Was it neat? Yes, very cool experience! However, I would certainly say not worth the price point. I bought tickets when they were buy one get one free, but after taxes and fees it was still crazy expensive. Talking to others who checked out the exhibit, they have similar thoughts. It was something different to do but other than sitting in the warehouse and watching the images over and over there wasn't much else going on. Tons of memorabilia to buy, and they transformed the entire warehouse (indoor and outdoor) for this exhibit, which I'm sure was an expensive project.

We went to see this exhibit last night. While I enjoyed it, it is not for everyone and it is expensive. We were a little late for our time but walked in just before the end of a showing. There are benches and some chairs in many of the spots for viewing. We were able to get a bench after the showing ended. Some people just stood in the middle and some sat on the floor. There are cushions available and with an upgrade in entrance fee to flex you get a cushion and poster. We then stayed for a second viewing and moved to a different angle to get a longer view down one of the walls. The animation was very interesting, some very talented people put this together. The show is about 30 minutes and has some music to go with the animated art. The beginning is interesting and it seems to want you to know that Van Gogh had struggles within himself. I really enjoy the post-impressionism art and found the show interesting, but if you are a real art lover, the museum with the art is a better option.

I thought this exhibit was well worth my time and money. I got tickets for opening day and when it was delayed I was disappointed. They auto rescheduled my timed tickets for a day other than the new opening date but quickly resolved when I contacted them. On opening day everything ran smoothly. I was able to park nearby in an open lot manned for $10.00. I did notice later they offered valet parking but I was fine walking a short distance by parking myself. The event is held in a converted warehouse and I was extremely impressed with each and every staff member I encountered and there was a plethora of them from greeters outside to ticket takers to wayfinders to room monitors. I was always greeted with a smile, given directions and instructions without any of them feeling obtrusive to the experience. I even noticed one offering a couple chairs to help out. There also was a gift shop and a bar to purchase snacks and drink. The experience itself? 30 minutes of Van Gogh art morphing before you and all around you in a football field size rectangular space even on the floor and mirrored pillars in the middle of the room. Yes, you may find yourself sitting on a concrete floor unless you opted for the VIP treatment of cushions but I did see benches and chairs scattered here and there. I didn't mind the floor. You have a timed ticket for your start time but can stay as long as you like and I did stay for a repeat, the sequence seamlessly looping back again and then I was able to enjoy whatever I may have missed the first time. And all this morphing, not just still pics playing, was put to such great selections of music, some of which reminded me of the haunting soundtrack of the movie "Vanilla Sky", if you recall that one. I truly loved the experience. It reminded me of performance art, something that would be shown in Mass MOCA (Massachusetts museum of contemporary art) which houses huge rooms and sometimes has a room of just a looping video. Anywho, a gigantic room enveloping me with nothing but Van Gogh art? Epic. Took me to my happy place. Isn't that worthwhile?

I love art. So this exhibit was right up my alley. We went on a Tuesday, so the crowd was nice and light. They have security at the door and require masks to be worn at all times by every one, regardless of vaxx. The lobby had a few displays that were decorated very nicely. There was also a bar area serving drinks and gift shop. They had a VIP line and regular line for entry in the gallery, but since there wasn't a crowd, we walked right in. They had plenty of seating in the exhibit, both benches and chairs, but many people chose to sit on the socially distant circles on the floor. The show was about 30 minutes long. You can enter in the galley to catch the show when you are ready (within your time frame) and it ran on a loop so you can catch anything you missed if you entered mid-show. I loved the lights, the colors, the moving artwork, the music, and the whole experience. I had goosebumps watching some of the dramatic transitions and I enjoyed it very much. The biggest con was the parking situation. The lot was a bit far and we had to pay $10 to park. We were only there for about 40 minutes, so I think the fee was a bit steep. Still a great show!

Three stars because it was over priced. We parked a bit farther by the trail and had a nice walk to the exhibit. It was a very enjoyable experience, but I can't help but compare it to the movie Loving Vincent. This was definitely more experiential with the music and surround effect. The movie though supported a bunch of artists, had a narrative and a lot more depth. I suppose it's hard to put a price on art. There were a few photo spots outside the exhibit, and the staff was friendly enough to take pictures for us. Overall, I wouldn't recommend it.

Overall cool but not worth the money. The staff was very nice and helpful. It's just a video on constant loop that you sit on the floor. I wish it was more interactive or even played above. Don't pay the parking fee of $10 just park a block away and walk.

Main lobby when you first walk in. Love the display.

