Nice, practical and cheap Sweedish designed/ Chinese made stuff, awful staff -with such attitudes like: client -"Excuse me, could you please help me with something?" -staff "-What do you want?" c:"Do you know where I could find...?" s: "I don't know" read more

We bought our entire house at this store. We paid for a new service, pick up and delivery, to have everything brought to our home. They missed 12 items, worth $160 and they have been impossible to reach. I call every day and they either dont reply or simply imply we've kept the products! This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. If you have to go, make sure you avoid the delivery service or you will end up being ripped off as I was read more

I love IKEA. Try to get there early to avoid the weekend rush. The only reason I didn't give them a five star review is because I don't like the expensive shipping , use C-list to find other delivery options to save some$$$ read more

Two terrible customer service assured this one star review. My friend and I bought nearly 40 pieces on three carts. The cashier missed two pieces for bed during the check-out. And they didn't show up on the delivery list. The next day when we called the customer service, they told us the only way is to go back to store and "re-purchase" the item. It's about 2.5 hour drive. I won't go back now and not in the future. read more

Disappointing experience. The prices seemed good until shipping was factored in -- but I was already there so OK, whatever. But when I received the desk and opened it up, it had cosmetic damage in four places. I could waste another day schlepping it back, and possible getting another damaged desktop, but decided to cut my losses. Schleper beware. read more

What an unbelievable shit show! Never again. Sat on hold for 45 min told I had to drive up to store (45 min) then told they don't offer service. Delivered without parts...90 min later it breaks! Cheap shit w lousy cyst service! read more

I had a great time at Ikea! Of course there were the usual domestic disputes, and that was entertaining/annoying to listen to. However, when I went to grab my products from the warehouse, an Ikea worker helped me and grabbed the wrong color. I triple checked him to make sure he knew that I wanted WHITE drawers to go with my WHITE bed. I came back home, built the bed, went to build the drawers, and opened the box to find the ugliest shade of brown I have ever seen. More than disappointed in Ikea (especially their customer service now that I'm in hour 3 of waiting to speak to a real person on the phone) read more

right off 95; viewable from the hwy and easy to navigate. Not as large or as well turned-out as other Ikea stores ive been through. (Mainly, Stoughton, MA.) 2 of 3 employees helpful. read more

This review is about the customer service in this store, not the product itself. We've been in this store several times throughout the years since we live close to the store and the customer service is still awful. One time we ordered delivery service. They did not show up on the day so we called, they said they made mistake on the date of delivery. We went to the store and spoke to the manager whose name is Nate. He did not even say sorry about what they did. Even though he is a manager, his attitude was terrible. You better to purchase online not in the New Haven store. read more

Ikea is seriously the best. Though the location of this one is really well hidden (I've gotten lost a few times in the drive to), it's worth finding. It's the only store I could pass hours in and not even realize it. From the delicious, cheap food, to the winding mazes of the showroom and the actual shopping area, it's really fun. You don't normally think of a furniture store as being fun but Ikea is. I've spent so much time imagining designing rooms for an apartment I don't even have. They have a lot of great stuff for great prices and every time I go there are so many new things along with their usual staples. The only issues I even have are that the checkout lines are always incredibly long, and the store itself is not well made for people with handicaps, which isn't an issue for myself but for people like my mom who has a knee problem and can't walk as much. Perhaps more benches in the shopping area and a shorter, clear-cut path to the exits? read more

Whenever I need a piece of furniture I got to go to IKEA. I can spend an entire day going through their showroom and marketplace, and since they have a dining room you actually could! Most of the furniture is really cheap and is actually quite stylish. There is nothing ornate, elaborate, or classical, everything is pretty much modern or contemporary. The only problem is that you have to put things together yourself, but that if that saves you money I'm all for it. read more

Me and my sister come down from Waterbury and its always been fun to travel through the maze and get the chocolate cake at the cafe. I always end up buying something and I usually check out the As Is area if I have something specific in mind and don't mind a bump or bruise for less cash. I bought the Hemnes bed frame 1 year ago there and it was easy to pick up in the warehouse area and they had someone pack it into my car. We had fun putting it together, pretty cut and dry directions it was easy and you can set it up to hold your mattress at the 3 different heights. Not bad for the price and if your living in an apartment its easy breakdown when you're ready to move! All in all its a fun place to check out! Worth the trip and get the chocolate cake! :) read more

The customer service is absurdly poor. I was forced to walk around the store to find an item that was marked incorrectly in order to purchase it because the staff was incapable of doing their job. Arielle- the one who was sent to look for the item I was purchasing- was very uneducated and ill-mannered. The only person who actually managed to do their job correctly was Temp #23, whose name I believe was Eric. An awful experience overall, you're better off driving farther away to get the items you need because you won't find them here unless you do the employees' job for them. read more

This is very unfortunate! The products are excellent, but to get them is absolutely infuriating. The store is an absolute nightmare of severe sensory overload where you'll be forced to walk through an intricate maze of departments before finding the stuff you want to purchase. Then once you discover the right department (most likely through sheer luck) trying to find a sales associate to ring it up is difficult and confusing, then finding how to get downstairs to pay for it is close to impossible due to the aforementioned maze. Then you'll have to wait on line for 20 minutes to pay... then if you're not completely exhausted from walking the 3.2 miles of collective floor space, (and I promise you will be) you'll wait a minimum of 30 minutes alongside a group of equally exhausted people (looking like a group of Ellis Island refugees who look as if they've been waiting 10 days to enter the country) for the purchases to be pulled from inventory. However, if there's issues with the purchases, to get through to someone at the toll free number for resolution is truly an exercise in futility. read more

