I visited a Improv Broadway show about a year ago that was dungeons and dragons themed. It was good, but as someone who is not familiar with the game I did not leave super impressed. However, my husband and I decided to pay another visit this evening, and holy cow I am so glad that we did! Tonight's show featured their main cast and a musical style second act. We were blown away by how talented these actors are in terms of singing, acting, and thinking on the spot; their jokes and spontaneity had us rolling! I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard. We will definitely be coming back with friends :-) There will be mess-ups, unexpected twists, and I guarantee the cast on the stage will be laughing too. It's a warm and fun environment that everyone living in Provo should experience at some point. 10/10 ! read more

What started out as a spontaneous, unplanned night out, suddenly turned into a hilarious let loose time. I was surprisingly impressed with ImprovBroadway. I believe this is a newer location for them and we fell upon it while Yelping something to do after dinner. The improv actors were witty and more legit than expected. They were impressive and fun to watch. This would be a fantastic activity for a family with teenage kids. Younger kids (under 12 probably) would just be confused and bored. Oh! It would be so nice if they offered a kid version improv! My kids would love that. They have a contract with BYU so you can guarantee the shows are always clean. That's reassuring. Many moons ago, I came here for a Yelp event. It was really fun, and all improv. I liked it a lot, laughed my head off, and we had a really big crowd there. That's a fun way to spend an evening. More recently, however, I was looking for some laughs and was going to be in Provo, and remembered this spot. I looked up online and that had something called Stand Upshots? Stand Up Shots? I dunno--it was a stand up night with improv in between the comedians. On the positive side, the up and comer stand up crowd was pretty funny. The format of having the comedian's material serve as improv fodder sounds like a great idea, but actually just wasn't my favorite. But kudos to all those kids for trying. It's not the coziest theater, not the nicest, but honestly it fits there in Provo and I had some really good laughs. And, you know, laughs are the thing that you're coming here to have. read more

I hesitate to give this review because improv is really hard and the folks at ImprovBroadway are clearly passionate about their craft. It's such a small group that it honestly feels a little personal giving negative feedback. I respect the niche they're looking to fill in Utah County. But man, I just didn't think it was funny at all. The lead guy/owner, Zach, seems to have some natural talent, though I think he'd be better at standup, since the most amusing parts of the show were his intro at the beginning and his interactions with the crowd. It was downhill from there. The skits all just went on wayyyyy too long, and the musical format did not work for me. Improv is difficult enough when it's just the spoken word, and then you throw in having to harmonize and come up with rhyming lyrics and whatnot. The singing itself got really shouty and unpleasant. It was bad. Really bad. Every time the music started up, I cringed. The whole thing just felt like a sledgehammer. It's my personal opinion that they should ditch the singing and focus on knocking out multiple shorter structured rapid-fire scenes. Then again, this is probably all down to personal taste, as the rest of their reviews elsewhere seem good. I suspect it works well for Provo's unique demographics and people hungry for clean comedy, and I'm all for clean comedy. Just not my thing. read more

These 4 talented improv guys are fantastic! How they come up with the funny things they say are so quick is just beyond me. Improv talent at its finest! We loved every minutes of it. Time went so fast laughing and having a great time. The only draw back was that it came to an end. We could have gone on for 2 additional hours. This was an evening well spent. I was lucky enough to come here two nights in a row! The first night was for an Elite Yelp Event, which was how I heard about ImprovBroadway. I loved it so much I came back for more! This time, my wife and I brought my 12 year old son. We had no hesitation that the content would be appropriate for him and at $10 a ticket it felt like a steal! The show was interactive and fun-and completely different from the night before. The cast was even slightly different, which gives variety to frequent audience members. I love the tip jar and credit card machine option to leave tips. Ingenious! read more

Great comedy. This place has got musical full of audience suggestions. The performers don't even know the melody of the song yet are singing to and you would never know. They praise the audience, and accept praise from them. Hilarious, comfortable, great concessions, and it's not so full that it makes you feel claustrophobic. Last time I was here the show was named The Curse of the Mistletoe. Literally my suggestion. Reindeer scientists, a Christmas angle, it was crazy funny. Guys, ImprovBroadway is the REAL DEAL. And you can trust me on this cuz I'm speaking on this as an audience member AND a graduated improv student. You can't find better, cleaner, and cheaper entertainment and comedy anywhere else in Utah County, heck maybe even Utah, than IB. The mainstage cast are some of the most talented guys I know. Improv is hard and scary and requires so much creative juice that these guys must be drowning in it. BUT you can do it too if you join one of their co-horts (shameless plug). As a student, my experience was so great. I looked forward to going to class every week. Class goes from Improv 101 to 401, where you graduate and are certified after 401. Each class is five weeks, so the entire program is 20 weeks, give or take any breaks. And don't fear the commitment because they work with you to make your schedule work. Along the way, you perform free shows to friends and family and the community to show off your new chops. DON'T be discouraged, I am NOT usually comfortable in those types of settings but it's like playing fun games on stage with your improv friends. I took 101 as a trial with every intention to stop after the first five weeks. And now I'm certified at the 401 level and I love the IB community! Mainstage cast shows are Saturday nights for $5 if you buy them online pre-show. A good laugh for that cheap? It's no joke. Plus, on Friday night's and scattered week nights, there are generally free shows you can attend if $5 requires you to break your piggy bank (save the pigs). So you will never miss out on the laughs if you follow them on Facebook where they post their show schedules. The shows themselves are super engaging and interactive. There is never a dull moment. It's insane how creative and quick these main stage cast members are able to come up with these musicals that are HILARIOUS. So don't you dare leave early, you'll miss out on the best part of the show, the BROADWAY. read more

Zack, the owner of improvbroadway is brilliant. Can I just say that if I had 1/5 of his talent I wouldn't be wasting it in Provo. The intimate stage setup is more Akin to a family living room. in fact the platform for the performers is so small I kept wondering if someone was going to fall off the edge. The show we watched was primarily filled with improv songs so if you don't like musicals you might want to check ahead to see what their plans are for the evening. It's clever, clean entertainment filled with belly laughs. But again if you want straight improv without the music make sure that's on tap before you get there or you might be annoyed. read more

This crew is the best improv I've seen over the years. They are so good at their craft, I always get a fantastic laugh at their shows (and I've gone several times.) On top of just the usual improv, they sing improv, which doubles the awesomeness of the performance. Wish I had something like them where I live in Dallas. I've also taken the classes from them, which was really fun, educational, and something I recommend for anyone interested in learning improv themselves. read more

I personally have never heard of clean comedy before, but wow is it fuuuuuunnnnnyyyy, I haven't laughed so hard since the time my brother walked into our sliding patio door! They can literally make anything funny! Loved the musical improv here! They have some polished improv people. The ending to their musical totally wrapped up every joke and subplot and surprised me in all the best ways. It was so fun to see how it really clicked. I laughed almost the whole time! For context, I've been to several improv places around here and think these guys are worth seeing. I am a hard sell so four stars is really good. They'd get five stars from me if all of them did more physical comedy/used motion and body language more. (Two of them did a lot, and the other two were verbally really funny and could have increased that by being more physically expressive). read more

We have been to quite a few comedy shows and this one was AWESOME. It's really hard to find clean comedy these days and for some people, "clean" isn't as funny but I can assure you, that couldn't be further from the truth with these guys. Not only was the show hilarious, but the prices are unbeatable and the show was nearly 2 hours! I love how much they interact with the audience and besides the fact that it's hilarious, they are also extremely talented. The fact that they come up with content on the spot makes it even more entertaining.
