Tariq was extremely unprofessional. He submitted documents to the CRA without my consent. After I…read moreconfronted him about it, he refused to fix the issue, and instead cursed at me MANY times. When I escalated this to the management, they refused to speak to me to address the situation. After many days of persistence, Hanuradha spoke to me once, and emailed me once that they can't do anything and they refuse to take liability. Basically saying too bad, and took no responsibility of the mishap, or fixing the issue. Then they just stopped responding altogether. I never got a refund, and I had to hire another accountant to fix their mess ups. They originally speak very politely but stop responding after taking your money and incorrectly filing WITHOUT permission. Don't go to this company regardless of a cheap price.

I'm actually quite surprised that no one has reviewed Prime Tax yet. I work in the university and…read moreI think Prime Tax is ideal for getting your taxes done. The guy usually charges about $40-50 for single person tax forms and perhaps $80 or so for a couple filing together. His tax services are perfect for university-goers since he has a lot of experience dealing with academic payments, research grants etc. I have a few other friends in my situation who went outside to get their taxes done and, to be honest, a professional tax agent near Jasper Ave or something, wouldn't know how to handle the T4A's of research and other academic workers. In fact, even though we all had nearly identical T4A's, I managed to receive the (correct) highest tax returns. Most others got less because of subtleties in exactly identifying the kind of income. Prime Tax also does Western Union wire transfers, which is quite useful, owing to the proximity from work. I've used it a couple of times and find it very convenient, rather than walking to a bank on Whyte Ave in the middle of the day

To be fair I only had to file my T4's. He charged me $40 which heck of lot cheaper and was way faster than H&R Block for the same filing. Also no walk ins came in front of me. I will be coming here to do my tax returns from now on.

I was told that tax return for self employed individuals cost $80 when I booked my appointment over the phone.By the time they were done with me, I paid $145. Here's their explanation: $40 for personal tax return + $80 for self employed tax return + $20 for having transportation/vehicle expenses claim. Lucky for me, I did all my receipt and expenses calculations already, otherwise that would have cost me more. I was surprised they didnt start charging for every paper clip and staple they used to prep my tax return!! A bookeeper preps your paperwork, not an accountant. The accountant in the office DOES NOT check the paperwork prior to filing. Next time, I will just purchase a turbotax software and do it myself. Filing with Trehan Accounting office is a complete RIP OFF. PS. The google reviews I found online were written by their own office staff. The fellow who wrote a stellar review on Google Review was actually the bookeeper that did my tax return. What a bunch of crooks!

The accountant had a large monitor on the wall of his office where he can show you on the CRA website all of your info. My rate was around $75.00 Compared to the $25.00 fee at "Happy Tax Returns", it's a lot more expensive, but it's so much nicer and more comfy here. It's also accessible for persons with disabilities. "Happy Tax Returns" is not. The wait time at Happy Tax Returns was about 2 weeks. It's just a better experience and I felt I trusted Smarttax a lot more. The last time I was at Smarttax was 8 years ago. Hamill remembered us. He provides you with a folder to take your forms home. Happy Tax Returns did not. Smart tax does not make house calls. Happy Tax Returns does if you call a couple weeks in advance.
