While visiting for the weekend I needed a manicure and booked online easily. I was greeted with…read morefriendly service and received a quality gel manicure. The space was clean and inviting. If I was back in Osoyoos I would for sure be a repeat customer.

I relocated to the Okanagan about 2.5 years ago and started going to Osyoos Nails. At first, I had…read moregood experiences and really enjoyed going Over time, though, things became inconsistent. I like to book with different technicians and always scheduled appointments in advance, but I was often treated more like an impediment than a valued, repeat customer When booking with Stella, she would often step in for only the first or last part of my service, passing me off or passing me up while juggling other - I'm assuming - preferred clients. I was not getting the appointment I had actually booked and was having to repeat my wants and needs to multiple people throughout the service, which was not a great experience With Julie, the appointment was often stressful. There was pushback on things like nail length, and I was rushed choosing colors. When I booked time for nail art, it was often declined as "too difficult," and eventually I just stopped asking for nail art altogether. Additionally, I would come in with a color reference and ask her which colour was closest, and in a hurried haphazard way, I would be shown something that wasn't even close. I would then end up taking the time to find a better match myself. This would shorten the appt time and rush the service even more which raised anxiety ‍ and made the experience very unpleasant and uncomfortable. I also eventually stopped pre-picking colors and just chose from the wall instead. Another thing that became increasingly uncomfortable for me was the communication in the salon. Staff would often speak to each other in their language while working on clients. I completely respect this, but as a client, it can feel awkward and isolating when conversations are happening around you, not with you, and that you can't understand. It was also sometimes quite difficult trying to communicate specifics about your needs. The overall vibe started to seem like there were "preferred" clients, and I was made aware I wasn't one of them. As someone a bit more introverted, being treated inconsequential made the experience quite stressful, to the point where I found myself feeling anxious before appointments and leaving feeling worse despite making an hour or so appointment for "pampering". I did quietly and respectfully share this feedback during my last visit with both Stella and Julie. It was received politely in the moment However, afterward I noticed I could no longer book online, which is honestly very hurtful. I also noticed I couldn't leave a review for the salon or either Julie or Stella, which would explain the higher but controlled reviews in Fresha. If you're someone who is okay being more fluid with the overall experience, including communication, your needs and preferences, obvious preferential treatment, and timing, you may still enjoy it here. But for me, consistency, clear communication, integrity and being treated respectfully as a client really matter, and that's why I won't be returning.

Desperately needed a cleaning for an upcoming wedding. I was going to have it done in Portland, but…read moreI remembered Mike's Barber Shop from previous visits; and since we were going to be in Osoyoos, I thought I would give him a try. I researched ahead and saw that there were no appointments and that it was cash only, neither really mattered to me, but good to know ahead of time. When I arrived I saw 4 gentlemen ahead of me, in my opinion, a great sign that Mike has a loyal clientele that repeatedly visit and great word of mouth. There was Mike and another female barber, I was noticing the cuts they were doing and was impressed with the results. 2 guys were prob late 20's, 1 mid-late 30's, and an older gentlemen in his 60's/70's; and each cut suited them well. Price point for men's cuts $17.00. They also do other things such as beard trimming, shaves, and hair tattoos; which I believe were $1.00 a minute. Very reasonable price point. I waited about 30 minutes, which was fine. Great music was playing. Nice chatting among everyone. Magazines to read. And bonus points for a vintage BUBBLE BOBBLE arcade machine to play. When it was my turn, Mike asked me what I wanted & followed through perfectly. It turned out better than I had pictured. Long on top untouched, and shaved around the sides and back. He blended it all seamlessly. Very impressed. He's been at this location for quite a while and I foresee him being there for many, many more years. So, if you live in town or are visiting, check him out. You won't be disappointed. Tell him COSTA sent you. Enjoy!
