ceremony outside behind cabin 1 (Red Log Cabin). We rented six cabins for the week. Our wedding procession consisted of nearly a dozen vehicles rolling into the park immediately after the ceremony. The staff was nothing short of phenomenal. They went above and beyond in every possible way shape or form and stopped at nothing to make everything run smoothly and as easily as possible. They truly seemed as excited to have us as we were to be there for our big day. We were scheduled to leave on Thursday the 6th but Wednesday night all of our family was having such a great time, nobody wanted to leave. While not all the cabins we had been in were available to extend, they shuffled us around and got everyone accommodated and we ended up staying until Saturday. We'd originally been considering a Downtown Indy spot which would have run us well over $60,000 to host 100 people for 5 hours. We ended up with a much more fun, exciting, safer and friendlier place for less than a third. We decided to make it an annual event and have our families get together every Independence Day week. Check out Off The Trail for any weekend staycation or holiday getaway. You'll be nothing short of overwhelmed at the great time you'll have and the incredible value. We're going back in August and looking at possibility a Thanksgiving or Christmas getaway as well. Our deepest heartfelt thanks to everyone at Off The Trail for making our wedding day truly epoch. It is hard to find a place to go to getaway from home in the middle of a pandemic. After a few…read morehours of searching, my friend and I decided to spend 3 nights and 4 days at Lakeside Cabins Resort. The cabins have a full kitchen and the location is only 1.5 hours from my condo in Chicago. The prices were more affordable than Airbnb and Vrbo mostly due to lower cleaning fees. The grounds also have nice amenities (pool, kayak/ stand up paddle boards, volleyball, catch and release fishing, basketball, shuffleboard, firepits, etc.) We picked Cabin C62 because of its patio/deck space and lake views. The cabin is somewhat dated, but it was very clean. You do have to bring towels, linens, shampoo/conditioner/dish soap, paper products, etc. which makes for more packing/ planning but we expected this so it wasn't an issue. The sleeping lofts can be used by children or adults. I had no problem going up and down the stairs both during the day and in the evening/night. The only "problem" that we ran into was that our DVD player was not working when we tried to watch a movie the first night. We reported this to the front desk and they purchased a new DVD player and delivered it to us in a timely manner so we were satisfied. The staff was very friendly. We were able to find more than enough to do and were also able to relax. The property is very kid friendly and not loud at night or early in the morning which is exactly what we were looking for. After my rental experience, I am considering purchasing and building a new "tiny house" on the property. I've always wanted a second home, and this is a very affordable way to be able to do so nice and close to home! I plan to visit again next month with my husband for another short getaway. A+++++ experience!

We booked a 2 bedroom suite with access to a grill for cooking. Our grill was literally located in the gravel parking lot of the resort. The room was filthy and there was an infestation of yellow jackets under the porch light of our suite. The air conditioner broke on our second day. The maintenance man finally came at 10:30 at night to attempt to fix it. He cleaned the filter and told us to let them know if it is not cooler by morning. It was 88 degrees in the main room at 10:30 at night, and even worse in the other rooms. When we told him that was unacceptable, he got angry and yelled at us about going to buy a new air conditioner from walmart. I told him that he should go buy one becauase we cannot stay in rooms this hot. They wouldn't move us to an empty room because they said that their cleaner didn't finish cleaning any of the rooms that day, so there were no clean rooms available. THe maintenance man finally returned with a new air condidtioner, and installed it. This air conditioner worked. However, in the process of installing it in a rage, he cut himselft. THere was blood on the wall and on the door. While removing the old air conditioner, it leaked dirty water all over the floor and the futon. He replaced the futon and tried to wipe off the water on the floor with a bath towel. He left he blood for us to clean up though!. To top if off, the front desk said they would clean it up when we left. This place should be shut down. Disgusting, filthy, infested and incredibly rude staff. I am giving this place 1 star because it won't let me give zero stars.

Sugar Creek Retreat did not disappoint. The house is spacious, comfortable, nicely appointed, with a family friendly open concept. And talk about convenience, there are walking trails to Shades State Park literally across the road, and Turkey Run State Park is a easy 10 minute drive. The screened in porch offered a relaxing environment for evening conversations, and the firepit found us laughing while making smores. The book shelf in the living room is well stocked with games, and the satellite tv was loaded with options. My only negative comment might be that the internet reception could be improved, but hey, this is supposed to be vacation time spent with family. Oh, the homeowner Gabe is an excellent host, quick to respond, and always helpful. If you are looking for a quiet, clean and comfortable getaway, slightly off of the beaten path, this "Cozy Farmhouse", as it is called, may be exactly what you need to destress for a few days.

The people were friendly, the boat we rented was the perfect size for the six of us that went, AND the price was less than what the original estimation was! Our group only went with tubing and water skiing, but for 5 hours on the water at $25 a pop, we each got more than our money's worth. Will most likely be coming back next summer when it's warmer!
