r. Asuncion has been my doctor for years. I have always found him willing to answer my questions and think in a strategic manner on my behalf. I am very drug sensitive and he understands this fact. I made a new patient appointment approximately 5 months ago for August 13th. I was called on July 23rd And told Dr. Asuncion was now on paternity leave and would not be able to see me. The person handling scheduling then made me a new appointment on July 31st with the covering provider. On the morning of the 31st I was called repeatedly from an unknown number until I picked up and was told I could no longer be seen that day. When I asked why my appointment was cancelled just a few hours prior I was told with no apology that the covering provider doesn't see new patients but I could make an appointment for September. After talking to someone else with scheduling I was told that unless there was an acute issue I would need to make a new appointment for next month. If I knew I was going to have to wait this long I would have made an appointment with another provider. I would not recommend working with this office. read more

Sometimes one bad review should be enough to deter me from using a Dr, but decided to try this one and I was sorry! He was rude and has bad bed manner. As soon as he walks in he started by telling me to be there early for my appointment, so I pointed out that I was there 30 min earlier in the reception than my appointment and waited 15 min for him in the room. I went in for an annual, but he asked a bunch of a questions then all is done, no real exam. Then I mentioned that I have some pain, so he told to come back for another appointment and that this appointment was only for annual, wow I was shocked and told him I usually get my annual and my normal dr asks me if there is anything bothering me and no need for a second visit; his answer was " that is your other dr not me" exercise me! Anyway long story short, not long after he changed his mind and decided to examine me and see what is wrong. All this made me uncomfortable, so as soon as I went home I checked the patient portal and noticed that he created 2 entries for the same visit with different date ( what a cheat). Best doctor for yourself or your parents. My Mother is in a golden years and is 92 years young and strong. Dr. A. Listens and pays attention to his patients as well as the needs or some concerns. I recommend him gladly. He has addressed issues and is very patient and kind. That makes it for all the other things that some doctors don't pay attention to kindness listening. That's very important. You want to be treated the same way you were treat others or even your own mother or father. That is Dr. Asunción. read more

Dr. Asuncion is my Doctor as well as my husbands'. I am very happy with his care. Every time I call to schedule an appointment i get one within 48 hours of my call. I've never had to wait long for one and when i have a questions I always get my answer clear and fast. Women, please think twice before using Dr. Ascuncion as your OBGYN. I was treated with absolute disdain by this doctor. He was rude, and condescending to me, bringing up stuff in my chart from 40 years ago as though it were a current problem, and wanted to discuss them as such. He even put in my chart that the reason I came in was to discuss abortion, crabs, herpes, etc. Stuff that happened when I was homeless at 13 years old. I was in for a wellness visit and standard pap smear, not anything else. WTH? He acted disgusted by me and used an entire tube of KY and acted like I was contaminated with a disease. I will NEVER go back to this misogynist doctor again, and hope you won't choose him either. read more

I have been a patient of Doctor Asuncion for 8 years. I am a white male, 59 years young, and in great physical and mental health. However, earlier I had experienced a number of nagging injuries and medical problems. Doctor Asuncion went the extra mile in making sure I was receiving the best and most comprehensive medical care that I could receive. What separates him from other doctors is that he takes the time to listen, really listen to what I have to say. He is engaging, intelligent, accommodating, well rounded and clearly up to date on all medical procedures and best practices. And if he feels uncomfortable in an area, he will recommend a specialist. The worst doctor I have seen in my life. Avoid him! and don't fall for the innocent smile. To my understanding, he scams you and your insurance. Here's what happened to me: I visited him for the first time to establish contact. Paid my co-insurance for it and things went fine. He wrote a blood test for me. I also asked him to write another test as well. Which he did. Two weeks later I got a note that he has charged my insurance $400+ for "fertility consultation" in addition to the visit and I have to pay my part for that. I can only say wow. Had he told me that he was gonna charge me extra, I would have accepted the charge. At no point did he mention that was going to charge me extra for the extra 20 seconds that it took him write the test. In case you think he has spent another 10 seconds looking at my lab results, I should let you know I have not done any of the labs (blood, etc). Edited below: ------------ Sutter itself is a corporation with all the pros and cons. But the fact that sutter did not let me appeal this and I had to go through my insurance for this scam is not very appealing. As a matter of fact, we moved away and kept coming but the commute was killer so we found some new doctors. They are not bad BUT they are no comparison so I have decided to come back and suffer through the commute for quality care, terrific bedside manner, intelligent, engaging and compasionate personality plus he's funny! read more

