Each face carries a pair of bronze panels, and the inscriptions move from specific battles like Belleau Wood, Meuse‑Argonne, Normandy, Guadalcanal, and the Bulge to broader reflections on freedom, justice, and equality. The memorial sits opposite the Hydria installation, whose tall cistern‑columns frame the courthouse entrance and give the plaza a distinctive civic feel. I visited in the late afternoon into early evening, after the courthouse had closed for the day, which made it easy to walk the plaza without the usual weekday flow of people heading in and out of the building. The quiet made the inscriptions easier to take in, and the setting felt more contemplative than it probably does during business hours. In 1991 a private citizen, Bruce Redden, acquired the building to renovate into a private residence. Bruce Redden engaged the City of Tampa in a legal fight to push back on the mis-spent energies of the City Attorneys office. The Tampa Tribune wrote an editorial critiquing the City Attorney's effort. (Article attached below) Attached is an early picture of the Fire Station #3 during the ongoing legal fight with the city attorney's office. With the sign attached to the front of the fire station to call attention to the ongoing ridiculous scenario. During the time Bruce Redden owned the Fire Station it was a private residence. Mr. Redden enjoyed living in Hyde Park with his great neighbors. With close proximity to Bayshore Boulevard, the Fire Station hosted Gasparilla Parade parties each year. Bruce Redden owned Fire Station #3, till 1998 when the building was sold to another private owner, Bruce Berg.

It's a small town, everyone knows everyone's name. The locals are as tan as can be but also friendly. My wife loves it so much that I'm considering buying a condo. The town is great for people of all economical backgrounds.

In later years the town has evolved into a sponge industry tourist attraction and it is a great place to find Greek food. This bronze copper statue replaces an older fiberglass model from 1975. The Sponge Diver statue was dedicated in 2002, "In Memory of the Spongers of Tarpon Springs". The statue depicts a young man in his rubber diving suit and boots, holding his helmet in one arm. Many sponge divers died on the job. This statue stands a memorial to the lives lost while pursuing this dangerous profession. You can find the Sponge Diver Statue across from the Sponge Exchange, just west of Athens St. on Dodecanese Blvd. As a fan of public art I was pleased to make the Sponge Diver's acquaintance.

So glad to see the docks and merchants survived Idalia's storm surfer but there were a couple of shops advertising "storm sales". Great event, plenty of bargains from local and visiting artists in addition to regular merchants. I love the Sponge Docks!

I ended up having a very positive experience with the City of Largo Building Division. When I arrived, the woman at the front desk was pleasant and welcoming while checking me in. I was then immediately taken back to speak with Rachel, who took the time to listen, research my issue, answer my questions, and even speak with a higher up to help clarify what was going on. I had been working on this issue with my contractor for nearly two months, and the same day I left the office, my contractor finally agreed to complete the work that had been pending. Rachel did not rush me and handled the situation with professionalism and care. Both she and the front desk receptionist were kind and wished me a great day as I left. I'm grateful for the help I received.

Everything feels accessible, and there's always something close by no matter what you're in the mood for. We really enjoy the WingHouse and Finleys Irish pub. Where Largo really shines, though, is its parks and outdoor spaces. Largo Central Park is an absolute highlight beautifully maintained with walking paths, open green space, and a peaceful atmosphere that's perfect for a morning stroll or letting the kids run around. The Largo Central Park Nature Preserve is another gem, offering a quieter, more natural setting with trails and wildlife that make you feel like you've escaped the city for a bit. They have a local mural too. The attractions and nearby spots just add to the experience. You're not far from some of the best beaches in Florida, and there are plenty of places to explore, relax, and take in the scenery. It seems to entail much of the local flora and fauna of Florida as well as local fauna like the roosters/hens of Ybor city. It also has hints of Tampa history with regards to the Gasparilla festival and also touches on outdoor/active life hobbies of the area. It's really well kept and actually looks quite new but I'm not sure since I'm not from here. I love local art, street art, murals, sculpture, and almost everything else artistic. I'm thankful that someone took the time to paint this super large mural that apparently has a lot of meaning to the people of Tampa and Florida. This mural is about a block away from the City of Tampa Mural at 1102 N. Florida Ave, so if you like murals, just walk over and check the other one out. The All For Love mural appears to be by the husband/wife team studio of Michelle Sawyer and Tony Krol.
