I enrolled my daughter at IMG Academy for the Spring 2025 semester, for what was billed as a rigorous girls' soccer program and superior academic environment. Our experience, however, was disheartening from the start. Despite being told there was only "one spot left" on the soccer team, she arrived to find her new roommate was also joining the team and in reality, only four girls on the team were actually attending IMG, forcing outside recruitment. Over two months, they only played two competitive games, nowhere near the frequency promised, and their coach was absent for 4-weeks before the school notified us of his termination. The facilities were equally disappointing. My daughter never had hot water for her showers, more often she only had cold water so she would skip showering altogether. The dining hall's food quality was concerning too; a student mentor who once worked in the kitchen mentioned that the morning eggs were just powdered mix and water, and microwaved before being served. The cafeteria often ran out of protein, leaving only pasta and rice. The living environment raised serious red flags: her bed bug bites eventually numbered around 50, even after attempts by the staff to address the infestation. From her dorm window, she often witnessed students hooking up, and one time a male student with his hands down a female student's pants in an unmonitored "blind spot," an issue apparently not uncommon. Academically, cheating ran rampant, with little to no consequences for those involved, and two of her teachers left the school within just a few weeks. For the considerable tuition and lofty marketing claims, IMG Academy's reality fell painfully short. I urge prospective families to ask hard questions and demand clear, specific answers if they're considering enrollment. No matter what you're told or promised, their enrollment agreement gives no guarantees of service nor refunds. Me and my sons come here every year to spend some quality time away, and to visit family. My older kid has enjoyed the football camp since he was 10. It motivates him to keep his grades up each school year. Early on it was a great confidence booster having him walk all over the campus to and from his sessions, lunch, and social events. They have a great facility better than many colleges I'd say. He is turning 14 this year, still loves it and continues to want to go, and we will. As the person spending the money, I'll say this; after everything is said and done, the money that you'll spend here, you can certainly get more individualized, one on one training, that would probably offer better results. What this is, at least in my case, is an experience for my kid that he'll remember. He's made friends here that he keeps in touch with and learned some valuable concepts as well. The football camp here is essentially like every other football camp as far as most of the drills go. But instead of being on some dirt field in a city near you, you're at the beautiful IMG Academy! This camp was one of the worst camps I have ever taken my children to. From the outset when my son was stuck alone the entire first day, was unable to eat dinner due to food allergies and nobody to help explain what was safe, to the improper rooming with kids NOT in his sport, things started off poorly. I was sold on the promise of him rooming with other football players but, instead, he had one person from golf and another from basketball. Neither of which were there the first day until right at bedtime. And then got worse. The breakthrough sessions were terrible - with the coach literally telling my son in the first session that he was there to get paid and did not care about him. My son was there to learn how to be a better QB and not once did he EVER receive any instructions in his breakthrough session to that end. Instead, the coach spent his time teaching receivers how to run routes and ignored the QBs entirely, or discussing who was the fastest receiver, or flat out ignoring the entire group and, instead, playing on his phone. The football sessions were also a joke, and my son only learned what little he did learn when OTHER KIDS showed him some things. As a QB, he was forced to be a receiver during the scrimmages, with other receivers being randomly forced to be QB. He learned absolutely nothing, never got any reps at the QB spot, and the entire camp was a massive waste of money. Then my son got injured the evening prior to his last day and he could barely move his arm. When he reported his injury to the coach the next morning, instead of sending him to the Sports Center to get help, the coach told him to play through the pain. This is not the Superbowl, this is a 12-year-old with a strained shoulder. The response was outrageous but fit in exactly with the disaster that was this camp. read more

