Also, they have that bs rule according to which they won't allow you to pay with cards if you don't spend at least 10€. And for the record that's their rule, so you don't have to do that, it's just them telling you to do that. Service: I enter the place and stand there for a few minutes without anyone of them caring about a new customer stepping into their door. They were walking in front of me and pretending like they didn't see me. So after a while I approach the owner at the counter and he goes "yes?". I ask for a table. He walks in the dining room without saying a word, so I guess I have to follow. Tables were all filthy. They left them that way. They cleaned a part of the table and sat me there. Then the owner comes and literally THROWS the menu on my table while walking somewhere else! I mean what the heck, ho can you be so rude to your own customers? I finally order and the result of their cooking, without surprise, is comparable to the attention they put in looking after their customers: average, disappointing. I got a pizza, which was average at best. This is Milano, there is some of the best pizza in the world, places like this don't have hope to survive. Concluding, place has no identity, the menu is massive, they don't have something they are good at, they are inattentive and the dining room looks really dated and dark. Definitely not coming back here again. Waste of my time.

It is very close to the metro, the bus, and a short walk from many hotels in the area, leaving you no excuses not to eat here. Now after all this about pizza one might think this is all they do, and one would be wrong. The menu is full, from pastas to steak to desserts, leaving no stone unturned. The atmosphere was friendly yet nice, the kind of place that you can dress up or down for. Bring a date, bring a friend, bring your appetite. I emailed several restaurants along the Navigli a few days before to ask if they would be able to accommodate 28 people. For one reason or another, I couldn't get anyone to take us! But Mattia Bilotta at the Asso Di Fiori - Osteria dei Formaggi emailed me back right away and was happy to have us. He asked that we pick a few antipasti, a few primi Piatti, a few secondi piati and a few desserts so that they could be ready in advance. When we got off the subway, there was a lot of graffiti on the walls of the buildings and I was worried that I was in a bad part of town as we walked up to the restaurant. But once we reached the river from the subway, I felt better about it. And when I entered the restaurant to let them know that we were here, there was a huge stuffed cow in the middle of the dining room! I knew the kids would LOVE that, but I was not prepared for how much the adults would love it. Once we were seated, Mr. Bilotta brought out a small black board with the meals we agreed on in advance written on the menu. He also allowed us to order the specials of the day, which were written on a big black board on one wall of the restaurant. This meal was everyone's favorite of the trip, by far. Every dish that came out was more incredible than the last. Each person ordered what they wanted, but when the food came out, it was so delicious they were compelled to pass their dishes to people sitting around them saying, "you HAVE to try this!!" However, given the noise level, it's hard to converse, so it wouldn't be my first choice for a romantic dinner. What this place does well is Angus Ribs. We had Beef Tartare and Grilled Angus Ribs. My friend loved his ribs, which were prepared with a liberal dollop of rock salt; the salt really added to the flavor profile. On the other hand, my Tartare was absolutely flavorless; if it hadn't been served with sweet cherry tomatoes on the side I wouldn't have been able to eat more than two spoonfuls of it :-( As for our sides, the potato skins we ordered weren't especially good either; they were oily and largely tasteless. The potato fries were actually freshly made chips that had been deep-fried in the kitchen - quite tasty! Portion sizes are very generous. The ribs were as wide as the plate, and the side of potato fries (chips) took up an entire plate. Overall this place is AOK, but I don't know that I'll be coming back anytime soon.

I really love this place, as in my opinion, every healthy meal should be based on one or more dead animals, preferably cows. Having this said, I am obviously a victim to every steakhouse. But everybody should know: this place has it's weaknesses in serving time and trying to manage bringing food for multiple persons at the same time, heck sometimes I even my potatoes shivering in front of my eyes, while I waited another 10 minutes for the meat. NOT OK!?! Well, now let's talk about what makes this place still genius: Due to a lag of fantasy on my side, I alway order the beef shoulder and I can tell you, it's a heck of meat. Soft, delicious taste, fresh from somewhere in South America. Totally worth the money in combination with red vine and onion potatoes (keep telling them actually cook the potatoes). Till today, it's impossible for me to believe that a cook can actually manage to cook a piece right down to the perfect minute, but is incapable to guess the right amount of cooking time for potatoes, but so be it! If you combine this with the variety of side dishes they have, this should fill you up beyond exploding without even touching the starters or deserts. My experience on the red vines varied strongly between good and beyond terrible, so better go with an open vine, if you don't have to impress a girl with your knowledge.
