Very expensive repair work. $$$$$$$ Was recommended by another shop who were unable to do repairs as the work was beyond their scope of expertise. I decided to have the repairs completed locally as opposed to taking the Benz to my regular mechanic in Newton, Massachusetts. Brought the car in for one repair estimate. There were recommendations for about 8 other needed/suggested repairs. Easily could have gone into a $10k repair bill. However, I opted out on a couple items which brought the repair bill to just under $5k. Nice enough employees, however it did take a week for the repairs to be completed. Totally understand that foreign cars are much more expensive to repair than domestic models. The positive side is that the repair work is guaranteed for 24 months with authentic parts specifically related to the automobile they are performing the repairs on. They use Benz parts for Benz repairs, BMW parts for BMW repairs, etc. read more

I brought in my car for a transmission issue that had been bothering me for weeks. Mike quickly diagnosed the problem, explained everything in detail, and fixed it promptly. The best part? It genuinely feels like I'm working with a family friend - Mike keeps your best interests in mind and is clear when offering solutions. Unfortunately, being a female means that most auto places will try to rob you. I'll bring my car in for a tune up and they always find that something wrong that if not fixed immediately can result in nightmarish consequences, and the gullible me would fork over the money. That is, until I found this place. John and his crew are not only competent in diagnosing the problem, they are also very honest. They will tell me when I can save money with an aftermarket part or better spend the extra for original. A few times they told me that the problematic part was still under warranty, so they got the replacement for free from the dealer and gave me a small bill for the labor. Honestly, if they have gotten the free part and still charge me for it, I would have no clue. But they didn't and that speaks volume for their integrity. They also have the works done in a reasonable time, or they will tell me, bring your car in on this day and you have it back that afternoon, and are very good to their words. Took our cars there for years with the previous owner. Initially took in for an oil leak, issues with struts and ABS module. My husband diagnosed the issue before they could, and I searched for the abs module and bought it and brought one in when they couldn't find it. Disclaimer this was when current owner just bought the place so it's been a few years..so why now? Well, the oil leak issue was never resolved, and by now I had found a new mechanic as I wasn't thrilled with this new owner. Turns out nothing that was supposed to have been done when taking out the valve gasket was done. I still had the receipt and list of things that should have have been fixed for $1,600 plus. And they were not. I would never take the valve cover gasket off to verify the work had been done-I just know the leak never went away and I didn't want to keep going back. I used to bring all my Japanese cars to Import Autoworks back when John was the owner. It has since changed ownership and I called to get a quote on a starter for a HYUNDAI. Spoke to Andres and he gave me a couple of options. Had the vehicle towed on a Saturday and within two hours it was ready. The cost was fair and the prompt service was on point. We have been going to this place for years since before the current owner bought it. Went to him because car was running hot. Was told radiator fans would cost $140 each plus labor, found them on rock auto for $63 each. Even autozone charges less for the parts than he did. Not only that, he charges $48 for a diagnoses which, with the previous owner would have been cheaper or free, but didn't disclose his exorbitant prices. My family has been bringing our cars here for almost five years, and we've been very happy with their work. John, the owner, is very honest and will never do work you don't need. Dave also works on the cars and is very good. They're great about doing the work right away and giving a reasonable timeline of when it will be done. They'll tell you when to bring it as opposed to some places that have you bring the car in and wait a day or two before even beginning work. Prices are reasonable. This business is so reliable that I will be taking my car there when I visit Miami next week even though I live in Tampa.

