This is probably my favorite place to grab some Haitian patties. This is kinda like a mom and pop store in little Haiti in Flatbush, and the patties are delicious! I normally go and get a dozen and freeze them until I'm ready to eat them. They freeze and reheat well. I normally get all flavors, chicken, fish and beef. All so good! This place is amazing! I was at the FedEx and could literally smell it all the way down the road. The bakery was what was the most delicious smelling. I followed my nose and decided to pick up the pistache, and the soft white biscuits as well as the big flat palmier. Would love to know the real names if someone could tell me! The older man behind the counter mostly speaks Haitian but we got along with my rusty French. The space is small and it's definitely a grab and go but it's never quiet or empty. All the food that I got was simply delicious to the extent that I will come back to try out all their other baked goods as well as their pate. The pistache was heavy and had a kind of molasses on it with what tasted to me of rum. The biscuits were incredible! They had a sweet and spicy combo with a hint of cinnamon to them and they are soft but have a home made cotton candy texture to them The big flat thing is like a palmier but less flakey. The go to Haitian "pate" spot. Just the aroma of bread and patties baking when you pass by is enough to make you want to go in. Their patties have a special flaky and buttery crust. Poul (chicken) and the beef options are well seasoned, beef with chopped onions. Not oily. You can never go wrong with the fish. Yes the proportion of dough to meat is not totally ideal (we would all want more meat in our patties) but I feel they are ahead of many other places. I was happy to see this mom and pop shop still thriving. Line out the door this past Christmas Eve. 30-45mn wait. People of all ages but mostly us Haitians supporting each other. Long time customers coming through, recapping with each other, tipping the workers on the way out. Speaks to the consistency of this place. And they don't just sell patties. Anything pertinent to Haitian cooking is sold here, from condiments, groceries to baked goods (bonbon lanmidon, langue palmier are my favs) and special drinks you don't get everywhere (AK100, cola champagne). Full meals are made here as well (stewed dishes, rice and peas). Just expect to take them to go. However, a month prior to that I was given a box of burnt dry patties that were inedible. I suggest trying one before you buy a bunch. I come here often but not really sure why I haven't reviewed it. These are my favorite type of pates and everything just works out so right here. I always get each flavor when I visit since I live pretty far. Yes, I take the bus all the way here with no regrets. The fish, beef and chicken all taste delicious with flaky pastry dough and buttery goodness. The lemonade is sweet but the vanilla is a nice touch. I like it better than regular lemonade actually. They also sell other items like dried lalo (jute leaves) for $5 a bundle which is like an earthy spinach that goes great with crab or meat bits. The Haitian bread is super fresh and they have little items like candied nuts and salted popped corn kernels. The castor oil is by request in the back but it's cheap vs. store brand stuff and sold in little baby food jars. I've only tried the Haitian patties on a friend's recommendation. I tried the chicken patty first for only $1. It was warm, flaky and buttery. The perfect pastry. Then the meat is seasoned with a little kick of spiciness. I went back the next day for a beef patty and this time was smart enough to buy 2. Just as good as the chicken patty. If I weren't dieting, I would probably go there every day for a daily fix. But I'm definitely looking forward to having this as an occasional treat. Cash only and usually no wait.
