I had to try to find parking on the street but there were to many houses so they had the typical LA parking restrictions so you needed a permit to park. But if you get lucky there is a meter right outside so if no one is parked there you can get that parking. Other than that it's super 2016 coded definitely an LA staple so it was fun to visit. But because of that it also gets super crowded and you have to be lucky to get a good picture because there's no courtesy so people just photo bomb without a care but it's still a super cool thing to walk by and visit at least once!!! She specializes in ultra luxurious textiles, including vintage from all over the world. She never duplicates any piece and is willing to do as many fittings as needed to make the perfect garment. Her rates are extremely reasonable for what she does and the clientele she designs for. A similar dress for any other designer dress would be around 10,000, but she does couture work for a fraction of that price, even losing money on dresses sometimes! We booked an appointment 4 or 5 days ahead of time, as there was full availability on the calendar for weekdays. There is a 48 hour cancellation window, and at hour 47 we realized that the timing conflicted slightly with a work matter (when we made the appointment we were in New York and miscalculated the time difference). An email was sent at the 47th hour (1 hour after the window), mentioning the issue and asking if it could still be canceled since it was so close to the window, and apologizing for missing the window. The owner replied and specifically said "No problem, we've gone ahead and canceled the appointment for you". At this point, we figured all was well as they made no mention of still charging the fee. A few weeks later, we noticed the charge was still there. A quick email reply came when we inquired saying it was past their window and no refund was due. IF this was the case, why did the original email not say so and why did they make 0 effort to reschedule or ask if another time worked better? OR we could have made it work if she hadn't responded so positively. What a slimy way to make a quick $27 for nothing. I will restate that the calendar was still really really open (ie, it was not a highly sough after appointment slot taken from anyone else even on the off chance they were booking in the 2-4 days out window). Overall, it is a blessing the appointment didn't happen after reading some of these reviews about how the owner acts in person (no surprise there). Ended up with a beautiful dress from Berta and would highly recommend their new LA showroom on Beverly.
