Had a great starter class here. I signed up because I need to move and Groupon offered a low risk way to try this out. I was pleasantly surprised to find I was having fun while working out. The classes start off with warm up which is meant to get your heart rate up. You can go at your own pace. Then the real fun starts as you start punching and kicking the bag to your heart's content. Music pumps you on throughout. It has the energized feel of a spin class but folks of all ages are participating. I also like that they keep the place clean. Wiping down equipment 2x a day and airing it out by propping the door open. The bathroom/showers are also maintained and the ladies shower has amenities such as shampoo/conditioner and body wash. Bought a very well-priced groupon after observing a class. As of this review, I've attended the first class and it's good. I'm not one for group activities, modern dance/pump-up music or all that positive reinforcement screamed at you. (I'm content with free-weights at home and running around my neighborhood for cardio - but winter is coming). However, I've looked into a lot of the exercise places in the Queens area. Most have poor customer service when it comes to signing potential new clients. This place has employees that treat you with respect. That's what matters to me. If you're not in shape, that first class will be a killer. As someone who does moderate exercising, I was only a little sore the next day. UPDATE/EDIT: I've taken stars off and stopped going for 2 reasons. 1: I showed up 5 minutes prior to a Saturday morning class and no bags were available. Clearly, they overbooked. They tried to convince me to stay but I live 5 minutes away and preferred to reschedule. 2: Over the winter break, I arrived to a morning class to be greeted in the parking lot by one of the trainers. She said the lock on the screen door was frozen and to come back in 1 hour. A- Lighter or WD-40? B- Why doesn't somebody have client phone numbers available for emergencies like that? Didn't finish all my Groupon classes and signed up at a local gym for indoor winter cardio instead. read more

Bring a towel. Bring lots of water. Don't wear heavy sweaters or you'll probably die from heat exhaustion (you're going to really sweat!!). Grab a protein smooth from Fitrition next door so you won't be so sore the next day! I found classes for this place on Groupon and I'm glad I did! Oh and by the way, the first time I walked in here was in 2014. After purchasing the 10 classes, I called and made an appointment to come in. I came in and had fun working out! If you want an accurate schedule for the classes, I highly recommend you go on their website (Bayside location). Sometimes it changes so I always check before coming in. The staff members are great! They're very encouraging and motivates you to really push yourself. If you're a student and you're stressed, just come on in and punch it out. Is your job stressful? Come kick it out! I'm usually under a lot of stress and I end up leaving here high on endorphins! You really do have fun when you're at ILoveKickboxing..maybe that's why it's called "ILoveKickboxing"... even tonight, they have a Great Gatsby themed night! I just forgot to come dressed up though. The manager (John) is awesome. I couldn't make it due to some injuries but he was able to work something out for me so I didn't have to end my membership. Thanks, John! They have options for classes and memberships. I went in for the membership...why not? If you end up purchasing classes and you're not a member, then you have to call to make a reservation. Just go with the membership! As for the phone situation, I'll admit sometimes that I don't get through but it's usually because they're teaching a class. They do call back though! Don't be so frustrated if you can't reach them. The locker room is pretty nice. It has two shower stalls so if you need to get ready for work right after working out, make use do those showers! They have a mouthwash dispenser (never seen that before at any studios or gyms), qtips, dry shampoos, etc... is this like spa castle without the sauna?? This place is pretty clean as well. With my own eyes, I did see the staff cleaning the mats.. which is great since I'm borderline mysophobic!.. Parking situation: there's a parking lot but there are times when I find myself circling around the block to find parking.. it's not impossible but I do hate doing it. Since I'm early, there's always a spot in the lot. The lot is shared with restaurants, bar, liquor store, Chase bank, Fitrition, Queens MMA..and others.. Overall, this place is great for getting a workout if you're bored sometimes with the gym. I usually burn at least 600 calories per session and I've shed a good amount of weight. I was a little skeptical of all the 5 star reviews for this place -- how could it be unbiased? But after a friend introduced me to their web special, 10 bucks for 3 classes with free kickboxing gloves (for you to keep!), I decided to try it out. Then I got addicted. The classes