This lack of vetting was catastrophic. She failed to monitor the VA spot-approval and stood by while her referral executed a predatory bait-and-switch--moving us from a 5.9% VA loan to a 6.5% Conventional loan just 72 hours before closing. She clearly believed my family crisis made me desperate enough to fall for anything. Upon first meeting her, the priority was locking me into a 3-month contract and pressuring me in front of seller agents to eliminate my room for negotiation. When we finally found my dream condo, her 'experiment' created a $15,000 funding gap at the final hour and cost us the home during my family's most difficult time. As a professional psychologist, I recognized her warm persona was a mask for a complete lack of competence and a failure to act as a fiduciary. In my experience, employees are underpaid, managers are heavily micromanaged, and employees often do not feel that they have a fair opportunity to speak up for themselves when problems arise. I personally felt that Mr. Kolar's treatment of employees could be intimidating and harassing at times. I also witnessed situations where vendors were disrespectful toward property managers, yet I did not feel management adequately supported the managers. I was also very disappointed with how HR handled employee concerns. In my experience, Reina was not fair or consistent when dealing with issues that arose within the corporate office. I felt there was favoritism, an "inner circle," and an environment where certain people were treated differently depending on their relationships within the company. There were also situations involving vendors that raised serious concerns for me. Based on what I personally observed or was made aware of during my employment, I had concerns about whether certain supervisors had relationships or arrangements with particular vendors that could influence which vendors continued receiving work. I believe these types of concerns should be independently investigated rather than ignored. I also had concerns about inconsistencies and discrepancies in certain contracts and business practices that I encountered while working there. Overall, I felt the environment was controlling, intimidating, and unfair to many employees. Employees should be able to report concerns, question questionable practices, and advocate for themselves without feeling threatened or worried about retaliation. I am surprised that some of these issues have been allowed to continue for as long as they have. Anyone considering working for L'Abri Management should do their research, read employee reviews, ask questions about the company's culture and management practices, and make their own informed decision.
