AMAZING FOOD! We've been coming here for about 8 years. We used to come for the buffet when we lived nearby, but haven't been able to for the last couple years. We still get takeout every time we are in the area. The person at the checkout counter can be kinda hit or miss. It's usually the same person. He can be nice or sometimes maybe stressed out. He's never rude or unkind tho. Just seems stressed sometimes. At the end of the day ... good food, decent prices. Would definitely recommend. read more

Great food and great service. We will be going to this great restaurant more often, if you want authentic Indian food, this is the place to go. Don't take my word for it, try it your self, you will see the food is great! read more

I have eaten here many times. The food is always incredible. On this last visit I brought my wife and daughter. Daughter had never tried Indian food, and she loved it. The ambiance is great, and the service is always attentive and super polite. read more

Wondeful spot, delicious food and longevity behind them. The buffet is very affordable, $14 at the time of my visit. It is small, but has some excellent selections. Love all of the food. Service is also above standard. Waitstaff is friendly, helpful and quick to remove used plates and deliver drinks. The place is old, but kept clean and it has a very welcoming feel. This is one of my favorites for Indian food and has been for a long time. I ate everything so quickly, I forgot to take picts. read more

Amazing and awesome food ! Thank for the great customer service. Would recommend this place.

The reviews are very misleading. The tikka masala taste like tomato soup. the spiciest level isn't even spicy. Both tikka masala's have no flavor whatsoever. Service is okay. But the food shouldn't be rated this high. it's not even good read more

Nice size buffet. Friendly staff but few disappointments. The tandoori which we all go for was very dry to the point of not edible. The biggest disappointment was the mango pudding. Very pale orange and not mangoey in flavor more vanilla/ butterscotch. The naan was not memorable, store bought and warmed. The other entrees were acceptable. read more

2.5 stars really - What a disappointment. Ordered through GrubHub. Ordered Paneer Tikka Masala, got Dal Turka instead - I don't care for Dal ... ordered Vindaloo Chicken - it tasted like extremely spicy tomato sauce, the spice was overwhelming; ordered Malai Kofta, spicy - ironically this dish had no spice. The overall flavor was good just missing the requested spice. read more

I ordered from here, so I can't speak to the location. But it is the best chicken masala I have had since moving to San Antonio 6 years ago. Great flavor. Large portion. Reasonable price. read more

It's been a few years since I've been here and it was just as delicious as before. I forgot how your senses are hit with the smell of all the wonderful spices when you walk in. You know you're going to eat something flavorful. My daughter and I went during lunch for the buffet. I'm not a fan of a lot of buffets but this is one of the few exceptions. You get to try different dishes. And like time I visited service was very attentive. I just wish they were closer to my work because I'd be going a lot more often. read more

I'm not an adventurous eater at times, in fact this is the 2nd time I have had Indian food , my first experience put me off for several years . India Oven changed my opinion. I went for lunch and had the buffet that has big selection including a few desserts. I can't remember all the names of the dishes but I loved the rice, tandoori chicken, and eggplant dish, meatballs and soup. Truly everything was delicious. The servers were very patient, I waited 15 minutes at the table before my friend showed up and I was treated well by the server. Lunch stops serving at 2:30pm and they close at that time , reopen at a later time for dinner. read more

The service is terrible! I've been coming here for years and the owner has always been very rude. The owner told me I can't get a to go plate anymore because I always come in and load up my plate but I've been doing this for years he's never said anything but would always give a mean stare. The buffet to go plates have gotten smaller and the price has gone up to $17. I always share a plate with my husband but the owner didn't bother saying anything to my husband when he paid for the plate! He only confronted me while my husband was in the bathroom what a coward! read more

My Fiance and I decided to come check out this restaurant since we kept seeing so many ads about them on social media. We love Indian food and were so excited to give this place a try due to its authentic look. The food did not disappoint, my chicken curry was delicious, I chose the mild spice thinking it would have a little kick but it wasn't spicy at all, next time I would probably request a little bit of spice. My Fiance chose the medium level for his masala and he also didn't feel as though it was that spicy. The service was a bit backed up because the restaurant had a private event happening which caused delays with our food but other than that it was a great experience! read more

A good Indian restaurant is one of my favorite experiences. The food was awesome. The service so great. Really appreciated the atmosphere, the people and food. Highly recommend! We will be back. read more

Good food, but when someone orders $35 worth of takeout and you don't throw in nine cents worth of utensils, that is less than ideal. Even more problematic, when they call to ask about it and you're snotty? That's a good way to not have a repeat customer. read more

Yum, Yum, Yum! Samosas were crispy on the outside, potatoes inside were cooked all the way through, and just a small kick of spicy. Before we ordered those, chaat was brought to our table with the traditional red and green sauce. (Not sure what they're called) Was asked if I wanted my vindaloo medium or really spicy. I chose spicy and boy did they deliver. It wasn't unbearable hot but had to finish on some garlic naan to help with the burn. The amount was ample, leaving plenty for leftovers. *YAY* This is the place to go! read more

