Dr. Smith is for sure the best chiropractor in town. He has been my chiropractor since my pregnancy in 2014. My husband and I are pretty active and try to see him weekly. When I miss a few weeks because of work and life, i can really see the difference: I don't sleep as well, I have a harder time adjusting after carrying my daughter, and I'm more sore after my gym workouts. My lower back gets thrown out every so often because my legs have a one inch difference in length. I see Dr Ryan Smith about 4 times a year. He adjusts my back and within 2 visits I'm feeling 100% again. His office is new, with all new equipment. His staff is helpful and professional and very accommodating. Started seeing Dr Smith about a month ago for a lower back sciatica problem I'd been having. I purchased a package of (4) in total and just got through my 4th session. I am both grateful and lucky that Dr. Ryan Smith is my chiropractic specialist in Long Beach. Over three years ago, I limped into his office with disc herniations, disc bulges, bone spurs, sciatica, multiple pinched nerves, whiplash injury, neck pain, numb fingers, back pain, a dislocated femur, and neuropathy. Major medical insurance companies sent me to pain management, and I still felt intolerable pain. Every movement felt like an emergency. My eyeballs were bulging because of the extreme pressure in my neck and my level of pain. Some other doctors told me that I have degenerative disc disease, it is a progressive condition, and that only gets worse. If I decided on surgery (in three separate parts of my spine) the chances of success are only 50% per surgery and the other 50% of patients per surgery have worsening pain and less function. The pain management consisted of multiple nerve blocks, epidural shots, gabapentin that made me feel loopy, lidocaine patches, and shots. My mental clarity was out the window when I first came to see Dr. Smith. He offered holistic chiropractic care and stressed natural approaches in dealing with my injuries. I could not imagine a better chiropractic neurologist. He formulated a rehabilitation treatment plan for me. We first focused on my neck injury because I had lost the natural 's' shape in my neck. I had scar tissue that restricted movement of my head. After three sessions a week for several weeks, it was noticeably different. As he treated my neck, he also adjusted the rest of my body during every appointment with great specificity. I was amazed that I was feeling relief from the migraines and headaches. Gradual relief from peripheral nerve damage began, and the feeling of stepping on glass or having a wet foot was diminishing. Blood flow was returning to my brain because he aligned my neck. I felt like he saved my life because he restored normal communication between my neural networks. I now have improved physical, cognitive, and emotional functions. My brain works again. Yippee! I still am gaining feeling from the neuropathy. He continues to customize my treatment plan for optimal restoration of my functional connectivity. My muscles have blood flow now because he has aligned my spine so that I do not have impinged nerves any longer. It has been a weekly process. Last week I began feeling parts of my leg again. It's odd because a person does not know a small portion of their own body is numb until feeling starts to return. I am incredibly lucky. No more limping, my femur does not pop out of place from my hip joint anymore, and my neck has a full range of proper motion. My center of balance feels like it returned last week and for the first time in 6 years, I enjoy gymnastics again. He is professional yet personable. It's great when he mentions his love for his beautiful wife, and he enjoys talking about his new baby boy and the big sister. If Dr. Smith was never highly recommended to me, I would still be dependent on pain pills, I would not be employed in academia, and would not be able to move without pain. I am amazed by his talent. I thank him all of the time, so he knows how grateful I am for his empowerment. I have created this review for people at the end of their rope in pain. Medication may provide needed relief directly after an injury, but it is crucial to move away from dependence on drugs and be proactive with your own health with Dr. Smith's knowledge and care. read more

Over a year ago my back gave out. I was in so much pain. I was literally on the floor. It felt like the bottom of my spine came unhinged from my tail bone. Great facility, clean and efficient. I have had lower back issues, and Dr. Smith was recommended to me from a friend. After taking the time to hear my issues, he made adjustments to my back and gave me some exercises to do to help keep it loose, with recommendations for the winter weather when the cold affects the back more.
