Great course in Lafayette. Friendly staff, beautiful views, and marshalled to keep place of play.

We enjoyed our maiden visit to this course. We were paired up with a single who was local, nice, and offered helpful advice for each hole. The course was in good shape for the most part. They were doing some maintenance so the driving range was closed and the tee boxes were just aerated. It had a nice mixture of challenges of sand, water, and wavy greens. Greens were in pretty good shape. The forward tees were 4900 yards which is a little shorter than usual but still a good distance. We took a cart but our golf partner walked and there were many walking. It's not a bad course to get your steps, not super hilly and not a huge distance between holes. Staff was great. We had lost an item 'somewhere on the back nine' and a ranger took my husband back out on the course and they found the item. Very helpful. read more

We love this golf course. Every hole is a different challenge with a different club requirement, so strategy is key to a successful round. The pro shop staff is super friendly, and the starters are on point when getting people off the tee. Of course, you may still get stuck behind a slow group, so plan on a 4+ hour round for 18 holes. I haven't tried the food, but always see a lot of people eating on the patio. read more

It's a beautiful course I've been playing for years but the staff here are so rude and condescending they make it a very negative experience most times. Just be ready for that. Not kid friendly and don't care about promoting the game in that regard. They charge high greens fees and if you are looking for the snootiness that you would get at a private course this is your place! read more

Played a late season late afternoon round here with some friends recently and really felt like I made a good choice as a couple of the guys were very new to the game of golf. The course is pretty open making for achievable target while playing, yet poses enough of a challenge to make the game fun. I also like that the threat of losing balls is low. The course costs a little bit more than other courses in the area but is kept in beautiful condition so it feels like there is an added value. The staff is helpful but could be a little better at helping to maintain a better pace of play as our group was behind one that was holding things up a little. The drink cart was a bit overpriced as we noticed that the drinks cost almost twice what we paid recently at a couple courses in the area. All in all, Indian Peaks is a nice course to spend a round playing with some friends. I'll be back. read more

Billed as one of the Best Courses in Colorado, but sadly does not live up to that billing. The clubhouse is nice, the staff both in the Pro Shop and on the course are friendly and knowledgeable and the restuarant is better than average. However, what I came to the course for was to play golf. Reading the website, the course sounded fantastic and there were specials for reduced green fees. The course is a nice lay out, but unless you are playing with someone familar with the course you have no idea where to hit a tee shot or how far to hit it. They should have a yardage book or information on the tee as to the yardages. A large negative was that it seems that no one who plays that course knows how to rake a bunker. Every one of them that I either passed by or ended up in had not been touched by a rake. Footprints, deep trenches from shots, dog prints, etc, all were there. The greens were in mediocre shape and I am being positive with that statement. Fairways were OK but maintenance needs to get out and repair divots and pick up grass from divots. Overall, this course was about equivalent to a moderately kept Municipal course, which I take it , is what it is as it is owned by Lafeyette county. I just hate to think that this course if among the BEST that Colorado has to offer. However, with some thoughtful changes and aggressive maintenance, it could be a Star. Until then, only play it if you walk in the afternoon and can get the special rate. read more

I live in Lafayette and play Indian Peaks as my "home" course. It is IMO the best course in this part of the metro area, due to price and consistently good (or at least above-average) condition. One big benefit is that the city's bond for this course was just paid off, so money is now flowing back into course improvements. As of this spring 2013 there are new tee-box markings (Silver back-tees all the way to yellow family tees), refreshed stone course maps at each teebox, and newly remodeled restrooms in the clubhouse. I'm really happy to see the new changes and am looking forward to more good things going forward (they could use some new carts and range balls - hint hint). PROS: Walkable!!! Nice practice chipping green, sand traps, as well as a very large putting green. GRASS driving range. Less-windy than other Boulder/Golden area courses Lower-prices than Coal Creek/Colorado National Better condition/more challenge than Broadlands/Eagle Trace/similar nearby courses in same price range Cool Android/iPhone booking & course map App CONS: Can get slow/crowded at peak times on weekends. Active Men's/Women's clubs and tournaments can dominate the course on weekends Pro Shop is OK, but pretty small Kitchen/Food seems on the lower-end, and understaffed Unlike the other commenters, I think the Marshalls do a pretty good job at moving play along. But I do try to avoid mid-day play on weekends. I think this is true for almost any golf course, not just here. It is an enjoyable place to play, and it is a good value proposition -- you won't leave feeling like you just got fleeced, as is the case with many other places. The Play -- Golf here is challenging enough to be interesting, but it is also fair. Most hazards are clearly visible, and on the dog-leg fairways there is room to bail out or lay-up -- or a suggested marking to the ideal landing area, as on #7 (it is still up to you to hit the landing area ... ha). If you download the smart phone App, you can get good yardages and a brief voiceover describing each hole. This is well worth it to have along you've never played here before or aren't playing with a local. They have a family golf plan where kids can play free later in the evenings, which is a great thing. There are often kids here on the range with their parents -- it is very much a neighborhood place and feels welcoming. read more

I play about 100 rounds a year. I have played most of Denver Muni's and would say Indian Peaks is a very good course compared to the others. Consistently well maintained, good staff, I would highly recommend Indian Peaks. Better than Vista Ridge Eagle Trace Thorn Creek Coal Creek is a nice course in the same area, but VERY slow pace of play. Indian Peaks is much more wide open. I would stay away on the week ends. Its slow, and the week end crowd seems to have no concept of golf rules or etiquette. read more

Decent Course - Overpriced.

