Independence Cinema - Detective Sheep Movie - Cinema Near Me - Independence, Oregon

This place needs new management. The little bald guy is so rude. He kicked my friend and I out for outside snacks after maybe 3 minutes of the movie. Clearly they have cameras scouting out food and drinks. There are no signs that we saw to indicate that we were not allowed to bring anything in. I do not recommend this theater if you actually want to enjoy your movie. read more

Brought in snacks and angry bald man kicked us out as soon as the movie started. no warning or let us throw it away. so incredibly rude will never come back to this movie theatre again. read more

They threw popcorn at us. They then proceeded to say that we cannot enter without having our IDs on us and we both are over 21 and yet they still continue to say that we cannot watch the movie without showing our IDs. They did not let us refund our tickets we called corporate and they said the same thing, it was too late. They also kicked out other people too. read more

I like this theatre. Always clean, staff are friendly and helpfull. A issue for me is often the ticket window is closed so you are forced to stand in the food lines to get a ticket. Last night it was a 15 minute wait. Two employees working as fast as they could to get popcorn and drinks while there were four employees. One coming and going from an office so I imagine they were in management. Wake up! If there are long lines. Help out! read more

Horrible customer service. Bald guy came in and stared at me and my kids for a good two minutes while we were watching the movie. Then he said no outside food. I had bought them some candy earlier and they were eating it. We also bought popcorn and bottled water at the theater. Spent over $85. He said throw it away in front of him or leave. We did both. Never will go back there again and will be spreading the word to friends and family. There's a better way to handle this! I didn't see any signs stating no candy or outside food. read more

0 stars. Worker (younger dude longer hair) came and stared at me for 3 minutes. Saw that I was eating a bag of candy that I didn't purchase from the theatre and immediately kicked us out with no warning, horrible attitude. I've been to many different movie theatres in my life and not single one has ever cared about that. You don't get paid enough to care that much bro. read more

There really should be a spot to choose zero stars. The owner is the male at the snack bar who is rude and condescending? My parents are in their 80s they go to the movies every Tuesday for Date night. Tonight after over 5 years was the first time they needed to know their seat number to order food, my mom not having it went to get my dad who had the ticket inside the movie theater. My dad then ordered the food told them what theater number and seat they were in, the food NEVER CAME. So my mom went out to ask and CHANCE THE OWNER so degrading, condescending and just out right nasty and rude to my mom. Then he decided to kick my parents out of the movies. After reading all these reviews it seems like CHANCE kicks people out often after they have paid for their tickets.. This is a form of theft, I don't care how much the tickets it's the point that he is doing this to many people. On top of kicking them out he issued an 80 year old couple a TRESPASSING CITATION. You should be ashamed of yourself Chance! Don't worry they won't ever go back to you scummy establishment. DO BETTER! read more

Independence Cinema - Chance the rude owner. - Cinema Near Me - Independence, Oregon

My first trip to a theatre since COVID. They are doing assigned seating which is no big deal and this was a Sunday with not many people wanting to see Cocaine Bear. Excellent seats and a good concession stand. I'm glad I made it back into the movies. I still wear a mask everywhere in public and it's the movies no one is looking anyway. All in all good solid experience. I would go again not on an opening night for fear there would be too many people for my liking. I'll definitely give this place a try again. read more

Ants in the theater. Employees give no F's. Not really enjoyable to have to kill a dozen ants crawling on your body to watch a movie...

We had the worst experience ever the manager named Chance was so rude to us he kicked us out for have very any little outside food and the popcorn was so black and had holes in popcorn that made me choke and did I mention that we were being stared at in the middle of the movies, so rude THIS WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!!! read more

Honestly worse movie theatre to go to I recommend northern lights for a cheaper and better option the manager chance is honestly miserable with his life or at leased it seems that way I came in with my girlfriend and her 2 siblings which of course we brought snacks as everyone else does we were kicked out and had the police called on us when we went to leave chance locked us inside the theatre mind you we have 2 underage children with us the cops told us outside that to just go home I figure they get calls about this guy all the time business owner either needs to fire him or make him a janitor so it will match his attitude hope you see this chance hope it makes you a better person than you choose to be everyday at your miserable job read more

