You're reminded of the 70s and 80s in here as the chairs are old, the style of theater is that of an old one and so is the audio and video equipment. Don't get me wrong, I come by for the chance of watching throwback classics as they play old movies and independent movies. It's fun to watch movies you grew up to on the big screen but the movie experience isn't the greatest. For newer independent movies in a newer theater, the World Exchange usually gets some. Either case, those theaters are far from sitting in TIFF Bell Lightbox in Toronto. For more throwback movies you can check out the new Mayfair that opened in Orleans or the newly renovated Mayfair on Bank St which I believe are much better theaters. Coliseum recently had a throwback movie month and played classics on their modern screen with modern audio and video and that was amazing. The nostalgia is great here but honestly with the Mayfair that opened in Orleans and the renovation of the Mayfair on Bank St I really hope the Bytowne follows their lead.

They offer free parking for two hours which is amazing and honestly life-saving. Took me a while before I knew this. I have come to this place on multiple occasions and had the chance to almost try everything in the menu going from salad, too burgers & wrap. I tried a few drink also the bloody Caesar and a few slushy drinks. I love that you get to eat a meal while you're watching your movie and a very comfortable seat. If I have to recommend one of the item it would definitely be the wrap I think it is the tastiest one. Have a great solid option and honestly the size are pretty good. Price a great considering that if you go to the movie theatre the popcorn is crazy expensive. I wish I took more pictures of my food too show you. Most item rank between 10$ and $20 really good. Also before I forget they also have arcade games when you come in. Really fun if you come in with a few friends or by yourself Arcades are fun right. But be careful some games or just to gain points so depending on if you really want to claim your points to get prize or if you wanna have some fun depends on you.

The air hockey is fantastic, and worth the tokens as you actually get a decent amount of time to play. They also have a photo booth, how fun for memories! I also recommend the "hand claw game" (is that what you call it? LOL), where no matter what, you get a prize every time! Worth the tokens and fun for the kids. They have a couple of restaurants, one that serves Starbucks frapps, ice cream, and outtakes, popcorn, the usual movie theatre candy and treats. Plan ahead though, as it can take some time to get popcorn. I don't frequent the actual theatres much to watch movies, as I prefer to watch movies at home, but I have been the rare occasion and the seats are cozy. The hubs is a huge movie buff and loves the theatres here. They also have stars and strollers, where you can bring your little ones here, park your strollers and watch a movie in the afternoon with reduced noise.

A popular and busy place for moviegoers…read more As with many other Cineplexes, this one's big and has many facilities. A good variety of concessions and an arcade provide the bulk of entertainment before you head off to watch your film. Inside, you'll get plenty of room, a large screen, and air conditioning. Some of the theatres have reclined seats for even greater comfort. The big screens have truly been a testament to man's ingenuity. Your concessions are overpriced, as is tradition. For over $20, you can get a combo of popcorn, a snack, and a drink. You can get away with much better quality if you decide to dine in first, especially at all the nearby restaurants. Tickets have also been getting more expensive, but I think there's a designated day where you get tickets for $4. I'm afraid you'll have to check it out for yourself; I got the discounted price when watching Barbie on a Sunday, but the following Sunday, I had to get full-priced tickets for Oppenheimer. What you end up with is the typical Cineplex experience; a selection of all the hit movies delivered to you in all its IMAX glory.

It's almost as if the cinema operator turned the volume down on purpose. Complete with a velvet curtain that rises and old couches (if you're lucky) to relax on, the Mayfair is a great place to catch those flicks that don't always make it to the big theatres. The Short Version: Small independent theatre. Has an old…read moreschool vibe. Tight seating. Weird washrooms. The Long Version: The Gladstone Theatre is an independent theatre and also a registered charity. It provides a venue for independent artists to showcase their work. The theatre is small and only seats 230 people. The seats are tiny. This comment is coming from someone who is 5'0" and 105 lbs, lol. The theatre has a classic theatre vibe to it which I found charming. The stage is not raised. So if you sit in the front row you are literally at the same level as the stage. There's a large centre section for seating and on either side against the walls there's a narrower section. We sat on the right side section and our row only had 3 seats, but the number of seats increased as you go farther away from the stage. My husband and I saw a production of A Mid-Summer Night's Dream there. It was a weekend matinee. There's a small bar that's open before the show and during intermission. They sell basic drinks both alcoholic and non-alcoholic and some snacks like chips and candies. You can bring the drinks into the theatre but not the food. I got a can of seltzer for $4 and my husband got a bottle of ginger beer for $4. Prices are what you would expect at a theatre. The women's washroom had only 3 stalls so lineups were long. There were also huge gaps at the stall doors, where people can look in and you can look out. Weird. I didn't like it. They have a single gender neutral wheelchair accessible washroom that's a private room though (I didn't go in, but that's what the sign said). And I have no idea what the men's washroom is like. But I was not impressed with the women's washroom. There's also no on-site parking. So you have to park on the street. Most of the theatre productions my husband and I see are at Meridian Theatres (formerly Centrepointe Theatre), so I guess I'm used to free parking on-site and roomier seats. I support the local arts so I'm glad this theatre exists, but I'm uncertain if I personally will be attending many shows here in the future. Review #190 (2025)

There is a bar/snack bar out front and you can bring your purchases into the theatre. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The only downside, and it is kind of a big issue in the winter, is parking. There is no onsite parking. We parked a block over in a paid lot. Considering it was snowy and cold, it was kind of a drag to have to walk to the theatre. In nice weather parking wouldn't be an issue. On the up side, it is right off Preston with lots of choice for restaurants to dine in before or after the show. Other than parking, the place is great!