are an hour long, and I work up a sweat. Make sure you bring water! The first 15 minutes or so is warm-up/conditioning, where you do intervals of burpees, push ups, planks, squats, ab work, whatever the instructor wants you to do. They're all so upbeat and motivating! Next, you move onto the bag. You learn to jab, cross, hook, kick, etc. You do some combos and then you do partner work. You can always find someone because everyone has such great attitudes there. You end with stretching. I love that you can go at your own pace, and there are instructors walking around to correct you. In January of this year I went to this place for consultation. The owner tried to sign me up for classes. I told him that I will think over before making any decisions. Then I was told that in case I decide to join the club they want to collect the information now so i would not waste my time when come for sessions. They collected my info that included my credit card information. I never signed any agreement and eventually decided not to sign up. To my surprise, my card was charged the next 2 months. I called the owner and he gave me a refund and promised to sign me off the automated payments. He lied. 10 months later I still get charged by this club every month. Nobody returns my phone calls and I have to call my credit card each month to dispute charges. I never dealt with such unprofessional people in my life. I've been wanting to try out kickboxing for sometime after reading all these great reviews and hearing about it from my friends. I purchased a Groupon for 10 classes and was hooked. Sometimes they don't answer the phones but they do call you back or email within a day. I think that was the only hard part in making a first time reservation. The first twenty minutes consist of jogging, lunges, burpees, push ups, sit ups and basically anything high intensity. Then a five minute stretch and then the rest of the class is kickboxing. We use the bag for a bit and before each routine the instructors gives a breakdown on how to do each punch/kick properly. The last part of class is partner work. The classes start very promptly and end on time. Overall, it's a very fun way to exercise and all the instructors are great! read more

These days, the boyfriend doesn't recognize me. I plan my schedule around my kickboxing schedule, I get hyped up to sweat, and then leave the gym...only to plan ahead to my next visit. I've NEVER been a gym junkie or a workout fiend before, and if I was, it was only for a little while as I'd entertain short-lived illusions of a summer six-pack. Soon enough, the treadmills would bore me and the meatheads would annoy me. ILKB has changed all of that with its quick but super intense sessions. I discovered the Bayside branch through Groupon and intended to quietly work through my purchased sessions and then leave. Instead, I found myself signing on as a member by the end of the first class. Like many others, I was hooked. All of the trainers here are top notch - friendly but fierce, pushing you to the brinks of your physical ability until the hour is up and you're sitting in a pool of your own sweat. Best of all, after several months of regular attendance, I'm fitting into clothes I haven't worn in years. And just in case you think I fell for a clever sales pitch, I brought the boyfriend for a visit (who swore up and down that he'd only stay for the ten classes Groupon got him). Guess who else is now a newly minted ILKB member? The only possible downside I can think of is crowding. Trying to find parking in the parking lot can be a headache, especially during the evening hours. Kickboxing has also made its way through the grapevine of physical fitness, so certain sessions might get packed, to the point where roundhouse kicks need to be carefully angled, lest you accidentally plant one in your classmates' face. Small confession - one of the reasons why I didn't want to provide a positive review was to try and keep my gym hidden from swarms of newcomers. Woohoo!! Finally back on my kickboxing flow!! First off, I just need to say that the iLoveKickboxing franchise is awesome. I initially bought my membership (after first having purchased the Groupon) at the Forest Hills location, but I recently moved, so I was praaaaaying that I would be able to keep the 40 classes I had already paid for. To my great relief and delight, I was able to transfer my membership to the Bayside location without a problem!!! #score Honestly, even with the great reviews about this location, I was a little weary because you just never know what you're about to walk into. I was extremely surprised at how efficiently they used their space and how clean it all was. They have a nice reception booth with tons of ILK gear you can purchase and the staff is super friendly and helpful. Nice bonus is that they have a locker room that is decent enough and has plenty of lockers for all the students. Now onto the most important part: the class it self. Let me just tell you that the classes are intense, but in the best way