Bald Owner was rude. Just because we snuck in snacks and got kicked which is understandable. but he doesnt have to yell at me and my little sister , which by the way loves LILO and stitch and even had a stitch costume on (that's the movie we were watching.). Worst movie theater in Oregon never going back, food is expensive for no reason, staff is extremely disrespectful, And called the cops on us, and locked us in movie theatre. Then we went outside on the curb talking to POLICE read more

Best movie theater popcorn! Wonderful local cinema that my family has frequented for years

Very nice staff, great new releases! Easy to pay and pick seating online. Will definitely be back again

If you are a parent with young kids, apparently this is not the place for you. My husband, my 2 kids and I went to see Mufasa. As a mom I always bring drinks that my kids actually like (one was water) as well as extra bags for the popcorn for them. THEY'RE KIDS! We still bought the $10 popcorn, still bought the tickets. The guy literally walked right up to us and said 'no outside food, you need to leave' after just standing on the side staring at us for an hour and half way through the movie. Really?! I would have gladly thrown out their drinks. We had the only kids in the theatre... they cried all the way out and back home. I hope he sleeps well tonight. read more

Love that this theater is large enough to have multiple movie options but not a huge theater like some in Salem. Decent food prices and comfortable feeling. read more

It was an alright theater, bigger than expected, but the tint was iffy and the sound was mediocre. If it is for smaller movies / films it's alright it gets the job done for those who want a theater experience. Definitely not for blockbuster flicks. read more

Male owner named Chance was aggressive towards my young children. He got uncomfortably close to my 17 year old daughter. I will never be bringing my children back to this theater. I don't recommend anyone who is a parent come to this theater!! read more

Staff was extremely rude and condescending. The staff running the food and drink was rude. no smile or even a "you're welcome." My friends and I got made fun of by staff for not knowing the room for the movie we were supposed to go in. also got brutally kicked out not even halfway through the movie for bringing a water bottle and a soda can. he said we weren't respecting businesses, even though we bought $20 worth of popcorn and $20 worth of snacks. read more

Worst experience we have ever had at a theater. We were verbally berated by management for bringing snacks that my medically sick child could eat, and after asking us one time we were then kicked to the curb. My 3 kids left sobbing and when I took the high road and offered my sincere apologies management had no grace for us. Sure I got upset; who wouldn't? It's a kids movie and we weren't harming anyone. The theater was half empty, the movie wish is almost out of the theaters, and they kicked us out for harming no one. We left with my kids in tears and their day ruined. I totally understand rules and how to handle these situations but there is also an opportunity for kindness and customer service that was never shown. The employee that first asked us to get rid of the snacks was extremely rude and forceful in his tone. Even when told our child is sick and cannot eat their food they had no care for us. When does a business decide that holding the line on something so minor become the hill to die on, ruining an entire experience and holiday for children? I'm sure they will make me out to be a terrible person because terrible people take their kids to see wish for a second time dressed in the costume on New Year's Day. My family will never dine or shop in the city of Independence again. read more

kicked me and my family out RIGHT in the middle of the movie we were watching for no reason, staff was not respectful, and what makes the first part even worse was the fact that my family was the only one with kids. don't go here!! read more

Great theater! Lots of movie choices, clean comfortable atmosphere. Clean restrooms, great snack bar. The popcorn is really good here. The seats are comfy too. We come here often as a family and also for date night! Make sure you get a punch card! Also try the popcorn flavors! read more

Close to home Theater is nice. Several different movies are shown in different small theaters. Lots at the Concession stand. Good place to take your kids. read more

Cute little theater. This place fits right in within the town of Independence. They always have the newest movies so it's always a reliable spot. Out front are some iconic status that are a perfect photo opportunity. Inside the prices are cheap which of course is amazing. Popcorn is under $5 and they have a $12 combo where you get a large popcorn and two drinks! Great deal. This is a very cozy theater and it's a great stop for families or for a date night. read more

This place is alright the 1 good thing about this theater is how loud it is but that's a personal opinion. This movie theater is more expensive than the amc corvallis and it not nearly as good. When the trailers were starting they still had the lights on and cleaning .A small drink is $5 and they put a lot of ice in the cup and their popcorn is also the worst popcorn I have had in a movie theater. I only reccomend going there on $5 tuesday unless you want to pay $11.25 for one single ticket in a small town. Even on $5 tuesday there's multiple middle schoolers that go that have 0 respect and make it hard to enjoy any movie. read more

