The park itself is very pretty, lots of green space, very mature trees that provide a ton of shade, picnic tables, and fire rings and it is very clean. The downside is you are sandwiched between Highway 74 and a train track and it is very loud. I can honestly say and all of our travels this is the loudest we have ever had From a nearby highway. We had our overhead fan running on high all night and you could still hear the semi's rumbling by so we did not get a good night sleep. There is a nice pool here and they had music playing so the kids would probably really enjoy this place. Lots of room to roam! We were assigned slot 19, which is a nice pull through site. We did have a bit of trouble with low water pressure at this site. We also could not get the Wi-Fi to work. We could connect, but the speakers were so low. We couldn't do anything with it. We have Verizon and cell service was great so that worked out for us. At $36 per night for a 30 amp site with a good Sam discount it's a pretty good deal. Staff were super friendly as well.

Small area but it was very clean the machines were very reasonable priced compared to other KOAs I have stayed at. Now for the Deluxe Cabin well I was presently surprised. I have stayed at several KOA Cabins in NC and KY and this is by far the best one. It was super clean, full size trash can, good size fridge, nice little sofa and TV. The bathroom was a little cramped (shower nozzel was shorter than me (and I'm not tall) so I had to duck in the shower to use it. There are plenty of hooks and towel rod to hang wet towels though. If you need a blow dryer, bring your own..this cabin doesn't have one like some of the other KOAs. The Deluxe Cabins L2 and L3 (I think) have a cute little courtyard around including a fire pit, wood swing and patil area with full size patio table for each cabin.. If you are in the area it's definitely worth stopping by.

When we come, we typically rent all the cabins, a few RV and tent sites. We spend A LOT. Over the years, staff has become increasingly rude--a woman with glasses and a bun that rides the golf cart around the campground was HORRIBLE, just a MISERABLE human being (no one wears name badges I had no clue who I was speaking with when talking to staff or I'd certainly name her here). I wish I'd taken a video, she literally enjoys throwing her weight around, reprimanding campers. It wasn't just us-- we saw her doing it with at several other campsites too. Get a new job (or possibly a hobby?) All that said, that isn't why I'm here reviewing them. Our biggest concern was that upon checking in, the owner Rob had a desk nameplate that said "Visually Impaired Employee, please be patient." I was patient. I want to be very clear that I have no issues with employees with disabilities. However, on Saturday when my friends took their kids on a hayride through the campground, Rob was driving. She could not wait to get off the ride after she realized this. This is unsafe. If someone has issues to the point there is a sign stating they have trouble seeing, why would that individual drive a tractor pulling children? This needs to stop. After almost a decade of camping and thousands and thousands of dollars spent there, our group will never go back. EVER. There is a pizza place on site now, their rates have pretty much doubled if not more. It's become a business and is no longer the campground that we loved. Staff is annoyed at everything. Shame on these people for treating us the way they did. The hayride situation was truly unbelievable. They have several employees. Why he was driving? I haven't a clue. I can't believe they don't think people would make the connection--HE TOOK THE TIME TO HAVE A SIGN PRINTED to inform campers he has sight issues for God's sake. Literally unbelievable.

This place is in the middle of farm country with plenty of really old trees, a creek, and a few lakes near by. On a trip into town you pass over a bridge that cuts across a lake. Lots of fishing boats. May need to go back and check that out. The campground is small and attached to a small public park with grill sites, pavilion and permanent toilet huts. You drive though the public part and back to the campground area in the back. Very short and pleasant drive. We arrived early on Friday afternoon and picked our campsite. Some sites were tucked up next to woods and some grassy and open. All were generous on space. All sites had a fire ring with an adjustable grill grate, a short compacted gravel driveway for your car, plenty of flat area's for your tent(s), and a sturdy picnic table. Some sites had electric hook-up, but you had to pay a little more for those. Short walk to the dumpster, fresh water pumps, and bathrooms. Behind the bathrooms there was a slop sink with a hot water hose specifically designated for doing dishes. All amenities were not too close and not too far. Dumpsters were a little farther walk and away from campers which was appreciated. Campsites were 50/50 mixed between RV campers and tent campers. While it was a fairly quiet campground, there was a constant bike parade of kids pedaling around. Streets were all one way to keep the car traffic predictable and at a minimum. Pete and his son Brandon, are the property caretakers. They stopped by and asked if we needed anything about twice a day. Once Pete noticed that I was getting low on firewood and offered to go and get some for me in his Gator ATV. Never had that happen before. Seriously nice people. Here is the gem of it all - the campground and facilities are IMMACULATE!! I can't stress enough just how clean this place was. You could not find a cigarette butt, food wrapper, pop can, or anything like that anywhere! Even better, the bathroom/shower-house was unbelievably clean. Toilets never had waste in them, there was no toilet paper or waste on the floor, no old toothpaste in the sinks, or no graffiti carved into the mirrors or walls. The exhaust fans were running and quiet, the bathroom smelled clean, and was really well lit and safe. With a 9 and 11 year old daughters, this is very important to me. I've been camping quite a bit and I have NEVER seen a campground so well cared for. On Sunday we were packing up and sure enough Pete stopped by to thank us for our stay and recommended a few points-of-interest to see on our way out of town. Again, I've never had better accommodations and hospitality outside of a brick and mortar hotel. On your way out of town, if your passing near Lexington, IL (a few miles up the road), stop at the "Shake Shack" for a chocolate malt. WOW was that good stuff! Well, that's all I've got. I hope you find yourself in this campsite and in Pete's wonderful care. You and your family won't regret it. Happy camping!
