When I mentioned that this amount of pain is not normal, they told me that they cannot look at it/possibly replace it because it would be a waste of materials. I would non be surprised if I was here for more than 12 hours, and I anticipate leaving the hospital way sicker than I was when I arrived (and I arrived with a concussion...) I would give this place 0 stars if I could.

Prof.Dr Peter Vajkoczy, medical director of neurosurgery, studied my previous MRT and then ordered a battery of tests - a new MRT, a CT and a device recording nerve responses to electrical impulses. Dr Vajkoczy's suspicion was confirmed. My pain was being caused by a pinched nerve in S1, a different segment than previously diagnosed. Prior to my minimally invasive operation I was given intensive care by a most capable staff. The operation itself was so successful that the excruciating pain had vanished as soon as I regained consciousness. I can only confirm that as far as I'm concerned the Charite's reputation as Germany's leading general hospital is wholly deserved. Leslie R.Colitt

This review only pertains to the nursing staff during the hospital stay NOT the hospital's doctors…read morecare. During the Christmas holiday in Berlin, mom had made a tumble and broke her knee cap. This required surgery, yet since the Germans take their holidays very seriously, this was only possible the week after the new year. The orthopedic pre surgery appointment with Dr. T.L. was most excellent as was the surgery and post follow up during the hospital stay by Dr. S.T. and his team of specialists. The downstairs personnel at the information desk also were most kind and helpful as was the physical therapy team. The one star is given because the one week hospital stay was a nightmare. Daytime nursing staff (led by a male nurse) were nothing short of evil. On purposely hurting you where you just had surgery, not bringing a towel as promised leaving the patient wet and cold in the bathroom and refusing to return to help the patient off the toilet. The total lack of respect by the male head nurse also manifested itself in shouting and speaking to the patient and their company in the utmost horrible manner. His staff clearly followed his ways of communicating and treatment . Additionally, there was absolutely no knowledge of the medicine that was presented to the patient. When asking about these meds in the office (orthopedic section (2nd fl)) for the patient, an assistant (young girl) started yelling, meanwhile spitting her crackers on me while waving her arms to go and ask someone else. This fascist male nurse and his day time staff are a disgrace to the profession of medicine and the representation of this hospital. The food was far beneath standard and the hygienic measures were questionable, which from personal experience can be more so comparable to that of developing nations.