Great buffet, good price. Brought some new friends for a team building luncheon. They had never been, but they left full and happy. The buffet has some regular items, rotating items, and sometimes specialty items. I'm glad they have naan, pakora, and the tandoori chicken. They always have some sort of of saag (or spinach dish), they rotate their curried meat. Yesterday they had curry chicken and meatball vindaloo. They even rotate the deserts sometimes it's mango yogurt, but yesterday they had kheer (rice pudding) and gulab jamun (like cake balls drenched in syrup). I buried two giant plates of buffet, and topped it off with hot chai (cardamon tea). It was all good. I will certainly keep it as a go to location for Indian food here in SA. read more

It has been two years since my first 5 star review of this restaurant. I am posting again as an update. The service is so good here. You don't have a chance to need anything. There always seems to be someone nearby paying attention to your needs. It's the very best service I have ever had outside of fine dining. The food? Reliable. It's always amazing. We live far from this restaurant and have tried other restaurants closer to home but this is THE BEST we've found. It's worth our 40 min drive. I always get the Prawns Masala. It's so perfect, you should try it. The restaurant is always clean and inviting. It's pretty inside. I'd recommend it for family night or even a date night. read more

Service was good. The only thing our server lacked on was telling us that we could order something on the menu. We came here wanting chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, cheese naan, and garlic naan -- not knowing this was a buffet spot. So, we ate a few things at buffet (new for us), and when I went to get some naan that they had, it was hard, as if, it's been sitting in the warmer for a long time. My daughter stated that she wanted chicken tikka masala, and the server at the other table heard her, and he came over and told us that we can order whatever was on the menu, but it would be an extra charge for the chicken tikka masala, along with the buffet charge, but we didn't mind it. Once my daughters chicken tikka masala came, we tried it, and grrrrr...it was overpowered by the tomato base. Sadly, we're on the hunt for another Indian spot. read more

This past Friday, my parents and I visited India Oven for their weekday lunch buffet around 1:00PM. While crowded, we were still able to find a table and sit down almost immediately. The staff quickly took our drinks and told us that we could go up to the buffet line to get started. I am usually reluctant to visit Indian restaurants as the food is generally too spicy for me, but I decided to try a bit of everything from the buffet line this time (with the exception of items specifically marked extra spicy). Much to my surprise, everything had only a mild heat level and was packed full of flavor. The items in the buffet line were continually being refreshed / replenished and I never felt like something had been sitting out awhile. The staff also continually came around to clear empty plates and refill drinks. I was impressed with the food and the service and would absolutely go back! read more

This restaurant had tons of reviews and a lot of stars so we were so excited to try another Indian restaurant, but sadly we were disappointed! The service was top notch, your water cup will never reach the halfway point before being refilled. We ordered vegetable samosa, chicken pakora, and dal soup. Everything was overly salty ( and I love me some salt) the outer shell of the samosa wasn't as crispy and flaky as I'm used to, the chicken pakora had too much salt and seasoning and the dal soup had an overwhelming amount of salt. We ordered goat biryani, chicken korma, Gobi Manchurian and a side of naan. The goat biryani was really good, it had a lot great textures, and flavors! The chicken korma was bland. They used cubed chicken breast and most likely just added it to the sauce. The Gobi was really spicy and tasted sour. I order ras malai for dessert and unfortunately that wasn't good either. Not impressed read more

This is the best Indian food I've found in San Antonio so far, AND they have a buffet. Everyone was really kind and kept my water glass filled, and the restaurant was clean and beautiful. We will definitely be back. read more

What a vibe. I stumbled upon this place heading home with the search for "Indian food" in my gps on a Saturday night. The place was packed but the vibe was cozy, romantic, intimate. Couples were sipping wine and families were enjoying their meals under soft red lights mixed with soft chatter. I saw buffet tables which I overheard someone mention they have buffets during lunch hours with the exception of Mondays. I ordered the Dal soup, Vegetable Pakoras, Paneer Pakora, garlic naan, and Matar Mushroom, all delish! Il take the spice level up next time. While waiting for my to-go order I watched the food come out in these adorable silver trays. Cannot wait to dine in on the next date night read more

Love love love LOVE this place!! Seriously THE best authentic Indian Food in San Antonio. Family owned business and they have always been consistent in service and quality of food. I love the decor of this restaurant. We went in on a Sunday around 12ish and they had a buffet out & it was all the things we would normally get and a little more! Truly the best buffet experience I've had. Staff is amazing as well, servers keep an eye on you for refills and make sure that you are well taken care of. Thank you India Oven Staff! I look forward to coming back again. read more