We visited IMG Academy for the first time for a State Track and Field Meet. The facility is well maintained and offers a wide range of accommodations to host sporting events. This review is strictly based on the Track Meet we attended, and utilizing IMG for an outside, non-IMG event. There was ample parking, plenty of benches for seating, and a nice concession stand that actually served pretty good food. Bathrooms were well maintained and frequently cleaned. While there, we saw many athletes that appeared to be either practicing or boarding at the Academy. Compared to many other fields we've been to, this has got to be one of the nicest and we were very happy with the meet. read more

Money grab and waste of time - the IMG winter soccer camp and IMG CUP are promoted as college scouting opportunities. However, the so-called IMG Select team is placed in the Silver II category if the IMG CUP which is the lowest level of 8!!!!!! The play is bad, on the worst field on campus and a total waste of time. I took my son out of school for this and regret this completely. There was not even a written review of the players at the end and just an offer to discuss individuals by the camp director who only showed up once during the week and not during games to watch the so-called select team. I have a boy and he attended the school and the tennis program there. the school which I am glad exceeded my expectations. The teachers were very good. He took all AP classes and enjoyed them. Then took the exams and did very well. The teachers were very helpful and kind. The tennis program was solid and my son improved a lot. I noticed comments about the food. I thought it was very solid. This weekend (Dec 2022) our team participated in the Winter IMG Cup. This was supposed to be a College Soccer Showcase, which by definition should be a tournament designed entirely to give soccer players the chance to play in front of college coaches from around the country in an effort to be recruited. These tournaments are instrumental for college coaches to scout youth soccer players for potential recruits. Whereas we did see a few college scouts and the competition was somewhat questionable, I find it mind blowing that an institution with such high reputation (and expensive programs) would have so little interest in truly promoting the love for the Soccer. With the World Cup Final happening at 10:00 am on Sunday, you would think they would take advantage of the opportunity to bring to together the 300+ teams participating in the event to some sort of an event, or at the very least have screens showing the game throughout the facility. But instead, the did not have a single place to watch the game, and worse yet, they actually scheduled games during the 3 hours of the final, effectively making it impossible for numerous kids that love and play what is arguably the greatest and most popular sport in the world to be able to watch what may have been a lifetime experience of an opportunity that only occurs every 4 years. HOW SAD! In the end, teams that had scheduled games during the final, spent their playing time more worried about the progress of the World Cup match, and actually huddled together with referees in between halves to try to see what was happening on their cell phones, and not caring much about showcasing any playing skills. We are still not sure what happened, or why this organizer chose to ignore the relevance of the Fifa World Cup. But is clear that IMG does not care much a this particular sport. I wonder how many tournaments or football games they would schedule during the Super Bowl or Baseball games during the World Series, or Basketball games during the final four or NBA finals. But then again, the most important games in each sport may not be as important as collecting their fee for the tournaments, ID camps, and schools, who cares what they learn from these. My son attended IMG sports camp for football for three weeks this summer starting in June I must say I'm really disappointed. IMG sports camp maybe it's just the football camp in general but they promised us a lot of things and they just did not deliver not to mention the cost at over $2600 per week they promised us films that you could upload the huddle they did not deliver they did send videos but not of my particular son it was always in a group. No way to upload them to huddle. they promised weekly sports evaluations and we only received one out of three. The also packed in the players to the point that the kids chad to wait around just to get a turn. I just feel IMG is capitalizing on there brand as a sports camp and they just do not deliver what they say. They only care about the kids who are superstars and ignore all others. This review is for the tennis summer camp for kids. Mi child was there for one week (luckily we did not sign for more). He did spend the day at IMG and sleep in an Airbnb close to the site. The camp was nothing extraordinary. He was matched with kids with a similar level and similar age and that was good. The morning session was a 2 hrs divided in warm up/stretching out of the court, warm up rallies on court, group drills (4 kids per court with 1 trainer feeding balls) and a bit of a match play. Instruction was extremely limited. This was from 8-10 and that was it. Afternoon another two hours , just