After a few hours shopping up a storm at the Trainyards, I drove over to Scotiabank Theatre to take in a matinee. I went to see Rocketman. I had already eaten lunch, so I took a pass on the popcorn. I still wanted something to drink, as it was a pretty hot day. I got a Diet Coke. I paid for my movie ticket using the Cineplex app. It's fun to show your ticket and go. The downside is if you don't have enough battery power on your phone, you're out of luck. I like this theatre. There are headrests. I liked resting my head against it now and again, to relax. The screen was crisp and large. The sound quality was excellent. There was plenty of legroom. My drink had room in its cup holder, too. It was my second time seeing Rocketman. I loved it again. I also loved the air conditioning! It's a decent movie theatre, with plenty of parking. It's all good to me. (284)

This is the old silvercity cinema. Brings back a lot of memories, all the time I came here with my friends. I love that they have a little arcade now. Pay 25$ get 40$ worth of playing, most things are 1.50$ to 2$ to play. You collect points that you can use for gifts. I on'y made 45 points... haha I could get a few candy options. I will keep them for later for better gifts. I love that they usually have all the movies in this location. The seats are clean that I also a bonus. Always lots of friendly staff to help you. The movie price has come up quite a lot so I rarely go now. Costs are about 50$ for two people to get 2 ticket some popcorn and a drink. I would recommend coming on Tuesday tickets are almost half price. I have had the chance to try a poutine, its ok. The sauce was hot but the fries tasted old and were cold. Movie time

I've been to many theatres in ottawa such as the coliseum in the west end, the cinema plex in south keys, and the empire theatres in Orleans. The silver city at Gloucester is by far the best of the best! The staff is always friendly and polite. I've never had a bad customer experience and I've gone to this theatre over ten years!! They have a wicked arcade section. I've played a few games. I wish you could just use quarters instead of tokens, but whatever. It doesn't change my experience. The food selection has changed a lot over the years. I remember back in the days they had a Burger King lol. Everyone will complain about the food prices but just eat before you go to the movies and sneak some snacks in the theatre (they never check anyways ). They have the best seats and plenty of leg room, especially when you see a movie in 3D or in IMAX. My favorite spot in at the corner just above the entrance. Perfect with smooching with your partner. Tuesday are half price but be warned it's going to be super busy. So tell me what's your favorite theatre in ottawa and why?

I love that we were able to order popcorn at our seat. The seats were definitely run down, esp since we've last been, pre-covid but sut seats were still spacious and comfy. And I really enjoyed the options to lift the arm rest between us so we could hold hands. The pull out tray also came in handy for our coffee & popcorn

They offer free parking for two hours which is amazing and honestly life-saving. Took me a while before I knew this. I have come to this place on multiple occasions and had the chance to almost try everything in the menu going from salad, too burgers & wrap. I tried a few drink also the bloody Caesar and a few slushy drinks. I love that you get to eat a meal while you're watching your movie and a very comfortable seat. If I have to recommend one of the item it would definitely be the wrap I think it is the tastiest one. Have a great solid option and honestly the size are pretty good. Price a great considering that if you go to the movie theatre the popcorn is crazy expensive. I wish I took more pictures of my food too show you. Most item rank between 10$ and $20 really good. Also before I forget they also have arcade games when you come in. Really fun if you come in with a few friends or by yourself Arcades are fun right. But be careful some games or just to gain points so depending on if you really want to claim your points to get prize or if you wanna have some fun depends on you.

The screenings were at The Arts Court, Bytowne Cinema, National Gallery and St. Brigid's. I went to see a few shorts and a few longer feature films. I loved seeing the different animation styles. All screenings are about 70-90 minutes long. Many shows have more than 1 screening during the festival, so if you missed it the first time, you can catch it on the second screening. The shows really run the gamut from having traditional story lines to really out there stuff that was too artsy for this science major! LOL. They have screenings particularly for kids and workshops for kids too (to encourage them to get into animation), which I thought was cool. They also offered a special pass for free for teens. I also attended the picnic that was at 50 Sussex Drive. It was mostly people in the industry; they were very friendly and I had a good time. They served pulled pork sandwiches (including a vegetarian version - not sure what it was made of), macaroni and cheese, and a green salad. There was also a pumpkin carving contest, but I left before that took place. Overall, it's a really cool festival!

Although I wasn't able to attend all of the various functions during the week, I managed to still spend a huge amount of time watching the screenings plating at the ByTowne cinema. Whether dark and moody, abstract and impressionistic, or bright and optimistic, the variety of short films I saw showed the broad and expressive range of talent currently out there in the animation market. The finale of the festival culminated in a best of viewing for those of us who managed to miss a few events and showings. The OIAF has a variety of other things going on during the five day bonanza. Virtual Reality displays and shorts were available throughout the week, special times were set out for younger audiences, an industry networking conference was underway, and there were daily late nighter celebrations into the wee hours of the evening. I'd recommend this festival both for animation and film aficionados as well as the regular newbie consumer such as myself. I know I've managed to make a few new acquaintances during my time here in addition to having the privilege of the exposure to new art in the hours spent here.
