Our designer Paul had several good ideas and he was able to provide additional thought and assistance during the actual construction phase which we very much appreciated. The style we were looking for was mid century modern with a bit of a modern twist. It turned out really good.

I've worked closely with Paul over the past year to help me with the design of an extensive home…read moreremodel, which included all 3 bathrooms, repainting of the whole interior, all new light fixtures/electrical design, new flooring, replacing our stairwell/banister, etc. Paul designed our primary bathroom, providing us with a few creative options on how to redesign the space. He also was critical in giving us advice on light fixtures, paint colors, bathroom fixtures, flooring options/colors---basically, he was heavily involved in every aspect of our remodel project. The thing I love about Paul is that he took the time to really understand my design preferences and then he provided design guidance to align with those preferences. With this remodel, he was able to bring our house forward from the original 1980s build/design to a much more streamlined, mid-century modern look and feel. I absolutely love how our home looks now. And we're currently working with Paul to redesign our kitchen, which I know will also turn out amazing. The last thing I'll say about Paul is that he's a pleasure to work with. He's responsive to my requests, he appropriately pushes back on my ideas when they don't align with my overall design scheme, and he's incredibly knowledgeable, pragmatic, and professional. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Knight Construction Design is a wonderful company to work with. We had the pleasure of working with…read moreKnight when we decided to remodel our kitchen. We were at a crossroads and not sure if we should move or remodel. Our family loved our house and location and thanks to Gary and Kelley at Knight Construction we were able to stay. First we had to get a plan, and they were very helpful with ideas of what would and wouldn't work with our home. Who knew a kitchen could transform the entire feeling of a house. We could not be happier with the results. The staff was so friendly and nice to work and they did such a beautiful job. Attention to detail and quality is something that is hard to come by these days and it was very refreshing to work with such a dedicated company who stands behind their word. Thank you Kelley and Gary for a job well done! Sincerely, The Bjork family

We hired Knight Construction this past summer to complete a total kitchen remodel project with…read morecustom cabinets, new hardwood fooring and the resurfacing an old brick fireplace with stone. We asked Knight if they could complete the work in just six short weeks as my family (my husband and three kids under the age of five) were moving into a small apartment for three months due to timing differences in our close dates. They accommodated the request with the caveat that the bulk of the work would be completed by move in and that finishing/warranty work may need to extend another week or two. Upon signing the contract, we immediately began working with Kristin, the designer, to ensure fixtures, flooring and other items were selected and available upon closing on the new home. The day after signing the close papers, the dumpster was delivered and Jeff our project manager began demolition with his crew. I won't tell you that the project was seemless in every instance and without a couple of minor glitches. But I can tell you that in ever instance, Gary and team worked with us immediately to either remedy the issue or help us find the best solution to accommodate our budget concerns and ensure our move in date wasn't jeopardized. Over the past 10 years, we have remodeled two homes and built a third. I have used three different Companies for each of these projects and I would without question hire Knight Construction back to do another project. Over the short few months we worked with Gary and his team, he always kept his word and remedied situations that weren't up to either his quality or ours, which were minimal. I appreicated the fact that three months after the project, I'm still able to call and ask him to look at something I think got missed in the warranty period. In both circumstances he's sent someone over within days to address my concern. I would recommend him to anyone. His work is quality and it's beautiful!