you could imagine. You're pushed by a great team of teachers that keep you going harder, faster and further, but without feeling put down in any way. It's all about building strength and confidence and I LOVE IT. I've done beginners kickboxing in high school and was always interested in kickboxing classes. I finally got a Groupon, which was a really great deal. Each class starts off with 15 minutes of HIT, which can really kick your butt. Next, you move onto the bag and either punch or kick the crap out of it. The last segment is partnering up with a neighbor. In between, there are two sections of stretching. I think it's a fun way to work out and it's super motivating for me. I recently purchased a groupon voucher for iLovekickboxing and I couldn't be happier !! The Chelsea location is amazing! The instructors along with the front desk staff (some of them are both) are super friendly & welcoming! They make you feel like regardless of what level in fitness you're at that you can do whatever you put your mind to. With the voucher for the first class you do get a one on one session to teach you the basics. My instructor for day one was so helpful & patient with me. She was instructing me & one other person simultaneously but not once did she make it seem like her attention was split! I worked out with two complete strangers and did not feel uncomfortable or intimidated at all. It was amazing! After the first class I was informed about the prices for a membership & how I could save on the enrollment fee if I signed up that day. I went in with the intention to possibly sign up regardless so I definitely took the deal! What I would say is that if you are unsure if you can handle high intensity workouts then use your classes that you purchased from Groupon first. It is fun & engaging BUT it definitely kicks your ass (in a great way). The first 15 mins are the hardest part. It's filled with fast paced cardio to get your heart rate up (proper breathing is a must). After that, it's all about attacking the bag to finish off that full body work out! Overall I would say it is a 5 star place BUT I gave it a 4 because of the pricing & scheduling. It isn't affordable for everyone & I wish it was at least $50 cheaper but hey ... you get what you pay for so the price is a bit worth it. Also one other con is scheduling , I wish there were more time slots on certain days but I understand why they might have them set up that way. If you've never tried it, DO IT! I RSVP my first class over the phone and one of the staff gave me a full detail before heading to class. Bring Bottle of water Bring a lock (they have daily lockers available) If you want to shower, they have 2 shower rooms Expect to be barefoot when you work out Different Trainers every class, They are super motivated and also they walk around the room to guide you if you have any problems with positioning or other injuries they can give you alternatives. Here is what they teach you: - First 10 minutes, basic jogging High knees in circles to warm up your body. - here's the tough 15-20 minutes work out (Mix of Push Ups, Burpees, Squats, Sit ups, Anything to make you Burn). - After you are drenched with your own sweats, the Stretch part. for about 10 minutes. - Last but not least... Kickboxing. (Gloves required). The Techniques are basic but for first couple of attempts make sure you have the right position and then you should start punching / kicking the bag at your own level (easy or hard). The instructors are great! I've been to another Ilovekickboxing location in the city and was not a fan of the instructors as they weren't necessarily encouraging. The instructors here seem to really care about their students and making sure everyone gets a great workout. The class is broken up into bootcamp like workouts (burpees, pushups, v ups, jogging, etc) then stretching followed by rounds on the bag, then partner drills. If at the end of the class you are not dripping with sweat, then you're doing something wrong. Also a plus the folks here do not pressure and pester you to buy any packages. I came in on a 5 class pass, I've encountered other fitness studios that hound you to try to get you to sign up for monthly packages. Here they say do whatever is right for you and that is that! After highschool, I had completely let myself go despite being very athletic while I was in school. I was looking for something to get back into a work-out routine when I came across ilovekickboxing. The instructors there are so motivating, fun and passionate about what they do, that it makes the class so much more enjoyable. I've gone twice so far and I love the workout. They do a good job on boarding newbies where the newcomers get individual attention when learning the punches and kicks. First part of the class is jogging and drills (lunges/burpees/sit-ups and whatnot). Second part is several rounds of punch/kick combos. The intro class fee is very reasonable. However they expect you to love it and sign on with them thru a package (35 or 60 classes). When you do the math each class ends up around $12, which is not bad at all. I just wish they had more options available such as a 10 class package for a few $ more per class. I can't commit to so many classes since I'm not in the area that often. I do think that if you're looking to tone up and/or lose weight this is a great option. read more

