He then showed me the various systems he had checked as well as the results. He ended up placing a new valve on the overflow system. He cleaned up the work area when he was done. He also took $50.00 off the quoted estimate and charged me $200.00. I found Khuma to be polite, and concerned. Then he started acting sus. First, he didn't want me to lock the house when he walked in. I didn't get that. Then asked me how many rooms I had and how many people lived in the house ( how does any of that concern him? ). Once I took him to the source, he told me what he thought the problem was and said he couldn't fix it. Fair enough. I walk him out and then he goes he'll "charge $145 only". I understood what he meant but still asked him if it was to fix the problem. He said "no fix, too high (location of issue). I come, tell you problem, $145". He was trying to extort me and obviously I didn't fall for it but wondered if people actually did fall for it. He gestured that he'll write me a receipt for $145 and I told him he could do what he wanted because I wasn't paying. The company rep on the phone explicitly mentioned there was no charge to look at the issue. His command over English wasn't the best, he's Asian looking and his name was Gah/ Hah / Ga / Ha.