We paid just over $21,000 to Kona Cabinetry for a kitchen project that began January 15, 2026. We…read morewere told the installation would take approximately three days. Instead, the project stretched nearly four months, with major pieces not installed until May 12 and additional finishing concerns remaining after that. Our experience included refrigerator panels that had not initially been ordered, insufficient material, missing and incorrect cabinet doors, doors modified inside our home, repeated hood replacements, shipping delays, missed dates, missing trim and finishing pieces, and a replacement hood that still did not properly match the surrounding cabinetry. The hood alone took four or five attempts to arrive with the correct stain and without water spots or damage. The hood and most of the cabinetry came from KCD. KCD and Kona's owner both confirmed that KCD reimbursed Kona in connection with the hood issue, although we do not know the amount Kona received. Near the end of the project, Kona's owner came to our home, delivered a $2,500 refund tied to the hood, expressed empathy and promised a quick resolution. In our view, returning the amount paid for a hood Kona could not successfully deliver did not represent meaningful financial accountability for the months of delays, ordering errors, field modifications, communication failures and remaining workmanship or finish concerns. Throughout the project, my wife and I repeatedly had to initiate communication, document open items, request dates and follow up when those dates passed. Even after Kona's owner became our primary point of contact, multiple calls were not returned. When we met with Kona's owner, he acknowledged that some cabinet details should not have looked the way they did. However, much of the broader experience was attributed to manufacturers, freight issues, outdated catalogs, discontinued products, a former employee and "normal remodeling complications." We hired and paid Kona - not its manufacturers, carriers or former employees. We expected Kona to manage those relationships and remain accountable for the final product. We finally lost confidence when Kona came out for what was supposed to be the final visit and once again did not have everything needed to finish the project. Additional pieces were still missing, and the hood still did not match after the trim was installed. Accepting more replacement products and more corrective visits no longer felt like a realistic path to the result we had paid for. We then attempted to resolve the experience privately. Kona responded with a settlement agreement requiring us to immediately release all claims involving the project, including warranty and workmanship issues. It also prohibited any reviews, complaints and public statements. Kona's payment would come later, and if Kona failed to pay, all we could pursue is the settlement amount, and our underlying claims would still remain permanently released. We declined because we were not willing to immediately give up every right and then once again trust Kona to perform later. No renovation is perfect, but this went far beyond normal remodeling complications. The most disappointing part was Kona's continued reluctance to take meaningful ownership of the overall experience and final result. Based on our experience, we would not recommend Kona Cabinetry.

Like most people embarking on a home improvement or remodel project, we had done extensive research…read moreonline about what we wanted from our new kitchen; looks, function, and an enduring design. There are so many talented people out there that do kitchen remodeling, choosing one firm to turn your dream into reality can be overwhelming. After researching the Better Business Bureau, Angie's List and Houzz; we knew we could narrow the field considerably. Having been a Realtor and sold luxury real estate in Seattle, Palm Springs and San Diego, I knew the value in hiring a talented construction firm before making a single purchase. I have seen too many horrible remodels, or ones that came close but miss the mark. I have also experienced enough stellar designs, ones that make you fall in love with the home, and kitchens and baths that stand out, but still speak to and respect the character of the house they "live" in. All of these homes have two things in common, great design and a great construction firm. Northrup Remodeling is just such a firm. Our decision to hire Northrup Remodeling to build our new kitchen put us on the right path for a successful project. We interviewed several construction firms, but Northrup's experience, knowledge, and ability to translate our ideas into real life made them the clear choice. Mark the owner, and Bob our project manager, listened, took notes, and explained their process. They are skilled communicators, bring considerable experience, and a knack for managing details to their work. Our kitchen project had several challenges and they masterfully crafted lasting solutions to fit the character of our 1924 home. Our kitchen is now magazine cover beautiful, but above all else is now a pleasure to cook in. We unequivocally recommend Northrup Remodeling for a kitchen, bath or any construction project.

Promises of an exceptional work product, a quick turnover, and a 20k price tag over 30k? Yes please! Oh wait, you're not licensed to perform the work? You're not insured? That's right, we unknowingly and carelessly hired a contractor that's not licensed or insured. Tom assured us that the project would take 2 weeks (as did the other contractors), however because he only sent one sub-par employee each day, it ended up taking 6 weeks. My 18 month old had to spend many of those winter days cooped up in the upstairs master bedroom. Tom wowed us with rhetoric of his personal craftsmanship only to find that he did maybe 5% of the work himself. The amount of flaws in the work his employee performed are astronomical and Tom didn't look over anything to ensure that it was done correctly. For example: we can't open the 2 new windows in our kitchen because they were installed incorrectly. Something we discovered once summer started. Multiple attempts to have him remedy the window problem as well as other issues have gone unanswered because by then he'd already received full payment for the project. Don't make the same mistake we did and find yourself a reputable contractor that's licensed to do the job.
