Went to store to shop for an order that would be shipped out of state. Employees did not know the location of the stores out of state and told me to order online. Placed online order 2 weeks in advance. Ikea sent an email 12 hours before delivery with a delivery date prior to when I needed the furniture. Called customer service and they said they couldn't change it. Paid someone to wait at the apartment for delivery since it was a few days earlier than our moving date and the delivery did not show up. Received call late that night saying delivery was incomplete and would be delivered 2 days later. This time we drove 7 hours to be there to receive the order. And once again, it did not show up. Called 4x and on hold 30+ minutes each time. 22 minutes and still holding. Glad I paid extra for the delivery...not. Worst customer service/delivery service ever! read more

This store I absolutely loved!!! The prices were reasonable,if not downright affordable..the items they sell are housewares,furniture,carpets,etc...very unique contemporary things,very stylish and look like they should cost a ton more than what they do.The childrens room items are to die for..I could have spent every penny I owned in here..lol..I will certainly be a returning customer.Easy checkout,and the staff doesn't crowd or bother you at all.Cafe inside with lunch selections...I loved it.Something for everyone for sure! read more

While my son was visiting CT from San Diego, CA, I asked if he would go to Ikea with me as I was looking for a storage item for my closet and some stuffed animals for Christmas gifts. I purchased both items and more that day. While passing through the store, I noticed a small bureau that would look good in my bedroom under the wall hanging TV set. He took note and wrote down the measurements. Passing through another department, I spotted a file cabinet that could be locked and again my son measured this item. My son went back to the Ikea store on Christmas Eve day and purchased both items for me as his Christmas gifts. I, of course, was thrilled with the gifts. On the Sunday before he was leaving to return to San Diego, he assembled the bureau first (about a 3 1/2 - 4 hour project). He then was determined to put the file cabinet together before leaving CT. He was working very deligently for a couple of hours and then ran into a situation where there was an integrel piece of the cabinet missing. We had everything layed out and it just was not included in the box! He left on Monday and there it was, the half put together (heavy) file cabinet in the middle of my living room floor along with a couple of screwdrivers, a hammer and containers with the various parts (screws, etc.) neatly in a row. I called Ikea on Friday for assistance with getting the part and finishing the assembly. Neither my husband or I are capable of doing this work! I was on hold for maybe 15 minutes or so and almost ready to give up when an actual person's voice was heard saying hello. I began to tell my story of the missing piece and the fact that we needed someone to come from Ikea to finish the assembly of the file cabinet. I was told that no one from Ikea does the assembly work and that I would have to call another company that they me the name and number for. I also mentioned if they could not do that, we then wanted Ikea to pick up this item and return it and credit our son's credit card. The company they gave me the name of did not want anything to do with completing a partially assembled item and Ikea told me that we would have to pay for someone to pick up the file cabinet "as is" and return it to their store. Ikea did accept responsibility for the missing piece and stated that they would send it to us and we would still have to pay someone for completing the assembly. I explained that we had someone here to assemble the file cabinet for us and the assembly would have been free and completed if Ikea's employee, packing this box , did not leave out this piece. After speaking to another, what they loosely refer to as "Customer Service" (which should be re-named "Customer Dis-Service") employee, I left my number on a supervisor's voice mail. I was told by the 2nd person I talked with that she/he was out that day and would call me back as soon as possible. Today is Monday and I had not heard from anyone from Ikea. I placed another call and timed the wait to speak to someone at 12 minutes! The top leavel person of this department also reiterated that they would not do anything about the assembly and they did me a BIG favor by expediting the sending of the missing piece. My question to her was, "Is that what you consider doing me a favor?" "Actually expediting a piece to me that I cannot use because I cannot assemble the file cabinet myself?" What differance does it make that I will receive it quickly. My husband and I own a business which is close to 150 years old! When we make a mistake, we do not expect our clients to have to pay for it! Obviously, Ikea's mistakes cost their customers money and they do not care at all. Pregnant shoppers beware! IKEA has many cheap items for a nursery so you may be tempted to shop for your baby. Do not. IKEA coworkers are not helpful and appear to have been trained to harass pregnant women. After standing in an uncomfortably long line (I was passed over by a coworker opening a new line bc I didn't move fast enough), I purchased food items and put them in my IKEA blue bag. I went to the exit closest to the family parking area and was quite exhausted by all the waiting on concrete. An old man working for IKEA named "Al" approached me and demanded that I show receipts for the one picture frame and three food items that I had just purchased. My hands were full and I could barely stand, but this man treated me like some sort of shoplifting criminal. He did not offer to help me even though my hands were full and I cannot bend forward. I told him that I was pregnant and he did not show any consideration at all. He treated me with complete disrespect even though I was a paying customer at 8 months pregnant. When I called customer service I was offered 10% off. You couldn't pay me to go back to that store. read more

