BMI is what I call a small air station. Once I parked the rental car, I could've jumped the fence and walked 20 paces to my gate. Security was a breeze, nobody in line except me. I continued to the gate and didn't explore the one dining option. Restrooms were clean and tidy. Gate areas were organized and had ample seating. 4 airplanes for BMI!

Although the airport is very large, the automated walkways make it easier to get around, especially if you have a connecting flight. A wide variety of food options are available-- from food court-style, fast food (McDonald's, Starbucks), to fancier, sit-down restaurants. Ample seating options are available as well-- from couches, lounge chairs, tabletop, and more. It's a nice variety to rest or get work done.

It's very easy to traverse, and it has a unique vibe where you're most likely to run into anybody that somebody here knows. I love the way that this airport is laid out. Unfortunately, I don't really go through Chicago as much because my travels are mostly south-centric, but this remains one of the top three airports for layover or transition. This was exciting as many many years ago the only options were connections in Chicago and that can always be hit or miss because of weather. There are two terminals and you can tell they've added new chairs that were super comfy. As another reviewer said, the security check made me laugh as I agree they must be so bored all day. I have the new "real ID" and the ladies working the check in spot got some leaflet out to verify my states drivers license and then were discussing it while shining some weird light on it. This airport still offers free parking which is unheard of these days. No need for the cell phone waiting area, you can actually park and walk inside to greet your loved ones as they arrive to SPI. :-)

Free parking and very convenient for anyone needing to get to Springfield IL or head out (the TSA can use some improvement as they go through all of your baggage in detail at times such as your 311 bags - and snacks such as almonds peanuts etc in zip lock bags - partially cause they probably don't have much to do or are being nosey). I landed here from Ohare and it was a seamless process from landing to inside my rental car (enterprise ) in less than 8 mins! Amazing. The car was even pulled up curbside for me!!!

I was told coffee and popcorn was fresh and inside. I went in while he fueled my plane, went to the bathroom (very clean) and grabbed some coffee and some popcorn. The coffee was good the popcorn was very good. The place was very clean and I would gladly stop here if in the area. I didn't ask about a courtesy car, but they did have a very nice boardroom for use.

On a recent trip through Peoria airport the the officer giving me a pat down leered at me and commented "this is going to be fun" he also commented that "I obviously didn't know how to listen and I couldn't follow simple instructions" I had moved my head during the screening. I was, and am simply speechless. Its taken me months to just get to the point that I can offer a review. I have flown hundreds of times in the last 20 plus years and around the world, no where i go am i treated as poorly as I am in the US and in Peoria airport and Chicago O"hare in particular.
