Again, Chris was wonderful, super thorough in explaining the process, and finding the right spot to mark her ears. He was kind, patient with our little one and just very cool. Would definitely go back time and time again :)

I didn't make an appt in advance - in case I changed my mind - but got there as they opened on Sunday morning. I was met by the check in team and went through some of questions while we waited for the piercing expert for the day - Avery - to arrive. Avery came in and spent a lot of time with me talking through all my questions and helping guide my final decisions. It's been a decade since my last piercing (and that one didn't go well, ending with my jewelry getting absorbed and a visit to an ENT doc to get it removed. Ouch indeed) and another decade and a half before that one so while I've been through it, time makes memories fuzzy. In any case, Avery really took the time to help me feel good about my decisions. Popped into the chair and everything was done within another 20-30 minutes. The prices for the piercing and jewelry felt extremely fair so $200 for three piercings, two new pieces of jewelry, another jewelry change for the tragus I've had since I was 19 and some saline spray and I was on my way. So far, so good. If you're going to go through the effort, you have to commit to the aftercare and luckily I'm good once I get a rhythm going. I'm going to wait for these to all heal completely - and for after some travel I have planned in the spring - and then I'll probably go back for some more goodies. Looking forward to having Avery to help me again! Thanks so much Atomic for bringing me back to the world of holey ears :)

TLDR: GET YOUR TATTOOS FROM KAYLEE SHE IS INSANELY TALENTED AND PROFESSIONAL…read more Where do I even begin? Finding an artist you click with, who has a style you love, that you can put all of your trust in is such a difficult task. As someone who has accumulated quite a few tattoos from different artists, I can honestly say I never felt that I had found "the one" - the artist I knew I could stick with through all of my future ideas - the artist I would truly and quite literally let draw whatever creations they saw in their head on my body - until I met Kaylee. I have plenty of visible tattoos but the one I went to Kaylee for was going to be my most visible, most important piece yet - an ear tattoo. Having a tattoo basically on your face is a big deal, you know? I had no doubt in my mind that Kaylee could come up with something beautiful that would fit my anatomy perfectly, and I was SO right. Kaylee designed the piece right on my ear, making sure it looked as if it was always meant to be there. The attention to detail and the care that went into cutting out each piece of the stencil to make sure it laid on my ear correctly was nuts. Kaylee is a perfectionist and that is what you WANT when you are getting something permanently altered. The process of getting the tattoo itself was SO comfortable - I was actually shocked. I expected some pain, and obvious discomfort, but Kaylee's light-hand and immaculate natural talent made for one of my most comfortable sessions yet with no pain. Aside from having the most stellar ear tattoo now and a whole new level of confidence, I know I have found my artist for life and that is such an amazing feeling. Go see the queen, have a f*cking blast talking about anything and everything with her while she puts her incredible art on your body. Trust me, it'll change your life. (PS. NO I did NOT know her before getting this piece, I found her work on IG and fell in love with it - so I will sing her praises until my last breath. She is WORTH IT!)

FIRST EXPERIENCE: I had my first tattoo done at Chicago Tattoo Co during Covid. The artist did an…read moreamazing job, it's beautiful, I practically fell asleep during the appointment, the lines were clean and the steadiness of their hand was impressive. No blow outs or anything. They made sure I was happy with the size and placement. Wonderful experience. Unfortunately, that artist seems to have since left their business. MOST RECENT EXPERIENCE: The second interaction I had at Chicago Tattoo Co was with Tim. I recently lost my dog who was a huge part of my life for 14 years. I was looking to get a piece done of her that looked "faded" as if she were just beyond the veil. I brought an awful sketch with me that I did in about 30 seconds in my car before going in. I can't draw, but I wasn't trying to create something good anyways. Just something to express the "faded" idea I had in my head, since I couldn't explain it with words. Instead of trying to understand what I meant, Tim's first reaction was to judge the drawing. He said things like "I'm trying to be nice" and "no one will know what this is" "it could be a pig"... Once we got past the -its just an example- conversation, he moved on to the size and details of the piece. He said "good" tattoos have to be a certain size and I needed to go bigger. I was not willing to go bigger. By the end of the conversation, he had insulted my quick sketch, my idea, and many people who have tattoos currently that don't live up to his standards. I felt bad for those who have tattoos they love that he crapped all over. He literally called them "shitty tattoos". RECOMMENDATION: I cannot recommend Tim for literally anyone, despite his obvious talent and skill. A man that only appreciates the work he'd do himself is not an artist I'd want tattooing me, because they're likely to have trouble listening. However, Chicago Tattoo is a hub of very talented individuals in general, and its a clean environment. I have attached an image of the sketch I brought in and another sketch that took me about 8 minutes. The second is closer to what we discussed in person, but I can't imagine the first is SO bad that he really couldn't understand what I meant through conversation...it was just a visual aid anyways.. Side Note: Wether someone else likes or recognizes what your tattoo is shouldn't matter. It's what the art piece represents to the person getting it done. Get whatever you want. :)

Went back at 9pm and they told us that they signed over 100 people in and they only got through 10 tattoos so far! They were closing and would be calling over the weekend for us to come in! We waited all day to be told we couldn't get tattoos until the weekend. If we knew they wouldn't have been able to tattoo us we would have gone else where as Friday the 13th has tattoo deals everywhere. Well then they started posting their photos from the flash event. This is the quality of the tattoos they were doing. It looks like they didn't even use a stencil! No one in my group wanted to go anymore if we got called in. I messaged Buddha blue on Instagram telling them that was a really bad tattoo and was blocked! Yikes! Truth hurts, they got in way over their heads by knowingly signing up 100+ tattoos to be done and then screwed everyone over by only being able to do 10... and couldn't even do the tattoos right.

And he will still charge you by the hour during those breaks. Giving small talk and keeping an eye on the time (setting a timer) will benefit you while getting tattooed. He also is very heavy handed with shading! After two sessions, I decided to go elsewhere. Unfortunately, the over confidence that he displayed wasn't showing up. Budget also goes out the window even though he asks in the beginning. I told him I didn't want to go over 1000$ but surely that's what happened. He could've told me the truth and say it'll cost more but instead stated that it could be done via instagram. I took his word and went to the shop to put down a deposit. In the end, I never went back to finish the work and left him with my deposit since he wasn't charging fairly. He has a pissy attitude (not too friendly once you become a client) to top it off and the environment can be unprofessional. He also body shames women! Very uncomfortable trying to get a tattoo from someone who body shames you. Very misogynistic! I would never recommend this shop or artist to anyone nor will I be returning.