We needed to pick up a bookshelf from Ikea and stopped by late during the weekday. We were surprised how empty the parking lot was, though we had never been to this location before, generally you have to circle around and around at Ikea to find parking. This store is setup in the typical Ikea fashion, go upstairs, walk through showroom, then finally get to picking up your stuff. It had been some time since I was in an Ikea and I was surprised at the quality of the staging and also happened to find some other cool products that were not on my list (a cool, huge, glass salad bowl). The prices are always so reasonable here and the products are pretty good too! We were again surprised when we arrived at the checkout and didn't have to wait in line at all! We ended up making a couple more trips back to this store based on our awesome first experience. I guess the trick is coming during the weekday or at least coming later at night. Yay Ikea! read more

This place is a hot mess, with aggressively unhelpful employees and annoying crying children. Ok, the crying children are ubiquitous to an IKEA even at 9 pm, but this is the worst IKEA I've been to (I move around a lot, so I've been to a few) in terms of employees who are insulted by the concept of customer service. Love this place! I absolutely love their bistro and market. They now feature authentic imported food products including pastries and coffees. Their ice cream, pink marzipan filled cream cakes, veggie balls, fries, and soups are yummy. I do have to say their cinnamon buns are not as amazing as they used to be, but their still satisfying. Also their apple pies are served cold, but I prefer mine hot. I recommend being a member here, because you get multiple free cups of coffee here each visit! The staff was friendly here and they have a lot of modern furniture to choose from! read more

Had an absolutely terrible experience here today. I selected two chairs that were discounted and were not located in the isles. I went up to the kiosk to have them print the form with the barcode and went to the register to pay for these items. After waiting ten minutes, I was informed that the chairs could not be reached due to the fact they could not operate the fork lift during store hours. That is understandable. However, we were told we needed to come back at 9:00 pm when the store closed to get the item so they could operate the forklift. At this time, it was 3:30 pm and I live over an hour away. I was told I have no choice but to come tonight or tomorrow even after I paid for these items. I was offered the option of delivery, but only at half price. I am completely appalled at the lack of ability to rectify this situation. The customer service was terrible and do not recommend this store to anyone. read more

Called ahead to make sure everything I needed to build a dresser was in stock. They said yes. Unfortunately, when I got there they only had 1 (out of 5) items that I needed. What's more, THEIR SYSTEM SAID THEY HAD 21 IN STOCK. The head of the warehouse said they would mail everything directly to me, I said fine. I get the products 4 days later to find 2 out of the 5 were damaged and unusable, while 1 was white (I ordered black). What's more, MORE, their "customer service reps" were uninformative, rude, and when I asked them to pick up the products for my 9 days of having no place to put my clothes he said "oh well." His name was Nate and was the most rude SOB I have ever met and I highly recommend spending the extra $50 bucks on buying the same dresser pre-made at Target, Wal-Mart, or Home Goods. Much nicer, smarter, and higher quality products (yes even Wal-Mart). read more

Never again will I buy so much as a salt shaker from Ikea. From the "specialist" who helped me design 2,000.00 worth of Paks Wardrobes in the New Haven Store who had no clue what she was doing, only 2 computer stations with paks software for the 50 people waiting to use it (the 3rd computer hasn't worked in 2 yrs) to the stifling heat with no a/c and no fans (it gets hot in May and this isn't Sweden!). This took 4 hours in the store. To find out the order placed is wrong (90" doors for 79" cabinets) so already I have to refuse part of the delivery and then re-order doors and fight for a refunds), delivery never shows up/ no call on Saturday. Promised it's coming Sunday and will be called. Delivery company promised Ikea it was coming Sunday between 9 and 1pm, not that's not true either. No call from their incompetent delivery service. Just spent 40 minutes on the phone. No, not coming Sunday either. Now Tuesday and I "should" get a call on Monday, but if I don't, I can expect to be on hold "call no 9 in the cue) for 40 minutes. They should be ashamed of themselves and I should be ashamed of myself for even thinking this was a good idea. It would be cheaper and less aggravation to just buy real furniture from a real company. read more