Hidden gem! The portions here are huge for dinner. They are definitely shareable. Food was so good and prepared to satisfy. The mango lasi was delicious. During the lunch hour they have buffet until 2 pm. This holiday season they will be open and have some special meals planned. Great atmosphere and good selection of wine and beers. The sag paneer was so good. Love how they section the menu but if you need suggestions just ask. They were very happy to help depending on what you like. Plenty of parking too. Finally found a consistently delicious Indian food restaurant! Our first experience here was a busy Saturday night with barely a parking spot in sight. Great sign that the food is going to be fabulous. Since it was so busy, they had to open their party room in the back which was absolutely beautiful. We ordered a mango lassi and the dinner for two. We wanted to sample some dishes we had never tried and were not disappointed. The portion sizes are generous and everything was extreme flavorful. If we lived closer we would definitely be here weekly! It's our new date night spot and we can't wait to head back. read more

This place is great, it's my new go to Indian food spot. I've tried the chicken saag, chicken tikka, and Malai kofta as well as the chicken pakoras and garlic naan. Everything has been really good! It's all served family style with rice. They also give papadum and chutney to every table. read more

The food was amazing. I got the lamb vindaloo and my boyfriend got the tandoori prawns. Both were delicious. The tandoori prawns is much lighter than the vindaloo btw. The service was great for Valentine's Day with a bit of a wait on the main course but it was worthwhile. The building is amazingly decorated. Super special dinner. read more

Fantastic and Flavorful! Of course, ordered my two guilty pleasures - Masala Tea (hot tea steaped with oils and spices) and my precious Kashimiri Naan bread (Naan filled with nuts and fruits). A bread soooo good I will drive 45-min across town to have, place 2 orders at dinner because I am definitely not sharing with my husband and get another order to go (because it is fantastic for breakfast the next day), yes I like it that much!!! We started with an assortment of papadum with sauces which is always crisp and light. We decided to order the Spinach Pakora which is spinach leaves dipped in batter from beans and deep fried. I don't like my Popeye the Sailor greens but I scarf these down like potato chips. Next we had the Paneer Tikka appetizer and OMG, little of the lime on top and how can you beat spiced fried cheese with onions and a pickled slaw. We finished off with two vegetable dishes even though we are not vegetarians. Sag Paneer and Malai Korma which were served with perfect rice, medium spice because I like the spice to make my nose run a little. After our satisfyingly decadent meal, we packed up our leftovers and took my tomorrow Naan (LOL) and headed foe the long drive home happy and ready for the next cross town trip. read more

Really nice Indian restaurant. Beautiful and clean. Great staff who are very attentive. My only complaint is the roti, paratha, or chapati, (whatever they call it) had no salt. It desperately needed salt! It was completely tasteless. It may be customary to not use salt...but this is America. We are used to having salt in our food. Without it, there is no flavor. Also, the chicken was quite dry. That was not the case the first time I ate here...then, it was moist and tender. Nevertheless, I will continue to come to Indian Oven because the positives far outweigh the negatives! read more

The restaurant was very clean with white table cloths and extremely attentive staff. Indian music played in the background. The buffet area was clean and food being replenished regularly so it was fresh, hot and delicious. There was an event in the banquet room behind us with a large crowd. This did not interfere with our prompt service. I highly recommend India Oven. read more

India Oven - Naan, butter chicken, 36. Tandoori Chicken - Indian Near Me - San Antonio, Texas

This was my birthday meal. Misses asked what I wanted and have wanted to try this place. Man was it good. Normally buffets with little options are not very good. I guess you can offer a smaller buffet when everything is great and fresh. Everything here was either good or amazing. The mango lassis here are better than anywhere here in town I've had them. They have to be doing something different. I started off with Samosas, mixed veggies, tandoori chicken, and meatballs. All delicious. The naan and fry bread were also good. The servers are very attentive with refilling the tea and water. I also had veggie pakora, and chicken makhani. About the only thing I may say was not that great was the rice. I can't believe I'm saying this about an Indian restaurant rice, but the rice lacked more flavor. There were others I wanted to try but I kept getting my favorites. Finished off with the kheer and galub jamun. I'm not a fan of either, but again here they are doing something different that I quite enjoyed them! We will be coming back again! The whole family loved it! Great birthday meal! read more

The staff was incredibly kind and generous. The food was good, not great. I found the lamb to be a little dry, the goat in my biryani was a little tough and the rice to be slightly undercooked but I'm split hairs because it all tasted good. Overall my experience was good. read more

We arrived hungry and left stuffed with a box of leftovers each. We each ordered a Shahi Royal dinner for 1. I expected it served thali style, but it was an immensely huge portion of food. Good food, but I can't say I had anything that would make me return. The tomato coconut soup was the highlight. It had an unusual silky delicious flavor. The tandoori chicken was tasty but a little dry, I've been spoiled with all the great pollo asado places in SA that serve very moist grilled chicken. The goat curry while tasty was under spiced in terms of heat and salt. A good goat curry should be lip smacking addictive. Service was good and attentive. read more
