I am so impressed and completely satisfied by the service I received at Import Specialties from Wes. I brought in my 2020 Audi Q3 that I bought used for a 60,000 mile service. Since I had no idea what the previous owner had done in terms of maintenance, I was mentally prepared for any "big issues" that may come up. But to my delight, Wes reported that the car was in great shape, and the air filters (which were to be inspected/changed for the 60,000 mile service), looked brand new and saw no need to replace them. My son's fairly new Silverado had a braking issue. He had Wesley check it out, but Wesley could not reproduce the issue. Finally, the other day, the problem occurred again and this time Wesley was able to pull a code on the issue. He left it overnight and Wesley had fixed the next day. Required reprogramming the brakes (or something like that). Son was happy with the service and quality of the work. I can't say enough about this place. My family were three generation customers when Carl owned this shop, and we loved his always friendly, expert advice and work. We also loved his dogs. I was saddened when we last spoke with Carl to learn that he was retiring and had sold his shop. This was not long after the Bymars retired and sold their tire store whom we had been customers of since 1986. Well, on a Sunday, my grandson's car just stopped running, and we decided to give these guys a try. We had his car trailered in that day and dropped off the keys, but as I drove around the back, I saw an auto shop that was open, and I stopped and asked if this was Carl's old place. Wes, the owner, came out and said "yes", and we had a nice talk. Besides fixing the obvious issue, on Monday, they did a thorough examination and pointed out other areas that needed attention and others that could wait. We agreed on what to deal with on this visit, and he promised a time for completion, which he met precisely and at a fair price. Service is terrible. Appointments are difficult to get. Followup on ordered parts is nonexistent. On different occasions, said he would order parts for my car and never heard from again. Same happened to my stepfather. Also repair time is excessively long. On another occasion wouldn't work on air conditioning and referred me to a shoddy air conditioning service where I received poor quality workmanship. Will never go here again Followup to response. All that information was never conveyed to me for months. Only now, after I give a yelp review does he care to followup. Also got the OEM parts I needed from another auto repair in days. Carl is a wonderful mechanic and he continues to diagnose and repair the problems I've had with my 2009 SRX over the last year. I can't imagine taking my car to anyone else. Is honest mechanic on oxymoron? Not at Import Specialties. I have taken multiple vehicles to Carl. Multiple times he could have simply charged me for unnecessary work but instead he did some exploratory work that involved me spending $200 instead of $1200 or more. I actually trust his insight and that he does what's in our best interest not just his. Sent my friend to Carl who had some trans problems. After Carl inspected, he told them their trans was toast and seek a rebuild. Charged them a pittance for the inspection. I've even taken a non-import (Ford) to him for an oil change. Here's what Carl has worked on for us: **Honda Element: CV boot leak assessment and repair, multiple oil changes **Nissan Armada: AC control repair, multiple oil changes **Toyota Prius: 12v battery replacement (dealer wanted $300 +, Carl charged $230 including battery) **Nissan Titan: oil changes, tire rotations Thumbs up for Import Specialties. read more

This review is long overdue, I took my daughter's Jetta in for service as well as oil change. One of the bulbs was out I asked Carl if he can change the bulb that was out. I was very displeased to learn that I paid 120.00 for what I thought would be 10.00 bulb charge. He then stated that they could not figure out what bulb it was and had to diagnose over an hour of labor which is outrageous. For this I would never go back. Not even the dealership would charge such an astronomical fee. He should have at the very least called and got my authorization first. He knew I was not happy and as a single mom could not really afford that extra expense. He never offered to refund or anything. Poor customer service. read more

Horrible we brought our 1981 Datsun 280zx the interior is in perfect condition just no carpet I talked to the owner a couple times about the car and he said he would work on it towed all the way there he opened the door looked at for two second and turned us down. He knew everything done to the car because me and my boyfriend did all the work. His excuse for turning us down was he didn't know what was done and that the interior was bad. They claim to be Z specialists but there not there fakes and the owner is super rude don't take your car here ever. read more

So happy that my neighbor recommended Carl to me. My engine in my 06 Honda CRV was ticking. It sounded like it needed a valve adjustment. I always got my car serviced at the dealer where I purchased it, so I took it in. They had done a valve adjustment recently. They said that the engine needed some amount of rebuild which would most likely be around $2500. I didn't trust them on this. Granted my car had 260,000 miles on it but I maintain it meticulously. Fortunately in describing this to my neighbor, he said that Carl was a very trustworthy mechanic and could verify whether I truly did need a rebuild. When I took my car to Carl, he determined that it in fact did just need a valve adjustment. Apparently the valve adjustment had not been done correctly at the dealership and they were trying to rip me off. So Carl did the valve adjustment and my car ran so quietly and had more power. I have had Carl do transmission fluid, differential fluid, and oil changes; rotate tires, new air filter, new alternator and new starter. The work is done very professionally, quickly and at a fair price. Carl and his mechanics take the time to analyze and pinpoint the problem. They thoroughly check my vehicle each time which I really appreciate because I drive at least 3000 miles per month, at distances not close to home. I definitely don't want to break down. When I first went to Carl, I had recently purchased new tires from the dealership and he noticed that the tires were mounted with the side that read "this side in" facing outward. So he recommended a tire shop across the street to remount them properly and balance them. He took them over there and got that all taken care of for me for a very reasonable cost. I am very happy to have found this place. I have 275,000 miles now and need to get another 100,000 out of this car. I have confidence that Carl can do that for me without ripping me off. Carl has worked on my daughter's Honda Civic for several years and done outstanding and affordable work. Recently, my Kia Sedona started making what I thought were transmission noises. Carl diagnosed the problem as a broken muffler bracket and loose heat shield. He told me that he was unable to fix the problem himself without having to replace the entire muffler assembly for $440. He suggested I contact Ruben at Awesome Performance Exhaust to see if he could do something more affordable. The repair ended up costing only $45. Carl could have easily taken me to the proverbial cleaners. He did not. Instead he was honest and even referred out the work to a colleague.