a match play with again just a little bit of coaching/instruction. And that was it. This was the "basic package". I could have possible added more (upgrade the package) to get more hours of in court or off court stuff but however I'm happy I did not because based on what I saw, nothing was worth the price you'll pay. Again, I am not saying it was bad, but I was expecting much better. I paid more for one week there than what I pay for an unlimited all summer camp where I live at. Players are about the same level in both places but instruction is much better at my place in amount and in quality. We did just one week because we wanted to get a taste of what it was before committing to more, but I wanted to believe I would see some little improvement in my kid, but I did not. Also, I had that sense of too much time wasted. I understand, I paid for the basic package, but that feeling of having nothing to do most of the day after having paid so much money was frustrating. Camp was am 8-10/ pm 1-3. Because my child was not in the dorms he was not "socializing " that much with the other kids and so the rest of the day was a bit boring to him with not much more to do in Bradenton than visiting some malls. My child has been playing for many many years. USTA National ranked top 50 and intermediate UTR, so I believe I have a bit of knowledge and references to compare and contrast. And no, I don't believe we will come back. At least Not any soon. In my opinion Something has to change there, or either they lower the price or they give something more. My 2 are mostly rated on cost/benefit ratio. Maybe I would have given 3 if only the tennis (take away what I paid for it) was in the equation. read more

My child (and three others) were there for three days and they sent them home due to the fact that they (IMG) sent a Covid positive driver to pick them up at the airport. They did not nor do they intend to tell any other campers or parents of this (all of whom remain on the IMG campus now) despite the close contact with my child and the others. I strongly advise anyone considering this camp for their child to look elsewhere. I read reviews before sending my 12 year old son here that cautioned against the lack of supervision and enquired about this specifically before singing my son up. I was told that this was not the case and that children were kept in "pods" and therefore together and activities during their stay. What my son experienced was the exact opposite of this. While the coaching may be good, it is a total free for all. I would compare it to college - where the children are expected to be at their practices, but largely left to their own devices outside of those times. Update- found out there were several other kids who left the school mid year. All of them lost half the tuition money. In my niece's case, they apologized and recognized their wrongdoing but still refused to refund. Proves this place is nothing but a money machine. One other thing, they claim they care about kids and that they teach growth and responsibility. Baloney. Another girl in the program stole my niece's golf cart. She was caught on camera bc her parents pursued it with security staff. I mean my sister literally flew to the school and saw the girl stealing on camera. What did the school do? They made the girl buy a new replacement bag after my sister threatened the school after days of failure by the girl to return the cart and no further action by the school. Nothing else. The girl got away scott free. The girl was a known cheater amongst the other girls. School didn't care. What exactly was the school teaching by example, what message were they sending? Our son has great coaches back home and we feel that there is much we can take back home to add to that instruction. I'm currently attending IMG as a post-grad baseball player and can say it has been one of the worst experiences of my life. I came down in September with hopes that this would be a year of development before college, but IMG failed me in every aspect imaginable. First, I will give instances of how IMG works, then I'll give my general take at the end. You can skip to the last paragraph if you just want that. My parents and I were promised by IMG that we would be helped by their team of recruitment specialists but this was not the case whatsoever. I met with one guy who was very unimpressive a couple times and he advised me to aim for easier schools and send emails. I ended up getting my college commitment completely on my own with a school that was a very safe option for me. I realized that the strength and conditioning program was a complete joke immediately. We went through a lackluster and outdated evaluation (which took two weeks) before we started. The program then gave no attention to the individual, so I'm not sure what the evaluation was for. All 35 kids or so received the same sheet of paper. Not only that, we hardly got any coaching. The practices, similarly to the lifting program, give no individual attention at all. As a positional player, I have not received