Had not visited in years, but went to pick up some shelving for a non-profit the other day. What a MISERABLE customer experience! (used to be a big fan...) No one in furniture warehouse to assist / had to literally chase after 2 employees who finally spotted, and were clearly trying to ignore my "Excuse Me -could you kindly help" / Employee that I finally caught up to was clearly unhappy about having to assist / told me that his "job was only to help with heavy items" - which I had multiple ones (incredibly rude, lazy and uninterested). Check-out/loading no better .. was explicitly told as I entered that assistance would be available in warehouse and on loading, then again after bad experience in warehouse, told that someone was outside in loading area to assist. Was there for over 25 mins.,actively looking for help, NO ONE present, and employee in Return/Exchange area said "wasn't his job / look for someone else..." Despite appreciation of product & concept, will NEVER return.... read more

i just had the worst experience at Ikea New Haven CT today. One of the guy works at the self serve area said to me " it's your own dam shopping and you need to SHUT UP" . It was 830 at night and the store was going to close in half an hour. I needed a wall storage unit and it came with 20+ pieces. I found some myself but couldn't locate other pieces. The self serve area at Ikea is just overwhelming and some items were misplaced on the shelf and it was just impossible to find the right pieces by myself.I I asked this guy if he can help me with the rest of the pieces and he literally just yelled at me and told me to shut up. The store did a good job on spending millions of dollars at the display area / TV commercials. Unfortunately the customers can never find the right pieces at the check out or get any help /respect from the people work there. I suggest people not to shop there until the management figures out how to stop their employees yell at the customers. read more

I am not sure what happened to IKEA and while I would like to say my horrible experience was only with the New Haven store (which according to Sean the manager I spoke to is a franchised location). Okay for background info I live 45 minutes from the store by car and making a trip there is not trivial. I go and pick up an office credenza. I get it home late in the day. I open it up and plan to build it the next morning. It was missing two furniture components (not hardware wood parts). I call the 888 support number. I wait 20 minutes on hold and finally get connected with an angry customer support person who has different assembly instruction than I have. I hang up with three options. Wait 48 hours for the parts, Go to the store to get the parts (1.5 hr round trip) or repack and return the product. I picked return the product. I got to the store and waited on the return line. It was manned by a very nice woman that you could see was also trained to hate the customer. I asked to see a manager and was told to wait because he was with another customer. Out pops Sean. I asked for his last name - he says we don't give last names here. I told him what had happened - like the person on the phone at the 888 number he clearly hated customers and offered nothing in an apology or even an excuse for my experience. This was my first and last trip to IKEA. Really folks do not give you money to a company that treats customers this way. Even if you are buying crap furniture you have a choice. read more

DO NOT USE THEIR DELIVERY OR ASSEMBLY SERVICE!!!! Honestly the store is alright, pretty much standard for an Ikea with maybe a little worse than average customer service in store. But the company they employ for delivery and assembly (Select Express and Logistics) is absolutely terrible - they completely jerked me around for two days while I slept on the floor thanks to their not being able to deliver and assemble my bed the same day like I paid extra for. They delivered it two hours early, interrupting lunch with my mom who was leaving New Haven that day, and then proceeded to never contact me again about assembly. I had to call them multiple times (which of course involves going through the never-ending maze of robot phone menus - I could probably recite word for fucking word the Ikea spiel on securing your furniture to the wall by now) just to hear various excuses like "oh well we had to assemble a crib for a child," or "the driver doesn't have the tools necessary," or "our phones have been going in and out all day." 24+ hours after it was scheduled, these three college kids in t-shirts show up to finally put my bed together and proceed to hit on and make very uncomfortable one of my neighbors. I'm sitting here thinking...I could have hired these dudes off craigslist for twenty bucks yesterday and probably gotten better service doing it! Now I'm pursuing a refund claim with Ikea which of course is another huge headache, having to repeat every little detail every time I talk to someone else... do yourself a favor, hire a truck and a handyman off of craigslist and AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!!!! read more

Has anyone else had a difficult time with deliveries from IKEA (New Haven, CT)? We recently ordered a full kitchen, and had it split into two shipments because a portion of the materials were available from a store, and the other was being shipped from a central warehouse. We had confirmed deliver dates, and received a notification the day prior to the expected delivery with a 4-hour window. We waited and waited, but no truck. The delivery company, a third party with no ties to IKEA, had no knowledge of where our cabinets and accessories could be. We waited another two weeks, and another confirmation of delivery, another 4-hour window. Again we waited, and again no truck. The dispatch team said that we should not have received any confirmation because our merchandise was not there. Nonetheless, we did, and we took another day off to be there. Today was delivery day #3, and again, nothing. IKEA is offering to refund the delivery charge, which seems like an incredibly petty offer considering we've taken time off of work to be home 3 days waiting for deliveries that don't show up, and we are now looking at delays for getting our appliances in, floors finished, trim installed... etc. I realize we saved a lot of money by going to IKEA, and it's likely a case of "you get what you pay for," but wondering if this is something we should have expected and factored in a couple of extra months into our renovation plans. read more
