I can't speak highly enough about how amazing Garaguso is…read more Last year, we were searching for activities for our daughter. She was still a little too young to join a sports team. We knew she would take ice skating lessons but that was not enough. Enter GCMA. I happened to be driving down Haddon Ave when I noticed a sign offered a free trial class for kids. This was perfect, as we were not ready to commit to something out daughter might not like. So, we signed her up for the trial class. She was meek, quiet, and in need of exercise. Garaguso offered the opportunity to help with all of these things. Being a creature of habit and craver of structure, martial arts training turned out to be something she absolutely loved right off the bat. She's grown confident, came out of her shell, and is fully capable of defending herself. Moreover, Garaguso teaches the kids Korean, life lessons, and respect. They have a word of the month for each class, the kids things like honesty and respect. Today, they taught the kids a safe procedure of what to do if you get separated from your parents and the concept of a "safe stranger". Second only to Goddard School, Garaguso is easily the best investment we have made in our child's personal development.

Honestly we have found a path for our sons that was unexpected yet keeps giving back!! After…read moresearching the local area for karate studios for our then 5 year old boy, we pretty much threw in the towel because we just didn't click in any studios with what we thought our son needed. We wanted owners that actually train themselves and hold current credentials, a staff to support those ideals and not only teach technique but also life lessons, and last but not least self discipline/self defense. My Mom works in Haddonfield and in Dec 2013 decided to purchase a promotional package to get our oldest son's feet wet into the martial arts subculture. When she went to the studio she was greeted by a young attentive gentleman who is a 2nd degree black belt himself and owns/runs the operation. She could feel it was a good match! Our son started a week or two later and that was basically the beginning of this path. He started as a super ninja and was exposed to all different techniques and lessons while also doing some fun activities at the end of every class! It helps that he actually is a "natural" which we have to thank not only my Mom but also the instructors for noticing it and also nurturing it. He is currently in solid color belts, the leadership program and STORM team. STORM is an amazing concept to endorse the color belts to take their training a step further and help the younger "ninjas" hone in on their training as on-site role models. This husband/wife team has really taken this studio to another level in this last calendar year. Mrs. Huver , having experience being a First grade teacher, joined the school full-time in the beginning of the summer. She just added a woman's point of view and assisted in tightening up the scheduling and planning. More programs have been added, they periodically hold special events/parties and demos, and they work together on the Dojo which is a great example of support for the children to experience. The decor in the waiting area is constantly changing and keeping everyone's interest. They have this awesome FULL WALL CHALKBOARD that they draw graphics to grab the children's attention but also convey all the information needed (belt testing dates, upcoming events, etc) We have recently started our 3 year old and he loves it too! Our two sons actually train at home together which is a great bonding experience for them. While my lil ninja is on the mat, his older brother is the STORM assistant which is everything a parent could dream of. Watching our two boys grow and learn together is amazing but having them be apart of an amazing studio with a great sense of community is priceless. We feel so lucky to be apart of the GCMA family!

My bonus son started coming here for about maybe 2months give or take and all four of us parents have notice such a AMAZING difference in him. His confidence level is at an all time high! He was just promoted to Yellow belt and he has been so ecstatic he is practicing his exercises every day and getting so much better! the place is decent size with parking. Clean and NEVER smells! very nice look forward to taking him every week I know he does too. Mr. Williams is extremely funny and relates to the kids. There are some black belts in that help the adult instructors with the class, which is great. Just one review? No way. Everyone else is too busy getting swoll…read more.. Joining CrossFit was the first part of jump starting my efforts to lose weight and increase my fitness. But it was the easy part: I showed up, got pushed through a great work out, and connected with peers and neighbors who had the same goals. The hard part, changing my lifestyle so I could actually achieve those goals, didn't start until the 21 Day Reset Challenge. Our household has two full time workers and two young children and our diet for years has been 75% convenience so imagine a lot of take out, pizza night, cheese steaks. The 21 Day Reset Challenge forced us to stop and look at what we were doing to ourselves and our goals by abusing our bodies with an unhealthy diet. For each step forward my wife and I made in the workouts, we were probably taking two steps backwards with our diet. The Challenge provided not only the information we needed in recipes, ideas, and the impact of what you eat, but a format that was engaging and a support group from other athletes to the coaches who were also completing the challenge. This was a major lifestyle change for me and I wouldn't have done it without this challenge. It forced me to rethink everything I put into my body and think of it not just as food satisfying a craving but fuel to a machine. If I wanted a clunky, rundown machine, I could keep skipping meals and snacking on sugar and empty carbs, and gorging on fatty meals without concern for portions. If I wanted to reach my goals and turn my body into an efficient and fit machine, I had to have a plan, stick to it, find supporting partners, and educate myself on when and what type of fuel to consume. The Challenge provided all of that and the changes my family has made since then have stuck and changed not just our daily diet but our approach to our family's fitness and well being. So glad to be a member of this community and all it brings, from classes to clinics and fitness to friendships. *JAZZ HANDS!*

Around 9 months currently, with my son advancing to yellow, then orange and now purple. Sometimes this is only for the advanced/black belt leadership students but they nunchucks for everyone recently. Announcements Bow out The class moves quickly which is great for my son, it keeps him really engaged. Some other classes we tried had a really long warm up which was hard for him to engage in. Also, Action has at least two instructors on the Zoom if not more. If the class is hybrid (online and in person) there are instructors in studio who demonstrate for both the zoom and in class students. There are also a set of instructors that are remote and focus on the Zoom students. For the zoom students they will spotlight different kids so that the instructors can give comments and also give the kids some confidence (my son tries his best when he's spotlighted!). Action seems to also be tweaking this recipe based on feedback, I think separating the remote students from the in person so each group has more focus from the instructors. The focus on life skills like motivation, confidence, helping your family, etc is really great for kids, it's a nice well rounded approach and also breaks up the time into different chunks. We are in California, so the timing is a bit difficult since the classes range from 1pm pacific to 335 pacific pacific depending on the weekday. Our current remote school schedule ends synchronous instruction around 2pm so we are currently able to attend 3 classes a week. My son really enjoys Action Karate and I've seen good changes in him over the past 9 months

As a fellow educator, I'm not whistling Dixie when I say these gents are the real deal. They mastered a huge class of kiddos (seemed to be about 40-50 wee ones), all of whom were rapt with attention and respect. They knew each individual student, addressed them by name, and paired them well for exercises. They obviously had a clear lesson plan going into the class, and executed it seamlessly. Each student was motivated to work diligently for their own advancement, and you could tell that they all wanted to make their instructors proud. They also nailed the more intimate adult class that followed, with the help of one super awesome playlist of tunes. They are also both very personable gents. Mr. Brenner came up to me the moment he saw me. He was welcoming, made direct eye contact, offered a firm hand shake, and was sincere. Mr. McQuade is cool, calm, and collected. Friendly chap. And both even made the time to come to my niece's show that afternoon. Lastly, I was blessed to witness a Belt Ceremony, which happened to be for a rather shy student. Mr. McQuade was nurturing and encouraging as he helped the young man recite their motto, and everyone - students and parents alike - ushered the lad into his White Belt stage in supportive, celebratory cheering. It really doesn't get better than this welcoming, warm, encouraging school offering quality education and self-discipline. Any age and body type are welcome, without judgment. Sign up now!
