The park itself is very pretty, lots of green space, very mature trees that provide a ton of shade, picnic tables, and fire rings and it is very clean. The downside is you are sandwiched between Highway 74 and a train track and it is very loud. I can honestly say and all of our travels this is the loudest we have ever had From a nearby highway. We had our overhead fan running on high all night and you could still hear the semi's rumbling by so we did not get a good night sleep. There is a nice pool here and they had music playing so the kids would probably really enjoy this place. Lots of room to roam! We were assigned slot 19, which is a nice pull through site. We did have a bit of trouble with low water pressure at this site. We also could not get the Wi-Fi to work. We could connect, but the speakers were so low. We couldn't do anything with it. We have Verizon and cell service was great so that worked out for us. At $36 per night for a 30 amp site with a good Sam discount it's a pretty good deal. Staff were super friendly as well.

Unfortunately, the electrical upgrade to the campground was delayed until March/April of this year instead of being done in the fall of last year. Now the camping sites are in the process of trying to grow new grass as the sites are being used. While the electrical upgrades were needed and appreciated, the need for a previously discussed lighting upgrade within the campground has not been completed and poses an additional Safety Hazard to occupants of each upgraded site beyond that which already existed. Finally, Daily rates were increased from $17.00/site last year to $25.00 (30 amp) or $30.00 (50 amp) for the 2022 camping season. Longtime and dedicated Friends Creek campers feel that such a drastic cost increase is not justified and in fact, will have A negative impact to the 2022 season. Many of the dedicated campers have already started using other local campgrounds that provide better lighting, larger wash facilities, numerous playgrounds and local restaurants, and for a substantial decrease in daily rates.

With a variety of campsites, improving amenities and activities, it's a great place to camp for a summer or for a weekend! We met many long-term campers there, and that speaks a lot to how so many can feel like Condit's is another little home away from home. Highly recommend hooking up here for a weekend or a season! Also... don't forget the bug spray. It's camping, after all. I would love to come back in autumn after talking with other campers. They had Karaoke on Friday night and a band on Saturday in a barn on the property. We didn't go to either but since the barn is fairly enclosed it didn't bother us. This place is pretty quiet durning the day, like I said it's a super relaxed vibe, maybe because when we were there lots of spots were open. Management is great, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. There are lots of seasonal's and plenty of nightly camping spots too. The RV spots are basically in a grassy field with some gravel, not perfectly level but not so bad that we had to pull out leveling blocks. Big nice trees everywhere. They have a nice playground and a great pond! It seems that they go to the effort to dump fresh sand on one side of the pond so that it's kind of like a beach and it makes to bottom of the pond sandy instead of muddy. There is also a big fountain in the pond that helps circulate the water and I suspect filter some of it. They don't have wifi but we didn't mind. We have been to so many RV parks that "offer" wifi but then you get there and it's so crapy that you feel a little cheated. I'd much rather know what I'm in for up front. AND we had great cell service (att) so we could do anything we wanted to. Happy camping!!

I was especially impressed with their mens room bath and shower! My wife and I were on the road for 28 days and THIS was the cleanest and largest shower I had seen after traveling 6600 miles. We discovered that KOA's have three levels: Journey, Holiday, & Resort. My wife and I enjoyed this Journey as it is the closest to "real camping" with just enough to relax without feeling like you're in some sort of "Disney Resort". I would highly recommend this campground and will stay here again if I ever get the chance!!

Review Visit: October 14th, 2015…read more First impressions are hard to change... If you live in Illinois at all, you know of the budget cuts, budget cuts, tax increases, budget cuts. Jubilee College State Park is one of those that has been hit by budget cuts. Decided to check this place and Jubilee Cafe out in the same day. My first time there, I encountered a few areas that were closed due to inadequate staffing. So a lot of places have become overgrown and broken down. This state park is beautiful and it's a shame that it is in such a bad shape. While looking up some info on it to write this short blog, it appears that after 3 years they finally have a (volunteer?) Park Ranger and a volunteer group to help clean the place up and make it usable. Having never been here, I tried quite a few different places that I thought were openings to go hiking, but I really never could tell what was what since everything was overgrown. Now if this volunteer group is helping out and making the place a bit friendlier, I would love to go back and check it out again. Maybe even update this blog post. I just hope I don't have to mark it 'Closed'. It fills me with such sorrow that beautiful recreational places like these are cut short on budgets and fall into disuse. I won't get into politics, but I hope they figure something out and restore this park and all the other closed/understaffed to their rightful natural beauty.