Dr. Asuncion is an extremely caring and responsive physician. I have received emails or phone call follow ups from him or his staff during the evening or on weekends. He explains things clearly and remembers your history from visit to visit. His staff is friendly as well. The office uses an online system so you can see your test results, request refills, or ask questions in a very convenient way. read more

Dr. Asuncion is the best. My wife and I came from the Kaiser family of doctors and swore by them. However, my company changed to Aetna in July 2011 and we had to find new doctors for her existing health needs. We located Dr. Asuncion due to the proximety to our home and he has been the best. He is extremely knowledgeable, prompt, the best we have ever had. He also researches all his referrals before he recommends them to his patients, and these people are just a good. WOW what a Doctor! i LOVE doctor asuncion. i followed him from an albany clinic to the hilltop office even though it was a bit out of my way. i've also usually preferred female doctors, but dr. a. is just too wonderful! he is a good listener, encouraging when i am trying to work on a health issue. he helped me get through an addiction to alcohol with no judgment, no hassles. he watches my cholesterol which is borderline and other concerns. he seems to know the newest/best drugs for things. and he respects my own research into things as well. read more

Dr. Immanuel Asuncion has been my primary physician for 4 years. He is very thorough and follows up with all of his patients. Dr. Asuncion always makes time for his patients in addition to offering same day appointments which is very helpful. When i found him from Humana medical group. i had gone thru several previous doctors and they were either mediocre or very bad. Additionally Dr. Asuncion is in a very busy area near the mall. I an 60 yrs old, single, have diabetes, asthma, hypertension, sleep apnea,arthritis and several other illnesses. Recently Dr. Asuncion had surgery and was off for three months. During this time while he was recuperating, he had an excellent nurse practitioner by name of Melanie Perez who is always awesome. In addition, he has by far the most excellent medical assistants including Maggie and Jessica. He also has phlebotomy lab in his office open 8-5 with supreme phlebotomist Julia Kipper. I am worst blood draw. But she is very kind and great with all of her patients including myself. Im very happy with Dr. Asuncion and his entire staff. I first heard about Dr. Asuncion from one of my friends who used to be his patient when he was a resident. She raved about him. When I first found out that he was part of my health plan, I was hesitant to switch over to him because he was on the younger side. I decided to switch over to him a few months ago, and it was the best thing I could ever have done. Thank God he moved to the Bay Area. Dr. Asuncion is the BEST...DOCTOR...EVER. He is extremely knowledgeable and the most thorough doctor my family has ever had. He was able to diagnose and successfully treat a medical issue I had after my first visit. My previous doctor, whom I was with for several years, was unable to diagnose this problem (even the specialists couldn't figure it out.) He is a jack of all trades. My husband used to have to see an orthopedic surgeon and physical therapist for his sports injuries, but Dr. Asuncion has done a better job taking care of my husband's sports injuries all on his own. My husband and I both Crossfit, and as a Crossfitter himself, Dr. Asuncion is well versed in different sports injury and his medical advice has kept us injury free. He explains medical issues and treatment well. He is a doctor and a teacher. My mother understands her diabetes better now that she has ever had (even though she used to see an endocrinologist). no one else has been able to get her diabetes controlled. He speaks Spanish which makes my mother feel comfortable Dr. Asuncion is able to relate to people on different levels. My family knows him as the cool doctor. He doesn't carry himself as a stereotypical stuffy, pompous doctor; but rather, as one of the homies. My son sees Dr. Asuncion as a role model and now wants to be a doctor when he grows up. His office runs like a well oiled machine. Starting from the receptionist to his medical assistant to Dr. Asuncion himself. Even though he has many patients , you do not have to wait long in the waiting room. His staff is excellent. Dr. Asuncion leads an awesome team.
