I have trained at Tri-State a few times when I was up in the area visting some friends. I like to get my training in and have to travel around a lot. They are about an hour away from me and affiliated with the gym I usually go to so they let me come in to train. I called ahead to ask. They didn't charge me and welcomed me with open arms as if I was one of their own. The instructors were knowledgeable, helpful and made sure I was getting everything good. He gave everyone individual attention and explained why we did some techniques this way or that way to help it make sense. This is helpful especially if you are having a hard time executing the technique (like me) in understanding what I was suppose to be doing. I highly recommend Tri-State. I only tried the grappling, but the other classes looked like they were being taught in the same way and all the students were getting a great workout (the kickboxing). I know I got a great workout training there. Its located in a shopping center so parking is easy too and you can go grocery shopping or shopping right after class too!

It is a great place to learn basic self defense, staying healthy, and MMA. The teachers are all wonderful. It is a wonderful school regardless of age and fitness and skill level. My son did really well here and we loved the school along with everyone there. I highly recommend to anyone and everyone looking for a quality school.

If you live a busy lifestyle, find it difficult to get to the gym but want an awesome workout..then…read more9Round is for you! I found this place when searching for kickboxing studios in the area and I am so thankful I did. The facility is one big room with 9 different "stations" that you rotate through every 3 minutes (hence the name 9round) for a total 30-minute, full body workout. Although there are no locker rooms, they do provide cubbies at the entrance where you can place your belongings throughout the duration of your workout. They also have a personal sized, one-room bathroom if you need to change into your gym clothes before you begin your workout. Don't have gloves or wraps? Not to worry! 9round provides a variety of glove and wrap colors customers can choose from and purchase at the gym. They also provide you with a 9round drawstring bag to carry all your equipment in. Unlike many fitness classes, 9round does not have set class times. A new session starts every three minutes during operating hours so there is no excuse to not work out! They have trendy music blasting the entire time, providing a fun atmosphere to workout in. Each workout is challenging and new every time you go in. The workout is always full body, offering a mixture of strength and cardio throughout. Depending on how hard you work, you can expect to burn anywhere between 300-500 calories in just 30 minutes. However, what makes 9round the best place to workout are trainers. The trainers are dedicated to making you feel comfortable yet challenged throughout your workout. They take the time to walk you through each station so there is no need to worry about whether you know what you are doing. Throughout your workout, they provide words of encouragement which helps motivate you to finish out each round. They connect with each of their members on a personal level by remembering your name immediately after your first visit. If you're looking for a quick yet challenging workout with amazing trainers to help guide you through, then stop in for a workout at 9round! I promise you won't regret it! Plus... your first workout is free!

Updating review to low quality and conditions of the gym, noticed recently lots of old equipment,…read moredirty bathrooms, and unprofessional staff. Front desk people wear really unkempt clothes and are not looking like they work at the gym. There was once a big roach on a desk at the front reception and a front desk personnel would not kill it. It was crawling all over desk. So I grabbed something that was on the desk and smashed it on that big roach. The front desk personnel thanked me for being so helpful. She then said she was not going to pick it up, but instead put a paper on it so others knew it was something to avoid. They have roaches there and I've seen a few. Their air conditioning recently stopped working too!!! My review still applies to instructor named Randon! This gym is lucky to have him. Because some other instructors there don't know what they are doing. With that said, I think I may be canceling this gym. I really want better looking gym with better conditions. They charge over a 100 dollar for memberships but that is over priced.

It was group…read morekickboxing classes along with strength and HIIT classes so I knew what I was getting myself into. What I truly love about CKO is the atmosphere. Everyone is welcome. Ana is super nice in the front and Carlos is such a fun and high energy instructor. I've been thoroughly enjoying his Sunday noon classes. He makes them fun and plays the game "Carlos says" like Simon Says but the kickboxing version. Plus there'sa gym area with mirrors set up around it along with free weights and kettle bells. The room itself is pretty big as well with lots of punching bags available. Being a yogi you would I wouldn't be open to this kind of stuff, but self defense is important and was initially he reason why I started taking up kickboxing. I've ended up loving so much though that I decided it's a great part of my exercise regimen. It boots your confidence, makes you feel stronger, and keeps your body fit and toned because they don't just have you box and jab, they have you do sit ups, crunches, planks, push ups, etc. and a good warm up/cool down. I'm glad I found this place(on Yelp no less). They also sell boxing gloves and other merchandise like hand wraps, shirts, and sweaters. I myself splurged and got one of their crop top sweatshirts which I don't regret because it's very comfy and keeps me warm because it's lined with a fleece like dupe material. There are also lockers available and changing rooms I should mention as well as those are important things to consider. What I particularly love is how they don't make you sign a contract. They are super flexible and accommodating with you. At Tapout, I would be charged a monthly rate but had to be committed to it and if I bowed out, I would still be charged a fee of $170 unless I canceled three months in advance or something to that effect. Gym memberships can get pretty pricey but I love how down to earth and understanding they are here. Like Carlos says, "It'll be the best 60 minutes of your life" :)

When I first came to Spartan I was transitioning from one gym to another…read more I knew I had to make sure I could tolerate the people that were around me that I would be working out with because let's face it, distractions come every day. I also knew I had to find a gym with similar equipment that offered strength toning for my injuries from a prior car accident Because I'm limited on some mobility and they understand this. However, when I walked into spartan and started taking the classes I was blown away. I felt like a kid in a candy store looking at all of the equipment they had to offer in the workouts. it excited me, but challenged me at the same time. Fear started to take over my brain, can I do this bc spartan was far more advanced from where I was coming from. I began taking the drop in workouts, sweating like crazy of course doing my best to overcome the challenge in front of me. I was also looking for a gym with an adult mindset, no pettiness or caddiness, because let's face it... when you go to a gym to actually work out, you shouldn't have to deal with childish distractions. But I saw that I really wasn't going to have to worry about this because everyone there was like a Big happy family that have known each other for years even if they haven't. Everyone here was here to really work out And no one acts as if they are better than you here, instead some of the other clients might come over to help you learn a workout in a different strategy if you aren't getting the movement down as fast as you would like too! I began to see that Spartan wasn't a drama show only drama free zone and when you choose a gym like spartan, you will be able to concentrate better on your workouts! The level of Friendliness from everyone is still there even after I decided to do a month to month contract instead of paying daily. I felt like I was at the right place at the right time if that makes sense, like I hit the lotto because the workouts were challenging and I knew that's what I needed. I know I have the mentality Where I need to be pushed. If I were to workout by myself at home or somewhere like a at your own risk type of gym, I wouldn't go because I have already tried that way before. There is a rotation of trainers for each workout or you can sign up for open gym or do both, whichever you prefer. The classes they offer are a mix of cardio and strength toning, so you aren't just toning but burning calories too and where I was coming from before didn't have much cardio mixed in. But they also offer open gym if you are experienced and want to do it all on your own. They also don't get frustrated with you when you arent getting a move down, instead they keep working with you till you do. It's a great mix and each class still continues to challenge me. Spartan works with you to make sure you are doing the movements correctly and they really do have alot of patience for clients like me who struggle learning a workout. The prices are very reasonable too! I wish I would of done my research and went to this gym first, I am forever grateful for finding spartan gym! Thank you for being so patient with me as I continue into my fitness journey!
