First time at this establishment. My niece made reservations for 6:00pm and was told we would most…read morelikely get a high table or seating next to the wine fridge, which was okay. When we got there the staff seemed to be scurrying around and distracted so we had to wait a few minutes before checking the reservations for the evening. We were then taken to a long table near the far end. It felt somewhat out of the way so we asked if there was anything closer to the front. We were then moved to the front of the same long table (cushioned back seat). It was a better location but we couldn't figure out why the staff was running around and acting as though they were expecting the Prime Minister to walk in. There was a birthday party going on but they didn't necessitate everyone's time. There were tables by the window that were open and remained that way until we were finished our meal, which was just after 7:00pm. It started getting busy then. We shared a carafe of House Red from a lovely & attentive server named Véronique and then we each ordered a pizza from their huge selection. I had the delicious Mediterranean, which had fresh tomatoes, spinach, onions, fresh herbs, garlic and feta cheese and my niece had the Vieux Four (with smoked meat) pizza which she really enjoyed. We were honoured when the owner, M. Manago himself, stopped by our table to say hello. Even though the food was good, I don't think I'd go back to this place next time I'm in town, unless I'm with a dignitary or the Prime Minister.

I'm baffled by the poor reviews here. I really loved this place! Came on a Monday night and sat…read moreoutside on the terrasse. The "Antipasto Olivia" was excellent - a perfect variety of olives, nuts, veggies, cheese etc. I had the Linguini Gigi, and my husband had the steak tartare. We both loved our meals! The pasta was perfectly al dente and very tasty, but... a bit salty. The wine list is good (I enjoyed the Bourgogne), but the beer options are totally lacking. What a crap list of tap options. Such a shame. The food was really great, and the wait staff couldn't have been friendlier! Everyone we dealt with was super nice and chatty, bilingual, and just overall number 1. Give it a try. Srsly.

The decor and setting is very nice and great for a little romantic evening. My only complaint was…read morethat the tables are a bit too close together which made getting in and out of seats a bit uncomfortable. We started off with drinks and the Brie appetizer which were great. The Brie while on the pricey side was well presented and very tasty. It was definitely the high point of the meal. My husband ordered the creamy pizza and I ordered the Mediterranean penne. Our food arrived and I had Mediterranean linguine (not penne as ordered). The pizza was a bit bland and the crust seemed like a store bought naan bread crust. At 18$ we expected a better pizza. The pasta was flavourful and worth the price but it was nothing extraordinary. The service was fast and our waiter was great. Overall, our supper was pleasant but a tad overpriced for what we got. We will likely give it another go sometime in the future.

For those who crave a Gema-like end result without the "I'm sitting in my car on the 40 on a Sunday…read morejust to go get a slice, is something wrong with me?" experience, there is now a Holy Grail of real Neapolitan pizza in the West Island. From the moment you walk into the casual, if not tiny, eatery, you are greeted by a tall, somewhat imposing, but extremely warm and welcoming gentleman by the name of Germano. My new friend pours his heart and soul into everything he does within those 4 walls at Cugini's Pizza Cafe. From the antipasto board, to the incredibly fresh ingredients topping the slow cooked sauce atop a crispy pizza crust, to the heavenly Nodini (pastries topped with Nutella, honey and powdered sugar)...you can taste the love in every bite. I've sampled 4 different pizzas from the menu and they are all equally delicious. If you are looking for Quality, and are willing to pay a little more for a great pizza, you will never be disappointed by Cugini's. Just don't expect him to rush your order or give you the cold shoulder, because Germano's warmth and true love for his craft will make you want to stay and chat for a while as your pizza cooks to perfection within his ovens. You owe it to yourself to try Cugini's and I guarantee you will become a regular, just like me.

WOWOW the pizza was next level! Honestly, I've never had anything like it. Super fresh, full of…read moreflavor, and absolutely delicious. A truly unique experience. That said, I'm giving it 4 stars because as incredible as the pizza was, it ended up costing $80 for just one pizza for two people and we only had the free water. Definitely on the pricey side, which makes it feel more like a once-in-a-while luxury. We ordered the Cup & Char pizza, and it took a full hour to be ready. When the staff brought it to us, they mentioned it takes longer because it's one of their best and fair enough, it was amazing but it would have been nice to know that at the time we ordered. Waiting that long without a heads-up, especially if you have other plans, isn't ideal. Overall, the pizza is truly outstanding, but the price and wait time are things to keep in mind. If you go, go hungry... and patient