hitting instruction all year! Practice is just about getting reps. We'd take some swings in the cage, head out to the field for some positional reps and call it there. After the first month, I got a stress fracture in my low back. I went to see the head trainer first. He blew me off and told me to go see the baseball trainer. The baseball trainer is ridiculously under qualified. My guess is he either went to school here or is a local but he doesn't know what he's doing. I stopped seeing him and went to see a PT (which was an additional cost). He was a bit better. I told the head strength coach I was injured but still wanted to get stronger while I was out. He didn't give me any help and so I basically sat in my room doing nothing until November. When I came back after Thanksgiving, I came with my own strength program. The head coach said I needed to see the injured athlete coach. I was informed they had an injured athlete program and was furious why I had not been told months ago before I bought an expensive program and before I wasted 6 weeks doing nothing. The head of the injured athlete program, also the assistant baseball strength coach, ended up being a complete fraud. He looked at the program and said he would write something up for me that would be more catered to my needs. Great, finally IMG doing its job. But that never came. I checked with him daily for a week and it was a different excuse every time. Later on, I asked to meet with him to go over the team lift and he gave me a day and a time. I showed up, he didn't. I texted him to see if he could email it to me which he said he could. I followed up three more times and never got a response. I decided I had had enough. Since then, which was about 3 months ago now, I have been going off campus three days a week to a do a program that I wrote myself. I'd lift on campus but you're not allowed to be in the weight room unless it's with the team. I'm at IMG Academy paying nearly $100k for elite coaching and yet I can't use their facilities and I'm writing my own f*cking programs. The quality of life as a student living on campus this year has been egregious. We're not allowed off campus for any reason other than medical (I have to lie and say I'm going to PT when I want to lift). The food sucks and there is nothing to do. We have a pool right outside which is really just a tease because it's never open. I only mention this stuff because I was going to move off campus second semester but I didn't because my roommate moved out and I'd have my own room. Early second semester, I'm told by campus life that more kids are coming and they need to put someone in with me. It's unfortunate but I can't really blame them. I learned later on that this was a complete lie. What happened was that kids on the other side of the floor were creating issues and they needed to be split up. So not only was I lied to but I got screwed because of the mistakes of other students. I tried to move off campus after this but was told there would be no refund, and then I tried getting my own room but none were available. Here's my general take on IMG. It's a brand-over-everything business that couldn't care less about its students. The faculty are either wildly under-qualified or underpaid and don't want to put in any effort. Unless you're a national team player, the coaches and trainers can't be bothered with you. You're treated as an annoyance if you seek extra help. Most of the kids are too spoiled, too dumb and too complacent to see what's lacking. For the few smart and determined, the disinterest of the faculty is discouraging and more than frustrating. The Basketball Camp was NOT GOOD. It's an "IMG Boarding School" sales pitch masquerading as a camp. You're paying for the IMG name. They know tennis and possibly football. Everything else is an IMG - Ingenious Money Grab. Here are 10 PROS and CONS of this camp. Cons 1. NO COURT TIME TO PLAY BASKETBALL - The first day is 5 hours of basketball and drops to less than 3 hours in a full day. The first day we saw a mother complain about all the "FREE TIME" her son gets that she's paying for. 2. NO SKILL EVALUATION OR INDIVIDUAL ATTENTION - Kids are grouped by age and not skill. Seasoned AAU players are lumped in with kids just learning to dribble and shoot. This takes away from both groups. In other basketball camps my kids felt like the counselors focused on areas they needed to get better and gave them individual attention to help improve their skills. They did no feel that in this camp. 3. TOO MANY SPORTS GOING ON - They are trying to cater to too many sports (Tennis, Football, Golf, Basketball, etc.) and end up being mediocre at many of them. 4. LITTLE SUPERVISION & UNINFORMED STAFF - There's no visible security or supervision outside around campus. Once a counselor was found questions about different activities usually led to confused looks and suggestions to ask other camp staff. It's basically a bunch of college kids watching teenagers, tweens and adolescents. 