Absolutely love this place! Originally I was looking for some sort of workout to help bring back my motivation to workout. I use to work out a lot at the gym but it became very routine and I fell out of it. I was browsing on groupon and came across a deal for this place. $50 for 10 classes. Told myself it was a catch. If I didn't like it, it wouldn't effect my finances. My problem is committing to a gym. I've had passed experience where I would join and workout religiously for about 3 months, then i would stop going because I would get bored. For a while I was unhappy with the way I looked and felt. I was always feeling lack of energy. After attending the first class, I must say it was intense. But then again I haven't worked out in so long. I was so sore, i was not able to walk up and down the stairs for about 5 days. However, once i started feeling a bit better, i scheduled my next class and then the next. I started feeling excited and look forward to go to the classes. I couldn't stop talking to my friends, family and colleagues about my experience. At first I thought the class would be routine; but think again. Just when you think you can predict what's next, they switch it up on you. It's better that way because you won't be bored. I feel more energy and motivation nowadays. The past year or so, i had no motivation to work out at all. Nowadays I'm constantly thinking about it. As I am writing this review, I am actually on my honeymoon. The thought of being away for 2 weeks and missing at least 4 classes was a bummer. What I decided to do is take advantage of the fitness facility to keep the momentum going. I could've easily made excuses to take the 2 weeks off and cheat but I didn't. Ask me back then if I would ever check out the gyms on my vacation and I would look at you as if you are crazy. Lol. Ilovekickboxing really helped me build back my motivation and i've noticed some results. I feel and see areas of my body more toned. I've been wanting to start working out again but I seriously have no motivation to go to the gym by myself and a few of my friends told me they joined ilovekickboxing in bayside and said they lovedddd it so I decided to give it a try! I bought the Groupon for 10 classes recently and have been there twice so far. I get such a great vibe from this place and look forward to going. The instructors are not trying to kill you and yell at you - they guide the workout and you do what you can do. This promotes such a great atmosphere and is the main reason I enjoy coming here. They try to sell you a package at a pretty good price after the first class (which is fine, the point of the groupon is to generate business). However, if you decline to do it right away they do not pressure you or make you feel like an outsider. It is hard to decide if you want to commit the money and they do not give you a hard time about it. The class beings with about 20 minutes of high intensity cardio (running, burpees, squats pushups, mountain climbers, planks, etc) - this is really the hardest part of the workout. After that you do some light stretching, and then you are hitting the bag for the rest of the class. Other than basic technique, the focus is really on the workout and cardio as opposed to getting you ready to fight Rhonda Rousey. They give you gloves on the first day, which is very nice. Shorts and a t shirt is fine for the class. Most people do the class barefoot, which is fine because the place is pretty clean. All in all, this is a great workout and a great way to change it up your workout routine. read more

I joined ilovekickboxing Bayside ("ILKB") in July of this year. My husband suggested that I work out. I gained more than 20 pounds in 3 years and I was getting out of shape badly. I tried traditional gym and zumba in the past, but it didn't really work out for me. I didn't enjoy it at all. While I was searching Groupon, I came across ILKB. It was located less than 5 minutes from my home. How convenient! I bought Groupon for 10 classes to try out first. Upon taking my first class on 07/10/15, I signed up for membership on the same day. What I like the most about ILKB are the instructors. My favorite instructors are Saif, Mike, Ethan, John, Elizabeth and Allison. They not only motivate members, but also really care about members on personal level. They make you feel so comfortable. Secondly, the instructors lead killer workout every single time. I'm not the person who sweats much, but I'm soaking wet after the class. The instructors really push you to the limit. In 4 months, I've changed a lot. For the first time in my life, I enjoy workout. I go to 3-4 times a week in the morning. It is the greatest way to start my day. When I miss my