After requesting an estimate before work being done to my vehicle, and the owner agreeing and communicating he understood, the work was performed to my vehicle without an estimate or authorization. I didn't make a big deal of it because mistakes happen, but when I started the car before leaving the shop, it was now leaking coolant and making a new strange knocking sound. The owner apologized and asked to hold the vehicle one more day to fix these new issues, and I asked him to please communicate with me if there would be any new charges if something else is wrong. I never received a call, and the next day I pass by the shop and the owner tells me the car is ready... ? The owner took it upon himself to repair again without consent. After I politely asked the owner to speak outside (our of respect for him in front of his employees), and I softly brought up my concerns, the owner begins to badger me with insults and demand that I pay, leave his shop after paying, and never bring the vehicle back. He then begins to insult me to his employees. Totally unacceptable behavior for a business owner. I am in disbelief. read more

My first impulse was not to post a review because I just didn't want anyone to know about my new favorite mechanic. I have lived in Miami for over 30 years and I have never dealt with such a professional group. I have a 2005 Lexus SC and recently needed a new radiator. They were able to find the original Denso for a great price and not only did they do a good job installing it. They made sure I had the right coolant for my vehicle and even cleaned up the mess from the horrible leak I had. It was like a bad murder scene from a horror film, except instead of blood, there was coolant everywhere. In all my years going to mechanics, I was pleasantly surprised to find my engine cleaner than when I brought it to them. Thumbs up to John, the owner, for having such a great staff and to Chris, the shop manager, who takes his time explaining what you need. I only wish more mechanic shops were as professional as this hidden gem. One of my major pet peeves has always been having to clean and wipe grease or dirt from inside the car after taking it to a mechanic. Needless to say, I did not have to do after taking it here and that speaks volumes! My only regret is that I could not give this shop more than five stars. read more

It just never crossed my mind to do so. To sum it all up, 5-star. If there were more, I would have rated it even higher. John and his staff are the most honest people you can find. They never do anything is not necessary and never over charge you. They just tell it like it is and do the job diligently. I have been going to John for over 15 years, very honest hard working man. He will tell you how it is , and he has never taken advantage of me or tried to rip me off, over charge etc. He does great work, and when he repairs your car, the repair will actually last for years. I took my car to auto zone one time to get my brake pads replaced, and they INSISTED that I had to replace one of my rotors, that's when I declined, took it to John so he can do a thorough check... and he ended up being able to save my rotor so I didn't have to spend the extra money at autozone( that place is trash as far as I'm concerned ). Similar thing happened at my car dealer. I took it in for an oil change ( which I had free because of some coupons I got online ) and they said I had something wrong with my oil valve and a couple other things and that I NEEDED to get it replaced. I declined those services, took it johns he inspected my car and told me that nothing was wrong with it!! The dealer of course was trying to rip me off. This is the best place to take your car, if you want someone honest & that won't take advantage of you. You will not be disappointed. Amazing service, the best in Miami. I can't tell you how much money I have saved since coming to Import Autoworks. I first arrived in 2010 when I needed to look for a good local mechanic. Living in East Kendall at the time, the drive to my other mechanic in North Miami was too much! I found out about this place after talking with Ken from Alignment Factory. He told me about these guys as they are next door to each other, literally, side-by-side. Of course whenever I go to a new mechanic I get nervous and suspicious. (John, the owner, teased and remembered the face I made, lol). Eventually as time went on I trusted this shop and my fears went away lol! Over the course of taking my car to the shop, I've only had to take it in for major repairs at least once or twice a year. His prices are reasonable. Cheaper then the previous place I've been going to before him. He's also been using the same mechanics for years! Example: I had an issue with my steering where I turn the wheel you can hear this loud noise like something needed to be lubricated. Or my power steering fluid was low. I took it to a shop in the Aventura area to have it look at it and there was an issue with my steering column. I can't remember the details of it but basically it was going to be like $600-$800 job! They added power steering fluid and I haven't had a problem since. But they did remind me that I needed to get it repaired ASAP. So a month or two after that, I was in the area so I decided to stop by John for an oil change. I told him what happened with the steering. He checked it and did see slight leakage but not to the point of getting an emergency repair. And nothing will happen when I drive. I told him the price and he said it was about right. All in all I miss going to this guy but if I need a major repair I will have to go to someone local (which I found). But if I needed a second opinion I can always call him if in doubt. Or if I'm in the area and I need an oil change I can always swing by him. In conclusion I can surely say I can happily recommend this shop to anybody living around the area. read more
