Upscale Chinese buffett that is clean and most of the food is above average. My favorites are the Hot and Sour soup, peanut chicken, pepper steak, and for dinner they have crab legs and prime rib. Prices are 9 bucks for lunch buffet and 14 for dinner higher than some but good deal for the quality. Sushi is usually fresh and they have a mongolian bba area. Wait staff is usually prompt as well refilling drinks and taking dishes. One area that is always subpar seems to be their fruit the cantelope, pineapple, and musk melon are rarely ripe and hard. Disappointing as those are my favorite dessert items vs the sugar filled cakes and pastries. We keep coming back for the good stuff here. read more

Imperial is a tasty American Chinese buffet. Obviously Illinois is not like New York or China, so keep that in mind. The crowd seemed to navigate towards coconut shrimp, crab legs, and the build your own Mongolian BBQ. Imperial offered a lot of seafood selections and constantly replenished the buffet. I'm not sure if they use MSG so if you're sensitive to it, it's best to ask. Imperial has a cool sushi bar, too. The highlight for me was the dessert options, I had a plate filled with fresh fruit. First time going to this buffet, and compared to other buffets I have been to, I would say that this one is your typical buffet place. I came for dinner and I do like that there are labels that tell you the name of the food. It is also pretty clean here, as well as the bathrooms. Our waiter was attentive also. Their selection isn't as big, and I wish they would take out fresh food more frequently I am also a big sushi eater, and their sushi was just alright. Again, selection isn't big at all, and considering that it is a buffet, don't expect top- notch sushi. Totally lit. I'm having withdrawals from this place and I need more! I had heard from friends about Imperial Buffet before, but I recently had my first visit (and definitely not my last). I went on a Friday night, it was packed, but service and refilling of the buffet stations were not lacking. The food is solid all around. I very much enjoyed their fried shrimp (a guilty pleasure snack) and their crawfish the most. The sushi was popular, but I didn't dive in that night. Their fried catfish leaves a little to be desired, but that's one fault among many positives. The fruit selection and deserts are amazing for a buffet. Don't skip on the cake or fresh fruit! Well the end of another Chinese buffet in blo/no. They have discontinued snow crab legs on the buffet. Went at 7:15 and there was about 1/4 of a prime rib. I had one piece and it was gone. Was told they make 2 for the night and that was all they had. The ribs were cold along with the catfish. They made me fresh catfish but left the cold ones on the buffet. It was so bad that they ran out of sweet and sour sauce. So my last goto there was the strawberries and bananas. Yes sounds different but is really my favorite of all the deserts. Nope don't have that anymore either or just fresh strawberries. I am not a big fan of their Chinese food, I only go on weekends for the prime rib and catfish. My wife goes for crab legs. With mediocre Chinese food that is mostly soggy or cold, I would find a cheaper option. Ming's was very good until they did the same. No crab legs then food was not as good then out of business. Sorry Imperial. This was my last visit. Hope the new place that takes over in a year or so does a better job, I think the owners have given up, even the fish ponds have garbage in them and weeds. read more

This was one of the best buffets I have ever been to and I have been to many including Vegas! They had a great sushi bar with sashimi and seaweed salad. The buffet had many different delicious choices from duck, oysters on the half shell, crab legs, frog legs, beef brisket to a huge salad bar and a mongolian grill where it is cooked fresh to order. We found this place by mistake coming home to Michigan. I have now set it as a favorite destination in my Garmin and will stop again on the way through to enjoy this wonderful bufffet again!!! read more

We switched to the Imperial after getting lousy service at Mings for a second time. We love the Imperial. The taste variety, and ambiance is far better than Mings. We have never had a bad experience there. And the place is almost always packed. They also have a mongolian grill with steaks as part of the buffet. Very impressed. I have been a big Ming's promoter, but from now on I will suggest Imperial for Chinese buffets. Much bigger than it looks from the outside. Like some others who have posted before me, this place used to be amazing when they first opened. Sadly, the last few times I've gone with my family (last night included), Imperial has been an utter disappointment. We went for dinner around 6:30pm and noticed that the quality of the food was poor at best. Salad was wilty, the General Tso's chicken tasted more like General Tso's pigeon! To be more accurate, it tasted like it was re-fried as the texture was very hard and chewy and cold. Speaking of cold, a number of the items tasted like they had been sitting out a while. No prime rib or brisket out either. Service was also very subpar. They had one person working the entire dining room and he hardly ever came around to collect plates or drink refills. We had to put our used plates at another unoccupied table for him to get the hint and still didn't come around. I would be willing to give Imperial another try, but its going to be awhile and there has to be some solid proof of improvement (fuure yelp reviews perhaps) to convince me to come back! Sorry guys. This buffet has huge selection of food. Seafood, Biscuit, rolls, Chinese fried rice. It has a Mongolian grill, a huge dessert isle and Ice cream. for 8 dollars you will find something you like. Did I mention Sushi and some authentic looking Asian food that might scare you(what the hell is that!!). Good place with a good vibe. Service is good and fast. read more

I was in town visiting my girlfriend for Easter and we had forgotten to make brunch plans. I really wanted a traditional American Easter buffet but am not familiar with the area. Of course most places (country clubs) were booked already and many diners where she lived were closed. After doing some research, we found this gem. The buffet includes traditional American food that was perfect for Easter (Ham, Prime Rib) and much more. All of the food from Asian to American was absolutely amazing. We got shown to a table next to like 14 bratty little rugrats and asked to be moved. The hostess made no attempt to hide her distaste for our request, but showed us to another table after several eye rolls and a 15 minute sigh. The food was good, nothing outstanding, huge selection. The salad bar portion could use some work; your options are 3 different types of greens, cucumbers and a selection of fatty dressings so if you're looking to stay away from the calories you'll be severely disappointed. This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in town. A lot of options for the buffet, and it even includes fresh crab legs, oysters, rib eyes, etc. during dinner time. The servers work so hard to make sure that you're staying comfortable in the restaurant, and the cashiers are very friendly, polite, and efficient - they never let customers in line wait for too long. Good hot and sour soup with great flavor. Two different types of fried rice, amazing sesame chicken, super sweet and tangy. Buffet has almost everything you could want on a Chinese buffet, even a few things you wouldn't expect. Sushi is ok, about as good as you can get for an all you can eat sushi section. Has a pretty good Mongolian array as well. LOTS of deserts to choose from. Best Asian buffet I've ever been to! I'm not from the area; I was there on business. One of my colleagues suggested Chinese food, so we used yelp to find this place. The service was great right from the moment we walked thru the door. They have a hibachi grill so u can customize a plate. To my surprise, u can even season your own food before it hits the grill. The best Asian buffet I've ever been to. Sushi is great quality (the only thing I'd ask is to not put sesame seeds on it, because I'm allergic!). I love coming here to eat! Sushi is delicious for a buffet, and there's a variety of food. Only thing I don't like about this place (hence the 4 stars) is dessert. Its too dry, like its been sitting there for too long so now I just go straight to the ice cream or yummy fruits if I want something sweet. We have a group that comes here all the time and love it! They make the sushi fresh for you upon request and they have a great variety of food to choose from. I personally like the General Tso's Chicken and dumplings a lot. The service is consistently good and attentive and the owners are very nice! Damn this place will get you fat in a good way. My family and I love going to this place. It's like a wonderland. I always get 4ths and 5ths. Sweet and sour chicken is my favorite. And the dumplings with chow mein is to die for. Love me some Chinese food for sure. My kid and wife love this place as well and is one of the best places ever to eat.
