They did an amazing job setting up for our chosen theme and helping to manage the flow of decor, food, people and presents throughout the party. The space is setup wonderfully to support all ages and keep the kids contained and alleviate the pressure on parents. It is helpful to have the flexibility to set our own schedule within the party time on when we eat, do cake, etc. The team did a great job helping us out and checking in and making it a great day! read more

Because of the weather forecast, we had to switch from an outdoor venue to an indoor one only a few days before my son's 3rd birthday. Imagination Playhouse made it easy to check for initial availability, with clearly written policies and party package offerings listed on their website, so I was able to secure the ideal time-slot with a deposit and waivers signed within minutes of calling. I was able to bring in catering without extra charge, while they provided the utensils, napkins, and plates. Issa and Jeff were my facility coordinators for the day. When we got there at start time, they were ready at the door to help us unload. They set up the decorations and snacks. Later they assisted with the catering, cake cutting, and distribution. Lastly they helped me tear down the decorations, pass out favors, and helped us load everything back. They were kind and patient with us, and they made running this party so much easier. The facilities were clean and organized, with age appropriate play areas set up with plenty of couches so parents can sit and watch their kids. The party room at the back was open at all times so kids could fuel up and go back out. It was a private party, which made the experience a lot more enjoyable for everyone. Most of the kids knew each other from daycare and family play dates. The parents got to spend time socializing with each other. We visited Imagination Playhouse for a birthday party and felt a bit mixed on the experience for our 3 year old. The play structure itself was definitely a hit - lots of fun slides and climbing areas that kept the kids entertained. However, it's worth noting that it's more challenging for younger kids who may not be tall enough to climb up on their own. I had to climb into the structure quite a bit to help my toddler, so parents of little ones should be prepared for that (my knees were not prepared). Beyond the structure itself, there were some ... issues. The place felt disorganized, and the active construction at the front entrance didn't help. There was no designated area for stroller storage and the front was hard to even get into. Cleanliness was also a concern; we noticed sticky spots and general grime, particularly inside the bathrooms. Food is allowed everywhere, so you can imagine how that goes with a bunch of small kids. Given we had to take off our shoes to access the play structure, I would have liked the floors to be cleaner. At other play places I've been to, there's more separation between the party room and the play area. I'm hoping, based on other reviews, that our experience was less than amazing because of the ongoing construction. Overall, Imagination Playhouse has the potential to be great with its engaging play area, but the disorganization, accessibility/storage issues for strollers, and cleanliness concerns need addressing. read more

Came here on a Thursday around 2pm. It was pretty empty, but the staff was very friendly. It's pretty spacious with both big play structures (climbing, slides, tunnels, ball pit) and smaller play area for younger kids. My 5 year old had a blast climbing and going down the slides. It also checked the ball pit box (which she'd been wanting to experience). Great set up, clean + friendly staff made for a great experience. read more

We hosted our daughter's 2nd birthday here and it was absolutely perfect. We made arrangements ahead of time to rent the entire space and paid for a decorating package. Susie was absolutely great to work with and was even able to accommodate our needs for a pink baby shark birthday for our little one. They are super nice and accommodated our group. We arrived and set up the food and did not have to worry about decorations or table settings. It was the WAY to go, no more renting an extra hour just to haul my own decorations and set up before the event. (We did local catering, delivered to the site) The kids had the BEST time, running around and playing in the structures and doing what they wanted to. We wanted a place with flexibility, which is what other play places don't offer (strict times for playing and eating). Even my friends and family had a great time, they could let the kids run around without having to watch every move. We had the whole place to ourselves with staff at the front door to make sure everyone stayed inside. It was great. My family and I attended a birthday party here for one-year-old and absolutely enjoyed ourselves! It's in a pretty busy part of town so parking is not easy. I love how they close the location for parties. It really helps you feel safe and not on high alert. The play area is gated in so it makes it fairly difficult for a little one to slip out. A huge win for any parent in my opinion. They have two slides, two ball pits and an eating area with a good enough space for decorations, food, cake, drinks, etc. The party lasted two hours total. I'm not too sure if you could stay longer than that... I also saw that they offer drop offs starting at $25 an hour for one child. To be honest we had no idea that this place existed in San Francisco but we will definitely consider it for future celebrations of our own! read more

We rented out imagination playhouse this past weekend for my son's 3 year old birthday for two hours and had the best time! The ladies working that shift were so helpful in carrying in some items from our car to offering to help blow up the balloons I bought but hadn't gotten around to filling, they even assembled an impromptu ballon arch!! We did bring our own table cloths and decorations, utensils and beverages (ITs byob if you choose this route) then we ordered a cake and pizza from the neighborhood. At the end the ladies took care of the cleanup as well we just had to pack up our stuff. A perfect easy birthday experience, the kids were obsessed with the play structure. This place is small and cozy so I recommend renting out the whole place for a party. I probably wouldn't come here for open play but for parties it's perfect. It has a range of play areas for crawlers and toddlers, as well as older kids (probably up to 6-7years old max). Plenty of metered street parking and cute stores around. read more