Beautiful greens, great layout, good pace of play (as in, the marshalls actually do something to get people going if needed). I held a star back because it wasn't Bandon Dunes where I used to caddy, and I should take away another half star because the 7th hole is so stupid. It's not Poppy Hills, it's not Thousand Oaks in Michigan, but it is fun, challenging, in great shape, and you can't imagine the views considering what it looks like as you drive up to the course. Go really early on Saturday morning to hit balls. You will get to see 30 hot air balloons ascending with the green grass in front of you and the snow capped mountains in the background. Had an opportunity to check out Indian Peaks on Friday and was definitely pleased. The course is not too challenging (even from the blues - I am a 13 handicap for perspective) and is extremely well maintained. Though this is where I could find some fault - there was staff all over the course mowing and tending to the course, which was a bit annoying at times. There is plenty of water, sand, and trees to provide the proper challenging obstacles, but not too many to appear placed to make your round a nightmare! The greens were a bit fast, but consistent and they had enough contour to create that amateur Master's tournament feel, without making you curse your five putt attempts! Great views of the mountains and great homes on the course - nice public place to play! I will definitely play here again! read more

Overpriced, and now they've added a $20 non refundable charge if you book more than 10 days out. This charge is not obvious, and once you book you can't back out. A phone call about this did not resolve the situation. I understand the need to have people keep their commitments. I don't have a problem with a reasonable cancellation policy. I will not Golf here anymore. There are too many other nice courses in the area. Be careful with this one or you'll get scammed. read more

Those maintenance guys are hawt. The only the only reason I even play golf is because of all that eye candy.

This is far and away the nicest public course in Boulder County. It's well maintained and designed in a fun, semi-challenging fashion for most golfers (ie., it has plenty of distance, but isn't overly tight, the rough isn't overly thick, and the greens are relatively easy to read). The opening 9 IMO is more forgettable than the back 9, mainly because hole #7 is the the worst hole in the area, and a complete hack job by the designer. Other than that, the Par 5s are long, the Par 3s are a good mix of wedge and mid-iron shots, and there are plenty of opportunities for a short iron or wedge in on all of the Par 4s. The main knock on this course is value and rate of play. $48 to walk at twilight in September. Let me say again, at twilight, this course is more expensive to walk than to ride at courses like The Ridge at Castle Pines, Walnut Creek, Legacy Ridge and Hyland Hills. To walk! After 3pm, you can drive down the road to Ute Creek for unlimited play for $29 with a cart at a course with a similar layout. The above mentioned reason means that this course, for it's length, is more populated with walkers than many others leading to a very slow rate of play. I've had 9s take upwards of 3 hours on non-holiday weekends due to the amount of people walking the course because it is that overpriced. It's not a deal breaker and I still enjoy playing here because it is well maintained and, for the most part, well designed, but there are more affordable options that offer a similar experience for casual golfers. read more

Came here to try lunch. nice enough interior with great views of the mountains. ordered their chicken salad sandwich which wass really good. person I had lunch with had fries with their meal which I also tried. The fries were clealry freshly made and had not been lying around under a hot lamp. definitely coming back for lunch read more

I am not a serious golfer, but my husband is...and we both LOVE this course. Mostly because it is one of the rare places in Boulder county where you can sit and have a beer and have a full view of the front range (and a great view of Longs Peak). We even go here just for lunch when we're not golfing, but we do especially like the back 9. This is one of the places we will really miss when we move to Boston soon! read more

I've played here a lot, and the course is always in excellent shape. The layout is nice, although not overly difficult. The only aspect of the design I really don't care for is the 7th hole. Its hard to explain, but when you play it you'll see what I mean. But overall its a pretty great track, and designed by Hale Irwin. Course is also good for walking, the tees and green aren't too far apart on most holes. read more

This course is like a girl who is a soft 5, but thinks she's a hard 9. It gets good ratings because it 'has good views'. We live in Colorado, the parking lot of 7/11 has good views. The course is WAYYY over priced, at around $50 to walk 18. The staff are really rude. The first time I called there the girl was so rude I called back 10 minutes later and told them frankly 'I don't want to give you my money, cancel that tee time'. The kid working the pro shop today wasn't a whole lot better. Very short and snarky. The range was mats only, because 'it's too early in the year, the grass isn't growing'. Nope. This is the only place I've been to in the past month that is still off mats, which are about an inch thick and on concrete here, so pretty crappy. The chipping green is about the size of my kitchen table and some knucklehead was hitting literally 50-75 balls to one hole, taking 1/3 of the green out of commission. (On a side note, STOP DOING THIS. I see it all the time. Hitting into a pile of balls does nothing for your game and gets in everyone else's way. 10 balls at a time. Max.) The course wasn't in terrible condition, but the greens were extraordinarily slow. Oddly, they don't hold shots. I've been playing for many years (27) and am a high-spin player, and I couldn't get the ball to stop on chips to save my life. To make up for the extreme lack of length of this course there are all sorts of dog legs, with allegedly local rules of 'don't cut the corners'. They put a lot of bunkers/lakes through the fairways and on the corners to try to force you not to hit driver. You can find lots of courses that are equal quality in the North Suburbs of Denver for around $20-$30 and probably have a way better experience. The positives are that the putting green is really nice and smooth, but also rolls about 3x faster than the actual greens, so don't fall in love with the speed before you tee off. The bathroom in the clubhouse is really nice, and they have these nice futuristic urinals that are fun to pee in. There are nice views here, I will admit...but as indicated earlier, that means very little to me. On a personal note, there was some very creepy guy who walked into the clubhouse at the same time I did. He didn't say anything, didn't walk up to the counter, but was straight up staring at me. I saw it right away, could feel his eyes burning into my back when I was paying, and when I turned around he had this insanely scary smirk on his face. I very seriously thought Uncle Touchy was going to get handsy with me. Not a good experience. If you play here, watch your cornhole. read more
