I lived in a house rented through IME and they were terrible. They took 6 months to fix the heating which didn't work. During the time the heating didn't work the house had a damp and mould problem. IME's solution was for us to keep the heating on and the windows open. This was during the Scottish winter when the heating in the house didn't work.
When the problem became so bad that we tried to contact the landlord directly IME told us that we weren't allowed to contact the landlord.
When I was moving out of the house IME carried out an inspection of my room without telling me and then tried to charge me for an industrial carpet cleaner to remove a "very big stain" which was actually some spilled water. I only avoided this charge by agreeing to hire a professional carpet cleaner myself, by which time the water had dried and the "stain" was gone.
During my time living there IME sent a number of people the house to carry out inspections or repairs. These people all entered the house without prior notice and were given keys by IME.
The staff at IME where very unhelpful and when complaints were made they either responded with rather sarcastic emails or blamed unnamed colleagues. read more