What a gem in SF! Went here for a kiddos bday party and I kid you not, ALL the kids were living their best life! The bday boy turned 7 and I have a 4,2, and 1 year old and there was something for all the kids to enjoy. I absolutely loved the little tunnels and ball puts, kids were all having THE best time. The space is really special and unique. It's an intimate setting and they made the best use of space with the play structures built upwards towards the ceiling which made the play space really dynamic/ I also love that they were able to rent it out for their private party, invite only. You can bring your own food so you can really make it your own event. Parents could chill out and hang while the kids were confined and safe. Little gem of a play space that is super clean and a saving grace on those days when weather is bad and you can't get your kiddos out. Only $12 drop in fee to play ALL DAY which includes in and out privileges. You only have to pay for kids--accompanying adults are free. There is a separate baby/toddler area with smaller climbing structures for the littles. Clubhouse with some books for quiet time and a play kitchen directly underneath. The large play structure is amazing. There are two different kinds of slides and a bunch of tunnels and levels to work off that pent up energy. Best of all, adults can go up to help their kiddos around if your child is not big enough to climb and explore on their own. Space is tight though so you'll get a work out too trying to figure out how to maneuver! There are two bathrooms with changing tables. Tons of snacks and drinks for purchase up front. Free WiFi and small sitting area to eat or to plug in your laptop to do some work. All the parents here are really friendly and the kiddos well mannered. There is limited metered parking directly out front on Geary. Half the meters are 30min max so you may have to keep going outside to feed the meter like we did. There is also 2hr neighborhood parking if you don't want to park on Geary. SOCKS ARE REQUIRED for both kids and adults. Be sure to bring your own or there are socks for purchase up front as well. I was really impressed with how clean the entire place is considering it's a kids play space. Especially up in the play structure. Everything is well maintained and not gross like some other indoor play spaces we've been to. According to the woman working up front, they wipe down the entire structure every night. Well it shows because for a place that's been open for over 2 years, everything looks brand new. We will definitely plan on coming back here to work off energy on rainy days! read more

What a great place, we celebrated our daughters 4th birthday here- we loved that we had an option of a privet party with out outsiders- the place has a lot of entertainment options for kids- the staff was courteous and helpful. We had so much fun that we ended up extending it by an hour. The owner is great and works with you and is very accommodating. We are planing to go back to celebrate her 5th birthday there as well. We first came here for a baby shower and my 2 year old had tons of fun so we've taken her from time to time as my in law's live within walking distance from this place. We usually go an hour before they close since it's only $7. Place is clean for the most part and the staff is friendly. The only issue I've had though is when another child threw a ball into my child's face even after asking them not to throw balls at her period-- to be fair he was with a younger sibling so his dad was tending to her when it happened and wasn't around to see him do it but other than that whenever we've gone, other parents are tentative to their kids. Now that it's getting colder out and with the rain, it's our go to spot since we can't take her to the playground. read more

We love this place and my son Sawyer asks for his birthday party to be here every year. It's so comfortable, the play structure is enormous and has lots of parts so the kids never get bored. Sawyer especially loves the two ball pits and that the balls can get from one to another through a long tube. I wish there were more photos of the play structure available! It's really a spectacular place. The party room in back is great, and the parents can enjoy a beverage while the kids go nuts. It's indoors so doesn't matter if it's cold or rainy, and it's secure so you don't have to worry about your kids wandering off. The rates are really good for such a service. We love it and are heading back for another friend's birthday party on Sunday! read more

We just threw a big party for our baby girl this past weekend. We had tons of stuff to bring in to set up, but the staff there didn't even let us in start setting stuff up nor help us set up. The place was empty before the arrival but they still didn't let us in to set up. At the end of the party, they didn't give us a break down on what they charged us. We paid for 3 hours private party, our ending time is at 2:30 pm, we left at 2:30:08, and they charged us 3$ for the .08 seconds. It seems like this place is run by kids and there was no manager around. To me this place is very unprofessional. Would not recommend throwing a party here. read more

Just threw my son's first birthday party at Imagination Playhouse yesterday, and all of my guests (young and old) had loads of fun. The adults and toddlers loved the slide structure and the ball pit. There was a section in the back for infants to play. I've came here once in the past, and felt that this was the best indoor playhouse I've visited in the city, and decided to throw the birthday party here. With our party package, we had two staff who helped us with the set up and clean up, and I am so grateful for them. I already had a lot of help from family and friends, but the two extra staff sped up the preparation and cleaning process, and kept reminding me to cut the cake and clean up to avoid penalty charges for staying over the actual time. We've been taking our family to Imagination Playhouse for three years, and we love it. It's the perfect place to go on a rainy day, a super hot day, or just any day! It's great for both my 3.5yo and 1.5yo. My older kid can run and climb on all the awesome apparatuses and go down the giant slide, and my littler one can play in the "baby" area and ball pit.