workout at ILKB, I get anxious. I wish I had joined sooner. So far, I've lost 7 pounds. I've been coming to ILK by way of Groupon since Nov and became a member in Jan. This place is AWESOME. The intensity of each class is kept high for the entire 60 minutes. The format is warm up/HIIT, 6 rounds on the bag, partner sparring, spot toning/stretching. In addition to the cardio and strength benefits, i have found that it has improved my core strength tremendously. It is a very well rounded 60 minutes and you get your time and money's worth! The instructors are all genuinely good people. Very friendly, attentative, and professional and you can tell they take pride and enjoy what they do. Each class will have a few instructors on the floor helping out the members. Music selections are awesome..and I believe they take playlist suggestions too. Another bonus is they LITERALLY never ever close. Local gyms in the area were closing or cancelling classes left and right due to snow/weather conditions but ILK was always open. Parking can be a hassle if you have your heart set on parking inside the lot. If not, it is a breeze. Franny Lew in front of Sushi village always has parking. I came to sweat & the class did not disappoint. They played music that supported the activity & helpd time pass. Apart from dancing, this is really the only other workout that makes me feel satisfied & good. The hour is packed with a hefty punch so be prepared to REALLY WORK or risk getting called out! I have been going to ILKB for 4 months now after switching out from a regular gym and I'm so glad I did! You will get a great workout and the instructors are all so motivating. They will encourage you and push you to perform your best. I appreciate that the staff tries to get to know their members and create a family-like environment. I also like how they have morning and evening classes in order to accommodate all working hours. I've never been to other locations but I am impressed by this particular location because they are always working to improve. They have been incorporating theme party classes, health tips after class, and different types of punch/kick combinations. I was pretty nervous going to my first kickboxing class but they really put you at ease from the beginning with their friendly staff and personal attention with form and technique on your first day. I love the vibe of this studio. ILoveKickboxing Bayside is like a fun ass kicking family. The instructors are all engaging, funny, and encouraging. The workout is challenging where I feel like dying by the second round of burpees but I always leave class feeling like a bad ass warrior. My husband and I go together on Sunday mornings. Sundays used to be my sacred day for sleeping in but it's been amazing to wake up to kickboxing. (I'd go every day if we lived nearby!) Love y'all, ILK Bayside/Crayside! PS. I was lured in with a special deal like many others. It's a great way for you to try out the studio. I was immediately hooked and invested in a package after my first class. I've had an amazing experience at iLoveKickboxing Bayside! I absolutely love the gym, its so roomy and clean and comfortable. Classes are super-challenging, but accommodating to people of all fitness levels. I used a Groupon (amazing deal, by the way) to determine whether this was the right place for me, and I quickly discovered it was exactly what I was looking for. I have found that I need more than just equipment to have success in fitness. I need a place like iLoveKickboxing. I immediately had a sense of belonging when I joined. There is no lack of motivation here. The instructors are great, they push you to try your very best and don't allow you to slack off. Today was my third class and i can now say i love it! The music is upbeat, and the instructors really encourage you. I love how they even know you by name! Ive only been here 3 times and i feel like ive been here for weeks-in a good way of course. After every class, I'm always sore but its a great feeling. Ive been to several gyms before, but this is the first time where im actually motivated to come. They really push you to try your best, and they help you if they see youre struggling. Two instructors Jasmine and Priscilla both are rude. Priscilla is the worst. She openly said that this Indian woman had strong accent and made fun of her in class. I am a guy. When there was 1 new member, and Jasmine instructor and I teamed up., the instructor said us "three" girls. I was like really pissed off. She may have thought that was funny but she clearly lacked professional attitude. All the 5 star reviews are fake. Avoid going to this place. read more

Left a message If I could join the next days class, of course no one calls me back. Then i called early next day, they say "oops sorry ill sign u in now". This is barely 15 min before the class starts. I rush out, had to clear off my car of the snow, get there. Im about 9 min late. The girl comes out and says "oh no ur more than 5 min late, u cant join!" are u kidding me!!! read more
