I should have wrote a review at the time but with a new baby I didn't get time.

Instead of simply saying "excuse me", she made a hand gesture towards us to move out of the way. She wasn't smiling or particularly polite about it, and the whole interaction came across as quite rude and dismissive. Another worker even looked at her and then at me afterwards, which made me feel like the interaction was noticeably awkward. I completely understand that staff need to get around customers, but a simple "excuse me" would have been much more respectful and professional.

Eventually found it after a few false starts and U-turns. The thing I always find about Smyths is that every time I go in I feel somewhat overwhelmed. I mean it's a huge shop with floor to ceiling shelves of brightly coloured things... as I walk in I can never figure out how exactly I'm going to find the thing I'm looking for. The one in Tallaght is no exception, although it's quieter than the one in town, which means at least my ears wheren't assailed at the same time as my eyes. After wandering around a bit and wondering where the aisle with the trucks on it would be, I found what I was looking for. While pondering the various merits of tractors versus diggers (and indeed possible choking hazards), one of the staff asked if I would need any help. He really was helpful in finding age appropriate toys for the discerning two year old who prefers things to look like replicas rather than toys, and I ended up buying something on the shelf which he directed me to. It's probably also worth saying that there doesn't seem to be a large carpark near the store but there is a reasonable amount of on-street parking, although how available that is during the day I don't know.

This is one of those newsagents that tortures parents everywhere. It's the eye-popping pick 'n' mix…read morecounters, the immanently desirable cuddly toys and all those peculiar magazine versions of cartoons that makes this place a siren for little kiddies. They get sucked in by their own odious childlike greed and have to be surgically remove them from a larger-than-life stuffed Garfield twenty minutes later. The proximity of Tuthills, which I think used to be a Bus Stop, to the cinema is what made Saturday matinees a tense experience for me and my family. I still pine after those bloody Garfields today. There really must be something genetic or magical about the allure of a stuffed Garfield because I never even found that cartoon strip amusing. So I suggest if you're going to a matinee in Dun Laoghaire that you sneak up on Little Billy and throw a sack over his head then run past Tuthill's like a child snatching Santa Claus. It'll be easier for everyone, otherwise, and take it from me, you'll never hear the end of his wailing and moaning about Garfield.

Whether it be drinks, sweets, crisps to satisfy or you need some practical stuff like magazines, books, stationary supplies, greeting cards, wrapping paper, etc. Also as a newsagents they stock smokes, cigars plus national lottery ticket sales. Why 5 stars for a newsagents? I often take my niece and nephew overnight and the following morning if they've been good, whilst out and about we always finish up here and they pick out something from the little toy/gift area (wins me some awesome auntie points), the staff are always so friendly with the kids and patient. The kids like to pay the man by themselves and I love that they never rush the kids, they often comment on their toy and share a smile so this, ye know what, is just so hard to come by these days.
