For those who haven't dined at ITR's backstreet restaurant in Cheadle, this is a very different dining atmosphere, as the former is pretty small and elbow-room-only when you eat! Their second restaurant on the First Street development opposite HOME is vast in comparison, with a high ceiling, spacious seating and crazy-colourful neon lighting and artworks. Our group ordered a decent range of starters to share between us and they just kept on coming; pretty much every one hit the spot. I'd been recommended by a friend to order the Gobi Manchurian (wok-fried cauliflower) and it was gorgeous - and this is from someone who ordinarily dislikes cauliflower. Make sure you order the Butter Chicken for a main course; it's stupendous with a few roti to scoop up the chunks of meat in and soak up as much sauce as you can. It was a hearty and tasty sensation. So why not five stars? I think it's probably down to its cavernous interior and location - all polished glass and steel (you could be on the outskirts of Spinningfields). I missed the cosy charm that their Cheadle restaurant has; it seemed closer to how I'd imagine you'd have dinner out on the town in India (I'm probably misinformed, but it felt closer to street food than First Street ultimately did). The food is by far the best draw though, and city dwellers getting the opportunity to experience ITR's cooking is definitely no bad thing.

Dosa! I told you it wasn't big or anything...

If you believe as I believe being Indian, vegetarian, great taste buds, big appetite is a blessing in life! Especially if the girlfriend always confirms at the end of the trip to a restaurant, food was great and points out the problem being my over eating!!There was a reputation to maintain..... The problem this time clearly was the food!! No doubt it's the tastiest authentic Indian in the town( Asha's, may be!!) but if I felt full after sharing a dosa!! There has to be only 2 problems!! Either I should have not been hungry or there was something in the dosa like too much baking powder or something!! The whole world will agree I am always hungry! So trust me and don't eat the dosa!! Channa batura was awesome!! Very authentic taste!! That would alone get a 4 star but the dosa let you down 2 stars and at least another 20£ I would have spent eating!! Then there is always the Indian in me saying it's far expensive for street food!!

When the girls from school want to meet up for their quarterly get together early because they are both pregnant and one of them is about to drop, and said girl wants a curry on the hottest day of the year, you don't argue, you just go. When the other pregnant friend spends half her life in Home, and she suggests Tiffin Room because she wants to try it, the two things go together quite well. (Overlooks potential girls making most of pregnancy and possible coaxing of gay men). Anyhoo, we booked in for a late afternoon table and was presented by a very pleasant member of the team who was understanding of the need for a table with cool air due to pregnancies. Our waiter was very informative over the options and explained how the menu works, and we proceeded with trying to choose from the vast array of choices. We weren't disappointed. The starters come as they are finished in the kitchen (think street food and not high end table service). The fish kebabs were absolutely amazing and I could eat masses of them. Unbelievably nice. The lollipops were also very tasty and we were all very happy with starters. For mains, we had two lots of butter chicken, one ITR chicken and a slow cooked lamb dish with rice and naans. The waiter was keen to push to butter chicken when asking for his recommendation, but we didn't want to go with four of the same dish, and I'm glad I went for the lamb because it was incredible. As one who eats with his eyes, I often get full from just looking at large portions, but I was pleased that the portions were of a normal size and a size that filled us all comfortably. So overall a very good meal and a relaxed and unrushed venue, and it's clear that booking is probably needed as it was full on a Sunday early evening, which is great to see. For four adults, two courses each with a number of soft drinks came to £91. Overall very good and will definitely go back!

Authentic Indian food. First time I came here was for dinner. One thing I notice is that their dinner portions are big compared to lunch. Both very filling, delicious and not too pricy for their location. Staff is super friendly and the place is spotless. Would definitely recommend.

One of the very few places that serve Authentic indian food. Not too spicy or oily. One of my favourite. Only drawback: service is very slow

Butter chicken and sweet potato curry with a garlic naan bread.

These guys had an excellent and a vast selection for any beer fan! All styles and with something tasty for everyone! When you first arrive, the waiter will sit you down on a table and then you order by scanning a QR code or going to the bar area. Didn't make a lunch reservation in advance but was still able to get a good table. - Bundo Chaat - Probably one of the best reinvented Indian dishes I've ever had and is a MUST at Bundobust. The crispy samosa pastry mixed in with the creamy yogurt and slightly hot chili sauce is maybe one of the best dishes I've ever had. Usually I'm not a huge fan of cold food, but this was actually so unbelievably good, like eating an unhealthy salad. The potatoes and chickpeas on top were also fantastic. - Chole Saag - Not as big of a fan but still great nonethless. It's kind of exactly what you would expect: chickpea and spinach curry paired with some kind of bread. I will say that for the price, it is incredibly nice and generous that they give you the puri on the side because usually at other Indian places in London, you do need to order it as an extra. Overall, absolutely fantastic place to eat while in Manchester. Do not sleep on the Bundo Chaat at all, probably one of the best Indian foods I've ever had. Also during the weekday they have a lunch deal where's its 2 for £9 which is honestly super nice of them to do and also very filling too.

In these competitive environs, Akbar's holds its own with its gigantic naans and its flavorful curries. The offal-based offerings, such as maghaz (sheep's brain) masala and chicken liver tikka, are my personal favorites. The maghaz has a creamy, buttery texture and loads of flavor. The perfectly chewy naan is a great accompaniment to both dishes. A steaming cup of the sweet and salty Kashmiri chai is a perfect way to finish a meal on a cold Manchester winter evening (I usually find myself in Northern England around Christmastime).

For example, bookings in small numbers are not allowed, so if your party is less than 10 you would have to wait in the lounge. Moreover, you wouldn't be put in the queue for tables until all the people from your party have arrived! Once they have, you are given a device which will start flashing once your table is ready. For us it took just about 30 minutes (on a Thursday evening), so make sure you have no other plans this evening or come earlier. The place was full, we load to squeeze behind other guests backs - shows how popular the place is. Our waiter was very friendly and made us feel welcome immediately. Despite the venue being packed, food arrived quickly, and it was just delicious - couldn't find any faults! For those who feel adventurous, there are chef's challenges with spicy food (I heard you get s free dessert if you finish it- however , can't vouch for this). I have tried a tiny piece of this challenge from my friends plate, and almost cried from the amount of hot spices! Despite the wait, very enjoyable experience, and prices are more than friendly, which is very unusual for the city centre.

When you walk in you are asked to seat at a small coffee table bearing Bombay mix then ushered to.a table. The furniture is swish, with cream leather seats and sturdy tables. Opening a new looking menu it contained the same exciting variety as last time ;). For seafood lovers you can choose from lobster, salmon, sea bass and prawns. For veggies they offer standard veggie dishes to some special Himalayan ones..And for meat eaters the world is your Oyster! We ordered two pints of kingfisher and starters only, wanting to take our time. So two poppdums and daal soup later and we were happy ;) the dips accompanying the poppdums were well made , they consisted of generic mango chutney, lime pickle , raita and a curry sauce. The soup was of perfect consistency .. Potentially a dash more of lemon was required. Starters gone I then chose the curried seabass, rice and chappati. Himself selected the chicken curry. The sea bass was one of the most expensive dishes but when it arrived sizzling on a hotplate I was pleased. On the side it came with a gorgeous veggie curry sauce. The portions were massive unlike some places you go that offer no more than a sliver of fish. Even digesting this with red wine I waved the white flag at half way point. To end we were given segments of orange and the bill. Everything was reasonably.priced, well made and the service attentive. I had the feeling they were offended when we kept telling them we weren't ready to order the main but again we did it so we were not rushed. Honestly try this place I much prefer it to Akbar's
