In the end, I decided to buy local and am I ever glad I did. I have bought a few things from Marie Tomas in their downtown location but this was my first time to their new location. I found just what I wanted and put my order in right away. It was on sale and even compared to an online purchase it was a pretty good price. When the sofa was delivered there was a couple of minor problems with the cushions. They came out to my home right away and immediately ordered new cushions for me. I am so pleased with the service and so glad that I didn't order online. Highly Recommend.

In previous visits I have noticed that prices remain a little steep compared to competitors (Michaels next door has similar drawing/artist pencils/Sharpies etc. and often run a 30% or 40% coupon off of one item - making it much cheaper than Michaels |you would think they would consider that | not to mention Amazon). Regarding ordering online, you would not believe how many times something standard will be available online or at another store in Calgary but this location is sold out. Lastly, the printing/fax shop - thank goodness their staff no longer deal with the shipping desk IE FedEx/Purolator) as well. It often cause massive lines.

She was attentive and all ears as I told her our beautiful Canadel table was still not closing properly. She gave me Ron the Warehouse Managers direct number which I called the next day. Jee had to come back with another young man, so this was a two day adventure BTW. Thank you so much for taking such good care of us! As new owners, I feared you'd tell me sorry, but no, you did not. This table was bought Nov. 2019, and the previous owners sent someone out May 2022, leaving replacement rails in case what he did didn't fix it. Now hopefully it has been rectified properly. Having told her I was working on my first big project and that I was still figuring things out, she was impatient and it felt like she took advantage of the situation. Long story short, she ordered items before I confirmed, as I specifically asked for a quote first, and pressured me into buying them. I had emailed her asking specifically for quotes if I were to purchase X items, and she responded saying she had ordered a bunch of the items and told me the price in the same email. I was shocked by the price and could not afford the full amount I was looking for and initially felt bad, telling her Id take them off her hands since she'd already ordered them, even though I no longer even needed those items, but did not realize how expensive it was and that I just couldn't afford it. When I went in, she said it wasn't her problem and that she had ordered them just for me, and felt that I had led her on... all I had done was discussed the project with her and asked for quotes, and I had been transparent about not being sure about some things being my first project of this scale, but she went ahead and ordered BEFORE giving me the price, there is no obligation on my end to purchase at the end of the day. I could have not shown up at all that day but I am someone who keeps their word. She ended up giving me 10% off, which was literally just one of the 10 items free (I spent close to $1k there, you're welcome, on items that are literally $45 less at Michaels, and I will never be back).