My friend and I are very into art, and have been to numerous museums in Pittsburgh and other cities. We especially love Van Gogh and were looking forward to this for months. After buying tickets in March 2021, having them rescheduled due to covid in September, and finally visiting in November, we were beyond ready. Especially after hearing good reviews of the show in other cities. Thankfully we opted for the cheapest thickets on a weekday afternoon, because as it turns out there are two different Van Gogh exhibits traveling the country and this was not the better one. Also relieved we didn't pay for parking or get the VIP tickets because I still can't tell you what the benefit of that was supposed to be. First of all I'll say the video was entertaining and we both largely enjoyed it. Having 360° video surrounding you with songs to match was nice. It even showed his work in order as it progressed throughout his career. After about 20 minutes it's repeats again as new people cycle into the exhibit. But that was it, really. We looked around the room expecting doorways into adjoining rooms with other videos or exhibits, nope. Just the video room and the lobby which had some pricy food items and a very overpriced gift shop that cost even more than the Carnegie gift shop. No displays, posters, boards, replicas of the artwork, nothing interactive or anything similar to what you'd find in an actual museum like we expected. If you knew nothing about the artist going in, you left knowing nothing having only pretty images flashed in front of you. It just felt like half an exhibit, like something that would have occupied just one room at the Van Gogh museum. My friend also loves Frida Kahlo, but expressed no interest in coming back to see that show when it began. Just go to the Carnegie or Smithsonian museums instead, you'll save money and learn more.

Look- it's very cool, don't get me wrong. I'm so glad I went! I actually really loved it, truth be told. But - wow - it was overpriced for what it was. The worst part was paying for parking and then walking past so many closer (and free) spots on my way in, haha! Thanks guys. But all that being said, it's a very cool experience. Beautiful work, and we really enjoyed it. I wish they limited the amount of people inside at one time though. I was able to walk right in, which was great- but I'd almost rather wait in line a bit if I meant I could have had a more secluded experience inside

I was overall happy with a night out in Pitt however I was not appreciative of the prices. My basic ticket was close to $50 and then I had to pay $12 to park. All to listen to a music with a scrolling art show. Which overall was fine but I guess I would have hoped for narration about the pieces. I considered buying a book at the gift shop but that was expensive too. Also if there is times entrances then I fee the show could have been times better to align with entry

I was visiting some friends in Pittsburgh and we went to this event. This is a really cool exhibit to see but the price is steep, in my opinion. A lot of the tickets are over $50 when it's one room that cycles through in 45 minutes or so. It's worth going to but I wish it had more for the cost.

Dizzying virtual mess of a presentation. Complete sensory overload without any chance to appreciate the original art.

There was a sign on the corner of Butler and 43rd indicating a cookie stop was down this street. Am I ever glad I followed the sign; otherwise, I would have remained on the main drag of Butler and never ventured into this lovely oasis. It's in an old house that is charming in itself. You make your way from room to room on the first floor. The day we were here, there were books in the front with the author present to sign them (gift number one), hand knit scarves next in line with the maker present (gifts number two and three), handmade earrings further back (gift number four), and artwork hung on the walls in the hallway. Everywhere I turned there were eye-catching handmade pieces. Definitely on my list to re-visit for those one-of-a kind locally made items.

You wont find this place unless you see their sandwich board situated on Butler Street. It's tucked away on 43rd Street and looks exactly like the rest of the houses on that block. Inside you'll find a variety of local art including paintings, pottery and jewelry. I'm not much of an art buyer and, while I really like their stuff, I simply can't afford it. However, their jewelry is priced low enough that my mom can indulge every once in a while. If you're into locally made, handcrafted art, it's definitely worth a look. The place is rather inconspicuous on the outside but on the inside it's a beautiful Victorian era house brimming with local art and behind the counter is a very nice lady that'll answer any questions you might have.

The galleries are located above the Wood Street Station Downtown where you'll access the gallery from the side of the station- you won't go inside as if you were heading to the T stop. The galleries are located on the above two floors so it's probably best to work your way from the 3rd floor down, but that's not what I did... The Gallery FYI is not open Monday. The exhibit we saw was Nonotak, which were a row of diamond-shaped lights hung from the ceiling which had lighting attached to it which seemed to move along to the sound playing from the speakers. It gave it a trippy feeling almost like a pumping heart. Also, it made for some really cool photographs. The other portion of the exhibit immersed you even more into the artwork You were able to step inside the piece of glass which felt like infinity lights covering you, giving you the feeling of what could only be described as "free falling". It was so cool to look around, but not down as it could easily freak you out if you aren't a fan of that kind of stuff. It was really cool to see the exhibits up close. What I loved is that the exhibits didn't take long to get through but they were both equally as fascinating. There were no crowds so we were able to take our time. The staff on each floor were super nice. And it was just a really cool day to spend an afternoon while exploring the city. Highly recommend checking out whatever exhibit is here while you're in town.