I live in a neighboring city and I try to go here instead of anywhere else. I love that it is so close to home. Their prices are usually lower than other theaters, and they have many options to choose from for snacks. You can purchase your seats ahead of time and from the comfort of your own home or even on your phone! The staff are courteous and approachable. As for the atmosphere, I love the huge picture with all the old movie stars. If you have never been you should give it a try. read more

Not that great experience today. The young man John has no customer service skills and there should have been a manager on duty. John you need to listen to customers. Nobody went to their assigned seating. Maybe some did but a lot did not because ours was taken we went to some empty seats. Then someone said we were in their seats. So there was a huge confrontation disrupted the movie. The people went and got John who treated us rudely. We told him where our seats were but he would not listen the 3 nice ladies moved and they said their seats were taken. I am sorry but I have never been to a theater where you had assigned seats. This place being lazy decided to keep pandemic seating in place. They had 2 young kids running the place. Anyways long ugly story short John and the girl in there on Monday Jan 16th at 1pm were awful. The owner should not let kids run a business and have no manager on duty. He threatened us and said he reported us to manager and he could kick us out. I said nicely John we just wanted to let you know we had no seats. He then raised his voice in defense I walked away. I doubt the managers give a damn so I doubt will anything from them. The kid owes us an apology. He needs to be trained in customer service. read more

Had a very poor experience they were very persistent on me and my friends following a policy however they did not follow their own policy. They sold me two tickets for a rated R movie but only asked to see my ID and not the other person that I purchased the ticket for . And did not let my friend purchase tickets because she did not have her physical ID however the girl there said that a picture of the ID would be fine. read more

Great place to go and watch a movie. Kind of out of the way, but much smaller crowds. Very clean. Employees are nice. They always get the most popular movies. Highly recommended. read more

The addition of this movie theatre to Polk County - Independence is a plus. Pros: *I appreciate that they partner with local schools and allow movie tickets to be purchased and a portion goes to the fund raising cause. * Inside the theatre is clean and the chairs are comfortable. The arm rests have a place for soda or they can be put up if you don't want to use them. * Price for an evening 3-D show is a little pricy, but they often offer a 2-D option of the same movie at a different time. Cons: * Occasional sound issues during the advertisements - not a big deal, but I'm sure the advertising businesses would care. * Concessions are a bit pricy for a small town theatre: $15+ for a 2 drinks, large popcorn & a candy. $4 for a 32 oz or smaller drink. More expensive than Disney. *I love popcorn while watching movies. They boast about their popcorn with advertising claiming it is the best that there is. The kernels are huge, but flavorless. Air popped popcorn with real butter would win in a land-slide any day in my opinion, but out of all the theaters I've been to, the popcorn at Independence Cinema is always a let down. * We've been mis-directed to the wrong theatre a few times, and have missed a few minutes. I have heard a few others have had the same issues. Glad it's here. A few changes could make it more community & family friendly while enhancing the experience. read more

For a small town theater... I can't really complain. The lobby is pretty clean and neat. There are usually three people working at the counter so it could be pretty slow getting your tickets. The movie theater itself -its not like the big town ones. The picture quality is ok.. The sound is ok.. Everything is ok... read more

This small-town cinema has metro-movie-theater quality seats, nicely sized theaters, and a good lineup at any given point. It is less of a drive from South Salem than the Santiam/Lancaster theaters and never had a line of more than three people in it in my experience either at the ticketing booth or the concessions counter. Clean, neat, not too flashy outside and has a nice red carpet feel. Cozy and doesn't have huge annoying crowds. This is my favorite in the Salem area, gotta admit. read more

Yes it is a small town theater. But the staff ROCK and are super friendly. The theater isn't state of the art but not by much. No need to go into Salem for a movie as this place has great sound, seating, staff and comparable prices. read more

I used to love coming to this theatre but then the COVID nonsense hit. The only reason I didn't rate this a two was because a smart business minded young man knew we would spend a lot of money on the movie and food, so he allowed me to go maskless. Smart move! read more

Nice theater, competitive ticket prices, and concession prices. Sound is good, but screen quality is just ok.
