I am very pleased just to relax from noon to 4 and catch and release. A lot of kids come with parents and it's nice to hear the excitement when the kids catch a fish. The young man that manages the park is Adam and he has many volunteers each week that assist anyone needing help around the lake. The cost is free, $3.00 for a dozen worms, and they have fishing poles you can use for the day at no cost! They put cut up hotdogs and cheese in little cups at the counter you can use and those items are free. It's been warm lately, but in the next week or so it's going to be cooling off. Perfect weather to enjoy catching fish, some sunshine, and you and the kiddos can enjoy the day. Highly recommended and pretty much no cost! There's also a lake that has a cool bridge that makes for classic scenery. An interesting history about it. It's the largest park in the city to be sure. The park is best known for the zoo. Actually it has an interesting history itself. The zoo has its own business page on Yelp. As for the rest of the park, there's other stuff worth exploring. There's a pretty big lake. Go take a walk across the stone bridge. The park also has a mini golf course and softball fields among other things. Also check out a preserved steam locomotive. There's also a pavilion for those wanting to have a picnic. Has lots of activities throughout the year including festivals and fireworks. It's located east of Morris Avenue and south of Wood Street. They also have entertainment such as outdoor theater.

If you don't have a boat, besides swimming and hiking, there aren't many activities especially for the kiddos. The bathroom situation here is not ideal AT ALL. You have to be a real trooper to use the "bathrooms" in the camping area. They're really just glorified outhouses or port-a-potties. And they STINK. I'd rather go in the woods or walk all the way up to the shower house, which is also equally if not more creepy. The showers feel very prisony. Camping spaces for rvs is really nice. There's a good amount of space to spread out, grill, or play whatever lawn games you surely brought along. all in all, this is great for the adventurer and seasoned camper. Just don't focus on hygiene
