I've been studying Tae Kwon Do here for over a year now, and it's high time I wrote a review!…read more I've always been a very slow, awkward, unathletic person. I can't dance, and I'm all thumbs and right feet. If this is you too, I guarantee karate will do you wonders. (Thanks too to Josephine M @Traineo for inspiring me over two years to get into Martial Arts!) I found Bobby Leach's Olympic Karate through my son, who attended an amazing birthday party in kindergarden here. Bobby Leach, his wife Andrea, and their instructors were very good with the children and I was highly impressed. It took me two years to get back in and sign up for a free month of karate though. (Shame on me!) I was only going to sign my son up initially, but decided at the last minute that I may as well try a free month too and keep him company. The first thing I really appreciated was the honest enthusiasm. There was no high pressure sales - they let the free month speak for itself! I've been to gyms where the salesperson fakes it for the 30 minutes it takes to get you to sign a contract, but how can you fake it for a full four weeks? The positive atmosphere, encouragement, enthusiasm, camaraderie, and friendly competitiveness are real. The other major selling point was: No contract! You pay each month and can cancel any time - no signup fees, no other expense other than the uniform and belt. The rates are extremely competitive - I paid $100 for my son, and $80 for myself (discounted rates for multiple students). Best of all was the positive and nurturing atmosphere that the instructors and senior students provided. Mr. Bob, Andrea, and the other instructors are really top notch not just in teaching you the basics, but making you feel good about yourself and making you WANT to give it your all. Senior students like Ms. Susan, Ms. Meredith, Ms. Jackie, and many others also constantly pitch in to help fellow students with forms and tips and keep morale and energy high all throughout.

I attended this school as a child, and now 20+ years later, I am happy to say that I am back at the…read moreschool with my own daughter! Great place for families, as the name implies. Did not appreciate Bobby's gift with connecting with children, until I had my own. Also, as a female, I am equally proud that this school has some pretty bad ass women like Meredith and Dee helping run the show - whether it's teaching karate or kickboxing!!!

I've been at this dojo a few months, shy of a year. I've had to take time off here and there due to…read morevarious personal injuries. This place is amazing. As an adult, it is very hard to find high crowd karate training in the United States. Many dojos are geared heavily towards children as their target market and this leads to a sort of watering down of the material. Not here. This place teaches traditional Okinawan Goju. It does not teach anything else which is another rarity among American dojo. There's no arnise there's no BJJ. They don't even really do Kobudo on occasionally using the bow. It's just karate the way they teach it in Okinawa. It passes a very simple test if you Google Morio Higaonno Goju, you will find several documentaries on this dojo's Okinawan counterpart. You will see we use the same equipment and techniques and Dojo as the Okinawan dojo does. You get the same exact experience you would get over there except you don't have to learn Japanese with an Okinawan dialect. Sensei Crespo's loyalty to the traditions of this ancient art is truly commendable. It's also a great deal economically. Training of similar quality can easily run you over $150 in another dojo. This place is just 80 a month. They run a three month special where you also get a uniform. The workout can be up to two hours long. You start off with the kids classes to warm up and then you do more advanced contact heavy exercises in the adult class. They meet three days a week. I've tried a lot of of dojo's in the area and there really isn't a better deal than that. The adult class is very small and within very little time you will know everyone there. It's a very welcoming family like atmosphere. After a few months, I can honestly say I feel at home here. Going here is often the highlight of my week. At first, it may seem difficult. Many of our stances utilize muscle groups that the average person does not exercise, but if you stick with it, you will get stronger you will lose weight and you will learn how to move. You will also learn one of the oldest and most respected forms of karate in the world. So whether you want to learn self-defense, lose weight or find an activity for your kids that will allow them to learn about another culture and burn off energy this is the place to be. The only thing missing is YOU.

I have trained with Sensei Crespo for almost two decades now and I can say with full confidence…read morethat Sensei Crespo is one of the most dedicated practitioners I have ever meant. Every class he encourages his students to give it their all and to strive to improve every day. I owe it to Sensei and my fellow students for shaping me into who I am today. I am proud to be a part of this dojo and look forward to many more years of training.

My daughter was a student here for about five years. They taught her discipline and confidence,…read morethroughout the years I noticed her self confidence grow and her coming out of her shell from being shy. As she progressed through the ranks it wasn't easy but she did it through perseverance and hard work. When she tested for black belt it was a grueling 3 hour test comprising of all the forms and techniques she learned from the beginning on . She also spared students and masters and even had to create her own technique for testing. When she finished her black belt testing I was so proud of her. I saw her grow from being a shy little girl into a confident young lady who could handle herself in any situation, they even made her an instructors aide, assisting the younger students in the class. When she received her black belt they told her she's welcomed back anytime at no cost to train or assist the instructors. Some people may say negative things about a place because they didn't get their way. But Karate unlimited is the real deal if you want your child to be self confident and respectful and able to handle any situation.

This place is about as a Bullshido McDojo as you are going to get! It's a COMPLETE RIPOFF SCAM!!!…read more This place will try to talk you into signing a 3 year contract which is a HUGE red flag!!! And they do it very deceptively! Any good Martial Arts school will not make you sign a contract for more than one year and they will offer a very fair way to get out of that contract by employing the 30 day notice clause. My sister signed up there not knowing anything about McDojo's and got robbed for $900!!! She tore a ligament in her ankle kicking the bags there and couldn't continue. They would not let her out of that bogus contract. She had to get the police involved. Before she eventually prevailed, the company already hit her bank account several times (in a one week span) to the tune of over $900! They said she owed them $6,000!!!! Yes!!! You read that right! SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS!!! She had only been there for 2 weeks!!! Furthermore, what makes this school a McDojo is they have belt test fees (no good school will charge you for a belt test!), children black belts (earning a black belt is extremely difficult! Something children should not be able to do!), black belt clubs (black belt clubs are pure money makers, nothing more!), and a few other things. Read this page or google "what is a McDojo" if you don't believe me! http://mcdojo-faq.tripod.com/ STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCAM SCHOOL AND McDOJO!!!!
