I am a huge fan of this shop…read more The concept is similar to Clas Ohlson anywhere, but this shop in Triangeln is slightly smaller than the one in Emporia, obviously because the lack of space. You could find pretty much anything at this shop, from baking form to bicycle lights - from ice cream machine to electric saw. Fantastic, isn't it? One stop shop for pretty much everything. The service was friendly as always. There was actually a shop attendant on the entrance greeting everyone with "heisann.... do you need anything?" Fantastic. For someone like me who got lost in home improvement tools jungle, I could always use a help!

It is mostly made up of clothing chains but there are some good specialty shops (also chains) in between like Webhallen, Clas Ohlson, and Lagerhaus. There is even a small pet store (more like a kiosk) in case you forgot to get the cat's food and you're on the way home. Though most of the building is boring, there is a beautiful wall of plants next to L'Occitane. If only there was more of that! It is right next to the train station, the bathrooms are clean (and unisex), and there are over 15 places to eat so it's not the worst place to make a pit stop.

I actually thought it would just self die when more and more stores started shutting down and the shopping centers outside the city grew stronger. The turnaround came with the new station at triangeln. It also meant that this mall got a much needed renovation so part if it now looks modern and airy. That has to some extent revitalized it but the selection of stores is still the normal stuff you will find in most Swedish malls so a it boring. A few new food places have also opened up but also there very little excites, still it is a vast improvement compared to what it was.

Scandinavian minimalism with character, neutrals that are still distinctive and beautiful? It's a fine balance, but DANSK manages to hit it just right. Need a special gift, or something distinctive for your home after that pay bump? Head to DANSK. My previous statement might have tipped you off, though: this ain't cheap schtuff. To counter that: I think these are versatile functional designs that you could incorporate into a space for years to come. My favourite things are the little knick-knacks (salt and pepper shakers, desktop clocks) and all of their prints: graphic Copenhagen posters, and bright neighbourhood images from the various zones in the city. I already regret not purchasing the neon pink Frederiksberg poster. Yelp note: for those yearning from afar for Copenhagen, DANSK has a great website.