5. UNORGANIZED - The basketball schedule did not include the building locations or correlate with a campus map. Kids were lost the first day. 6. SPRAWLING CAMPUS - This is a problem because you need to take a tram to get from the dorms to the basketball courts or classrooms or any place besides the cafeteria. 7. OVERPRICED - You don't get what you pay for. There are a number of camps that give you more actual basketball instruction. It appears this camp is basically an introduction to their BOARDING SCHOOL and less a basketball training camp. Pros 8. BIG BEAUTIFUL CAMPUS 9. GREAT DORMS (with AC) 10. STATE OF THE ART FACILITIES FINAL THOUGHTS: Do a cost/benefit analysis of this camp compared to others. They're feasting off the IMG name and the program is not good at all. It appears this program was slapped together to get people to pay for the IMG mystique. Your child WILL NOT become an elite player because of this program. If you do put your kid in the program please stay for a day. You will be horrified by the number of teens just hanging out in the lunchroom or on campus. The only time you see an adult is when there is a weather advisory and they make everyone go inside. If you have any experience with basketball camps you will see all the glaring deficiencies of IMG's camp. A good AAU camp would beat this camp hands down. They're taking a boarding school approach to a basketball summer camp program. Most of the reviews are negative for a reason. read more

Our 10 year old son attended the 4 day Thanksgiving Week soccer camp and had the best time of his life! from the moment he stepped on campus he was in awe. The campus is state of the art! the soccer fields are spectacular! Soccer players under 12 are only allowed to attend certain times of the year due to the intensity of the training. Our son who is very fit and a technically solid player found a new level to push himself to. IMG has given him a new standard to play to. He said he did not know he could push himself that hard. Four days of training at IMG have impacted him more than the last year back home and he plays for a structured professionally coached team. I recommend the boarding options. Our son had so much fun hanging out with the other kids from all the different sports from all over the world! He said the food was good too, particularly the pizza. Each dorm has a dorm mentor who enforces the rules and watches out for the boys. IMG is worth the money!!! Our only frustration was with registration... email responses and return phone calls where very slow to be returned!!! I didn't deducted only stars because the actually camp and coaches are as good as it gets! The coaches and trainers highly impacted our son! This program started with Tennis and now has Baseball, Football, Basketball, Lacrosse, Track and field and Golf. Initiated by the legendary Tennis Coach Nick Bollettieri in 1978 the program has since grown to provide young athletes the opportunity to train in multiple sports programs. The scholars who attend are Boarding and Non Boarding students. Each student athlete is challenged and supported to develop academically, athletically and socially. The air here is contagious for any young person who aspires to reach the next level in their chosen sport. The financial commitment differs for boarding and non boarding athletes. Based on my experience and feedback from other parents so far. I'm pleased to say I would make this decison for my son to attend over and over again. I had what i was looking for.. my dream come true and tennis improvement. Imagine being where the names of Agassi, Courier, Williams, Nishikori and many more pros went to train. A clinic session is $100/hour but i paid for a 5 days package. They offer morning and afternoon sessions. If you are serious about training, one a day is enough. Note that tennis is not the only one sport, they offer football, golf, and baseball. They need to get better restaurants and more parking space. read more

I sent my son to IMG Academy this summer for a week long lacrosse camp. Both my son and I were very excited for the week, with assumptions that there would be drastic improvements in his lacrosse playing and physical attributes. However, this is not how it worked out. I signed him up for the "Game Changer" which meant that he would have small group one on one training. However, this was a total waste of money. He said that they only did the "Game Changer" once. When I asked what they did, he said they watched lacrosse games. Are you telling me that I should be paying $500 extra so my son can sit inside and watch a lacrosse game? He told me that every practice they would wait between 10 and 15 mins for the coaches to show up. And that in practice the coaches showed no care towards the athletes and their improvement as a lacrosse player. Before I signed my son up for the camp, I called the department of lacrosse at IMG to ask about the camp and what they will be doing. I was quite shocked when my son said he didn't do any of these things. Overall, I am very disappointed with IMG and their lack of care towards the athletes coming to try and get better.
