I'm actually quite surprised that no one has reviewed Prime Tax yet. I work in the university and…read moreI think Prime Tax is ideal for getting your taxes done. The guy usually charges about $40-50 for single person tax forms and perhaps $80 or so for a couple filing together. His tax services are perfect for university-goers since he has a lot of experience dealing with academic payments, research grants etc. I have a few other friends in my situation who went outside to get their taxes done and, to be honest, a professional tax agent near Jasper Ave or something, wouldn't know how to handle the T4A's of research and other academic workers. In fact, even though we all had nearly identical T4A's, I managed to receive the (correct) highest tax returns. Most others got less because of subtleties in exactly identifying the kind of income. Prime Tax also does Western Union wire transfers, which is quite useful, owing to the proximity from work. I've used it a couple of times and find it very convenient, rather than walking to a bank on Whyte Ave in the middle of the day

Then, it was 1 hour ish later that I got sat down in front of a what seemed to be an experienced accountant. Going through my papers was fun but what's even better is knowing that you don't owe the government anything and they do really try to find as much refund you're entitled as they can. My accountant was quite pleasant, bubbly, and chatty which made the lengthy time spent in H & R Block much much more bearable. A happy accountant makes a happy customer. :)