I'm a fan of ikea. I'm the obsessive compulsive personality type, and the ikea designs lend to that. This store to start off with is HUGE. I've been there several times and consistently get lost in the 2nd floor. The show rooms are great, and it's great to get ideas, but ikea is unfortunately not the easiest place to "pick up" a drawer case or something else you need quickly. That said, you can't beat the prices, and I've found that the quality is not too bad. Ikea fails in (1) truth in advertising and (2) customer service, as in long check-out lines. Number one: be careful that you are paying the amount shown on the sign. I picked up an item which the big sign said was priced at $12.99. Not so. The fine print is that this is the cost with their card, which I do not have nor want to have. $5.00 more without their card. That is outright deceit in my opinion. The second issue, the long check-out lines, is addressed in almost every review. Wouldn't you think Ikea would get the idea? Lazy workers, don't bother ask for their customer service for help. They are too lazy to go back to the stockroom to look for the item. I went there to get the corner desk for my son, there was only 1 left on the shelf and the boxes were broken so i asked for help, and the guy told me they do not have stockroom, liar! The service is worst than anything you could imagine. When one section was out of a cabinet knob type when they said there were 35 in inventory scattered in random sections. My wife and I spent an hour on a treasure hunt trying to find them and never did. The one rack we did find was randomly put in a sample bedroom and was still out of stock. When we asked 4 employees for directions they verbally try to tell you and refuse to lead you there. I think IKEqA puts dog shock collars on them if they leave their section. Because our entertainment center came in literally 35 separate purchases (down to the legs and screws), we found out their stock guy loaded 4 wrong shelves which I spent 2 hours in returns trying to exchange. Take a number and the 2 workers had 20 people to see in front of me. 45 minutes later my numbers called. On top of that, 6 shelves were out of stock that I get to drive back on May 19th to pick up. If you have an issue you should just keep it to yourself. It is impossible to get someone on the phone. I am doing an ikea kitchen and spending a thousands there. I went there on a Tuesday night about 8 pm to pick up an already chosen item with my significant other. While he was checking out wanted to grab a salad for dinner. Went upstairs for the cafe to order a salad. Nobody assisted me and was stared at like I had 5 heads. Asked for a salad and was told whatever was shown was what was available... Was handed ceramic bowls and told to go wrap it in aluminum foil to go. Cashier was very rude thereafter. When trying to back downstairs the elevator did not work and had to ask where to find the stairs- every employee working acted like I was a complete idiot for not knowing where things were etc. I had to take he stairs and walk throughout the entire downstairs like a puzzle to finally leave. Working in retail I was appalled at the staff and how rudely I was treated and incoherent people made me feel. read more

Have purchased a number of items from this IKEA over the years, but this time I walked away extremely disappointed. I drove there to purchase bath towels in a particular color. They had hand towels and wash clothes in that color, but no bath towels. I glanced at a display of various bathroom shelves mounted high on a wall and there were 16 bath towels--exactly the color I had come for--too high up for me to reach. Asked employee if she could assist in getting a few down since there weren't any in the bin. She went back to bin that I had previously looked at and told me there weren't any. I already knew that. I again asked about the display. She said those towels had holes in them and she couldn't sell them, but more towels were scheduled to arrive tomorrow. At no point did the employee express any sympathy or regret (e.g, "sorry you drove here for an item we're out of" or "sorry we can't take some of those towels down" or "sorry you need to make another trip"). ANY type of empathy would have made a big difference. Needless to say, I won't be going back there any time soon, if ever. read more

IKEA has to have the worst customer service. I ordered my kitchen cabinets from them to be delivered on a Tuesday. I received two emails and confirmation phone call. An hour before delivery window, I was called to say they had overbooked and would not be delivering today. ( found out later, they had lost my order) After 1 hour and 29 minuted on the phone, got a new delivery date four days later. In the meantime, had already scheduled installers, plumber etc. They had to be canceled. Delivery comes, 12 missing boxes. Over a week after original delivery date, I can't get any confirmation of when missing boxes will arrive. Someone was suppose to call me yesterday, and never did. Most of my $7,000 order sitting uselessly in garage while waiting for missing pieces. No one returns phone calls, no one works at resolving issues. At checkout i tried to purchase a vase that wasn't labeled. The cashier wouldn't call a manager or even try to look the item up. She told me I'd have to walk back to where I found it, and search for the others(I had looked for it all over the place before checkout). This is very unfortunate! The products are excellent, but to get them is absolutely infuriating. The store is an absolute nightmare of severe sensory overload where you'll be forced to walk through an intricate maze of departments before finding the stuff you want to purchase. Then once you discover the right department (most likely through sheer luck) trying to find a sales associate to ring it up is difficult and confusing, then finding how to get downstairs to pay for it is close to impossible due to the aforementioned maze. Then you'll have to wait on line for 20 minutes to pay... then if you're not completely exhausted from walking the 3.2 miles of collective floor space, (and I promise you will be) you'll wait a minimum of 30 minutes alongside a group of equally exhausted people (looking like a group of Ellis Island refugees who look as if they've been waiting 10 days to enter the country) for the purchases to be pulled from inventory. However, if there's issues with the purchases, to get through to someone at the toll free number for resolution is truly an exercise in futility. read more

Had not visited in years, but went to pick up some shelving for a non-profit the other day. What a MISERABLE customer experience! (used to be a big fan...) No one in furniture warehouse to assist / had to literally chase after 2 employees who finally spotted, and were clearly trying to ignore my "Excuse Me -could you kindly help" / Employee that I finally caught up to was clearly unhappy about having to assist / told me that his "job was only to help with heavy items" - which I had multiple ones (incredibly rude, lazy and uninterested). Check-out/loading no better .. was explicitly told as I entered that assistance would be available in warehouse and on loading, then again after bad experience in warehouse, told that someone was outside in loading area to assist. Was there for over 25 mins.,actively looking for help, NO ONE present, and employee in Return/Exchange area said "wasn't his job / look for someone else..."
